The room was clean and tidy, and the front desk service was excellent, especially the lady who spoke Chinese. Downstairs is a main street, making transportation very convenient. The streetcar goes directly to the JR station via the No. 2 express line. I visited many places like Imabari Castle, Baishinji Temple, Dogo Onsen, Matsuyama Castle, and Iyo-Ozu. I also stayed at a REI hotel in Takamatsu, which was quite good, just a bit smaller than this one.
The REF Matsuyama City Station Hotel by VESSEL Hotels boasts an exceptionally prime location, right in the very heart of Matsuyama City, Ehime Prefecture. It's conveniently situated right next to Takashimaya department store and the city's iconic Ferris wheel ๐ก, offering super easy access to both Matsuyama Castle and Shimonada Station.
The room itself was quite spacious. This was my first time in Japan encountering a design where the washbasin was cleverly positioned outside the main bathroom area, which genuinely made the bathroom feel more expansive. The room also came equipped with a small table and two chairs, which was incredibly convenient.
The breakfast was a particular highlight! There was a wide variety of delicious options, and everything tasted great. The sea bream sashimi, in particular, was incredibly fresh and succulent ๐. Among the five types of orange juice available, the 'Wenzhou Orange' was the sweetest โ I highly recommend anyone visiting to try it! ๐ฅณ
The location is fantastic, right on the main street. You can take the airport bus directly to Mitsukoshimae. A taxi to the airport costs about 2500 yen. The bathroom has a separate wet and dry area, which is excellent. Express buses to places like Takamatsu leave right from the hotel entrance, and there are plenty of restaurants across the street. There's a Starbucks downstairs, and it's a maximum 10-minute walk to Saka no Ue no Kumo. The tram stop outside the hotel can take you to Dogo Onsen.
Traveling with my teenage children, the town room was big and spacious, the single with double with 2 people would have been tight. We had two rooms, one twin room for triple use, and one double room for single use.
The place is brand new with a nice onsen on the top floor, awesome laundry machines for 600 yen per load
Breakfast was included.
Nice touch that they offer one free draft beer per person at arrival.
Great location to walk over for bike rental
The room was quite small, and the view from the window was a messy cityscape. You couldn't even see Matsuyama Castle from the room. Both the bedding and breakfast were of mediocre quality, which meant it wasn't great value for money.
However, the location was excellent. From Matsuyama Station, you can take tram line 3 or 5 to Okaido, and the hotel is just a two-minute walk from the tram stop. The hotel is surrounded by various dining options and is very close to department stores.
This is my second time staying at this hotel and am extremely pleased to be a returning customer. I finished a big tour of Shikoku by bike in the last 13 days with a friend now just returned to the same hotel for a couple of relaxing days before heading back home.
This hotel is at the heart of the Dogo district with great amenities, very friendly staff and top quality services. Iโd like to thank two of the hotel staff, Medo Shuhei and Jay whom have been very helpful to assist our stay during our trip. I have no hesitation to recommend this hotel to my friends and would be more than happy to stay in the same hotel next time visiting Matsuyama.
Had an amazing stay at Yamatoya Honten. The onsen was beautiful and really relaxing. One of the highlights was the all-you-can-drink bar right outside the onsen, such a unique touch that I havenโt seen anywhere else! The staff were fantastic, super friendly, and always happy to help. Would definitely recommend it!
Nice location. It's just like an ordinary Japanese hot spring hotel, the highlight is the hot spring pool on the top floor, where you can look up at the stars at night. The dinner was average (felt like a group meal). As other reviews suggested, if you don't have a meal package, you can go to the hot spring street to eat and you might have a better experience.
The hotel lobby looked quite dated, and it was larger than typical Japanese hotels, giving off the vibe of a renovated old building. I booked a Japanese-style room to try out the tatami, and it was pretty good. The toilet and shower/bath were separate, and both were on the small side. Overall, the experience was positive, although the place felt a bit old.
The location is very good, close to Uwajima Castle, shopping and pedestrian streets, very convenient. There is also a big supermarket not far away. It is just above the train station. There are no trains at night, so it is not noisy, but the motor noise of the building is constant. Even if the fresh air system is turned off in the room, it doesn't work. People with poor sleep should be careful!

็ฉ็ฉๆจๅฐๅ ฌไธปThe hotel is in Hengxiang, the facade is not conspicuous, looking for a long time, it was close to the front. I asked for a high-rise, but the self-service checkin machine gave me the second floor. I asked the staff and wanted a high floor, but she said that the second floor was a girl's floor. Then I asked for the room. How did I know that it was a very cramped room and I couldn't see the outside environment, because the low floor used frosted glass with windows equals no windows. I don't like it very much. I don't know why there is a washing machine room in the room. I don't know what to do with a washing machine. Fortunately, I stayed for one night and it would be one night!
VVictorI was there at Jan 2024, and only stayed there for 2 days.
The staff there can speak English, and were nice. The second day I stayed there, the staff offered me to have hotpot with all the other people living in Fujiya, an unforgettable experience I treasured and will forever remembered. Even though it is a proxy of a Japanese family, it did feel like I have experienced the Japanese hospitality and friendliness. There were some interesting characters, who may or may not frequented Fujiya, whom I had the pleasure to have this hotpot together.
The facilities are not the best, but the basics necessities were there and no complaining from me, they have an AC there, comfortable enough for me.
The staff did explain that there is only one shower, so we might have to wait for the person to finish. However, since the location is so close to Dogo Onsen, they did recommend to go there instead, and after all, it was why i chose this location in the first place. Location is really close to the Dogo Onsen and the Yuzuki-Castle ruin, which was a lifesaver for me
I would say that all other sight-seeing locations are within walking distance as well since I did walk to all those interesting places. However, I do realize not all people like to walk like I do. To counter that, Fujiya is practically next to the tram station, which you can use it to go to many places in the city.
tldr, would recommend
GGuest UserThe overall environment was great. However, thereโs one thing Iโm extremely dissatisfied withโthe walls! The wall between my room and the next is incredibly thin, and it even shakes. I have no idea what kind of ******* is staying next door, but around 12:30 a.m., they suddenly started banging on the wall multiple times. My bed is right up against that wall, and it shook violently three or four times, waking me up in shock. After that, about every hour, they kept hitting the wall again, making it shake like it was during an earthquake. I honestly never expected a hotel room at ANA to have walls of such poor quality! Even now, thinking back to that night still frightens me.

๊น๊น์๋ก์ดIt's a bit far from the Dogo Onsen area, so it's hard to get out once you enter, and there aren't many places to walk around.
However, it was nice that they welcomed us by blowing bubbles and giving us a sign when we checked in and checked out.
When I said it was our anniversary, they took pictures and printed them for us as a service.
They even gave us a cake as a service. ใ ใ
Overall, the facilities were a bit outdated, but we were able to use the hot spring open-air bath leisurely, and the anniversary private bath service was good.
However, there were a lot of group tourists, so it was inconvenient for breakfast and dinner.
Um... the food seemed to be at the level of a wedding hall buffet.
The friendly staff was nice!
Anyway, there were many other services, so it was good!
GGuest UserThe best central hotel you'll find. Fantastic value for money, the hotel is very clean and the staff is very friendly. It's only a few streets away from a massive shopping district including restaurants, so you won't have to go far when you're hungry. There's a tram station very nearby so you can get to Dogo Onsen easily.
The internet in the room is a godsend. Most hotels skimp on the internet so you can only load one webpage an hour, and it makes looking up day trip ideas and booking things a huge pain. At this hotel I had no issues with it. This made it the best hotel for a 'home base' to plan day trips from.
Beware Google Maps getting here, it points you to the southern side of the block, the entrance to this hotel is on the northern side of the block.

AayutripA Perfect Business Hotel! The rooms are new, clean, and compact but very functional. The bathroom was spotless and shiny. Personally, I really liked the library cafรฉ in the lobby โ a cozy space available to hotel guests even before check-in and after check-out. It offers free drinks, Wi-Fi, and power outlets. Breakfast had a limited selection, but everything was delicious.
