Paddle Wheel Inn

A beautiful location next to the Rock River is the best feature of the hotel. The room was large and had a mini refrigerator and microwave. The wifi worked well and there was coffee in the lobby. The front desk is not staffed 24 hours and the rooms are not cleaned every day, but neither is my house, haha. There is a bank and two restaurants sharing the parking lot but otherwise nothing is available within walking distance. A quick five minute drive gets you to anywhere in town.
Comfort Inn Joliet West I-80

No frills, nothing fancy here. Standard clean hotel close to I-80. It’s a place to shower, sleep, have some breakfast and leave. There is a gym, I don’t remember if there is a pool (in case you’re into that). Plenty of places to eat lunch and dinner, including a decent pub-style restaurant right across the parking lot. Prices are fair. Overall good stay.

Comfort Inn Edwardsville - St Louis

I was in town briefly for a memorial service for my sister-in-law so I was just looking for a nice, clean place to stay for a night. The Comfort Inn was perfect. The staff was very nice. They actually called me at 6PM to confirm that I was still planning on checking in. I told them I was tending to my personal business and had not had time to check in yet and they were great, saying I could check in anytime. The room was big, and clean. Fitness center was above average for a hotel. Since I had an early flight on Sunday morning I asked if I could use the treadmill earlier than 6AM and they let me which was so nice. Great location, restaurants near by. Just a nice place to stay with a great staff. Can't ask for anything else.

This hotel was amazing and we will stay again. You could smell the cleanliness when you walked in the door and the room was super clean.
Quality Inn Aurora - Naperville Area

Sleep Inn

The hallway carpeting was atrociously filthy as were common area surfaces. Room television didn't work, Throughout the night rap music belted from car stereos as ultra-short staying guests came and left soon thereafter (if you get my gist). Painted surfaces looked like they had been painted with a rake. Unfinished drywall patching in the lobby and breakfast areas. Breakfast tables hadn't been cleaned and chair legs and seats are shabby. It seems every time I turned around I had to renew the WIfi lease. Trash bin outside the main entrance was peaked to overflowing. Pay a little more and forget about staying in this joint.
Comfort Inn Gurnee Near Six Flags
3.9/596 Reviews
This hotel is the perfect location to stay at if you want to go to Great America, Hurricane Harbor or Gurnee Mills Mall...it is right next to the mall. They had a nice hot breakfast with egg patties, sausage, batter to make waffles. Also had coffee, yogurt, juices, bagels. The best part of this hotel was the extremely comfortable bed and pillows. I slept amazing! The hotel staff was also so helpful and kind....great service!

Comfort Inn Crystal Lake - Algonquin

Stayed here on Christmas night 2020 with husband, 2 kids and a dog. Pros: 1) Good COVID precautions. The front desk was like Fort Knox with the plastic shield, the few staff we saw were masked, no breakfast, had to sign up to use the pool and were limited to 1 hour. Hotel in general seemed very clean. 2) Pet-friendly. We rarely stay at hotels with our dog, so we appreciated the option of a non-dump hotel with a reasonable pet charge (only $15/night). We did hear another barking dog in the room next to us, but the walls are thick enough that it wasn't disruptive. 3) Open, period, and on Christmas. We've worked holidays before, so we appreciate the work of the staff, especially in 2020. Cons: 1) No bedding for pull-out sofa. This was annoying. We sent our son to the desk to get it since it wasn't already in the room, and the receptionist informed him it was all being used in other rooms. So we had to use the bedspread from one of the other beds. 2) Unlocked side door and dog landmines/cigarette butts everywhere. Took the pup out in the morning, and it's clear there is no attention to detail on the side of the hotel (yes, I know guests should be responsible for the poo, but the hotel could at least put a cigarette butt container out there, or run a rake through the grass once or twice a week). More concerningly, I swiped my key to go back inside, only to discover that the e-reader wasn't activated and there wasn't even a locking mechanism in the door itself. In retrospect, that's very concerning from a security perspective. 3) Charged the wrong credit card. I presented a different card *at check-in* to the receptionist to charge for the stay, and instead she charged the card I used to hold my reservation. Called a couple days later to sort it out, and there were no charges at all to the one I gave to the receptionist. Staff needs to be retrained to make sure the correct card is charged. I don't go to hotels looking for complaints, but unfortunately the cons outweighed the pros in this case. Probably wouldn't stay here again, unless for another quick overnight.
