I had a pleasant stay at this hotel. The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were polite and helpful. The location was convenient, and all the basic amenities were provided. Overall, everything met my expectations, and I was satisfied with my stay.
Location not the best and can find nearer to Kyoto station with same price. The location only good to go Nijojo castle, Toji Temple & Ginkako temple. Nothing much nearby, no night bars only a restaurant opposite it.
The worst was no lift, for a female with 20 kg luggage, I have to carry it for 4 levels up and down all by myself. It’s understandable no space to install lift, but pls consider to install a luggage travel lift.
Layout of the room is very good especially bath and toilet inside the room. Some may not like it cause ppl may back late night to bath and make noises. But I do like the single room layout with small dress up table before the capsule bed.
There are many bus stops nearby, just a 2-3 minute walk away. A 7-Eleven is also right across the street, just a couple of steps away.
You don't have to worry about food, there are plenty of dining options near the hotel. Getting to places like Hachimangu Shrine is about a 30-minute journey, which is perfectly acceptable.
The hygiene is very good, and you can exchange 100-yen coins at the front desk.

Facilities: Very complete! There's even a mini-fridge in the room, which is super practical. The bathroom facilities are also great and clean.
Cleanliness: Very clean, very clean, very clean (can't emphasize enough!)
Environment: The environment is also very good, and they even upgraded my room for free~
Service: First-class service, the front desk staff were very patient, and there's occasionally a Chinese-speaking front desk staff member popping up, haha.
This trip to Kyoto, this hotel was truly satisfying, especially after the autumn foliage season – the value for money was incredible. It was very comfortable for one person, and I don't think it would be too cramped for two. The room is small but has everything you need. It's really, really clean and very safe. Toiletries can be self-service, and the quality is excellent.
Also, getting around from here is convenient. There's a bus stop right outside, and it's not far to Shijo Kawaramachi, Kamo River, and Kiyomizu-dera. There's also a direct bus to Kinkaku-ji. If you don't have too much luggage, walking to Kyoto Station isn't a problem, it's not far. There's a 7-Eleven and a Fresco supermarket nearby, and opposite the 7-Eleven is a Nakau, which I think is open very late or 24/7, I forget.
Oh! The hotel also has an ice machine and a microwave, which is really nice.

The room is exactly as shown in the pictures—very spacious, especially for a 5-night stay, including the bathroom. The beds were clean and comfortable, and there was extra bedding available in the closet. However, the curtains could use an upgrade, as a lot of sunlight comes through early in the morning.
The location was just okay. We had to commute quite a bit, mostly by walking and taking the bus to reach central areas like Nishiki, Gion, and Pontocho. While we enjoyed the neighborhood itself, the commute was less ideal in the summer heat.
There is no permanent staff at the front desk, but you can use the phone for assistance. The two staff members we did interact with were helpful and welcoming. It was also convenient to be able to leave our luggage locked at the entrance.
Cleaning could definitely be improved—there were noticeable layers of dust on furniture like the TV, bed headboard, and windos. Also, the hallway AC was crazy cold for summer. Coming in from the heat, the temperature difference was extreme, unhealthy, and even coming out from your room in the morning was uncomfortable.
This was our third stay at Agora Hotel Shijo Kyoto, and once again, it did not disappoint. The location is absolutely perfect—right in the heart of the city, making it easy to explore Kyoto’s highlights. Our room was spacious enough to comfortably fit two large suitcases, with plenty of space left to move around freely. The amenities provided were more than sufficient for a comfortable stay. We also appreciated the refreshing welcome drinks upon arrival, which was a nice touch after a long day of travel. Overall, a consistently great experience and we look forward to staying here again.

I really liked our hotel room. It was big enough for the two of us. Both the room and the bathroom were very clean. The staff were helpful as well. After our stay, we could also leave our luggage for a few hours before we left Kyoto so that was very nice. The hotel is also conveniently located because it's around 8 minutes walk from the Kyoto Station. Here, you don't have to worry about not having the same power outlets because they have USB type charging ports. The hotel feels relatively new as well. I really enjoyed our stay here.
Overall, we were very satisfied with the room! The location is very convenient, the facilities are complete, it's clean, and the service is excellent. Our plans changed last minute and we needed to switch room types, and the hotel quickly helped us resolve the issue! We're very pleased and will definitely stay here again next time we visit Kyoto.

There’s no water in the room, no drinking fountain. And the only vending machine that sells water requires a Japanese mobile app, which is not even available on US App Store. I had to go out at 1am to the convenience store outside just to get water. Need some work here.

Very Good
GGuest UserThe room was quite spacious, about 20 square meters, so there was plenty of space to lay out luggage without any worries. The bathroom was also a good size with a separate wet and dry area. However, I didn't use the shower there as I went to the large public bath on the 9th floor instead. Soaking in it was a great way to relieve the fatigue of a day of travel. The hotel is conveniently located right next to a bus stop, offering easy access to places like the National Museum, Ichiran Ramen (Shijo branch), and Shinshindo Bakery (Shijo branch).
__zfb2088002094772335The room was very quiet, and the breakfast offered a choice of Japanese and Western buffets. There's a souvenir shop next to the lobby that closes at 5 PM, where you can buy gifts. The location is very close to Nishi Hongan-ji Temple, and the giant ginkgo trees there are beautiful. It's about a six or seven-minute walk to the subway.

IiamnotdelicateThe basic room type isn't in the main building; you have to walk up to the main building each time to have breakfast or soak in the onsen (hot spring). And it's not a real onsen; my friend's superior room was the real onsen. We were given a small room at the back of the hotel, but thankfully there weren't too many graves.
When I asked the staff at the entrance to take photos for me, they were very reluctant and had a sour face. At night, on my way back to my room from my friend's, the receptionist on duty in the lobby was also very rude. Overall, I was dissatisfied with the service.
The facilities are excellent, very new, and the hotel is quite small, but that's typical for Japanese hotels. The decor is also very nice; the aesthetics are on point.
There are at least three cemeteries and a bunch of shrines nearby; bring some amulets if you like.
RReneehuangHighly Recommended Stay in Kyoto
I would like to strongly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Kyoto. The staff demonstrate exceptional professionalism and hospitality.
In particular, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to Miss Yuki, who assisted us with our check-in and kindly introduced many wonderful sightseeing spots and activities in Kyoto, as well as to Miss Tsai, a ********* staff member who supported us during check-out with great warmth and care. Their thoughtful service truly reflects the welcoming spirit of Kyoto and the hotel’s commitment to excellence.
I am genuinely impressed by the quality of the team members who bring guests happiness and satisfaction through their dedication. They truly deserve recognition and applause for their outstanding service.
Our two-night stay was far too short, and we are already looking forward to returning in the near future.
GGuest UserWe really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Briller, the location was comvenient and very easy to get all around Kyoto either by subways or the city busses, which all had stops within a few minutes walking-distance. We especially loved the shopping nearby that was recommended to us by the receptionist. The AEON mall was 7 minutes away and had tons of food spots as well as great shops. All the amenities at the hotel were great as well, and staff were all very friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Kyoto!

Great
GGuest UserTo start with the positives, the hotel was well located and easily accessible using the metro from Kyoto station. The room was a decent enough size and the staff were friendly and helpful.
One major issue we encountered during our stay was the level of humidity in the room. The extractor fan didn't seem to be doing anything to impact moisture in the room, particularly after a warm shower. There was some treated glass above the sink and often this was the only area without moisture well over half an hour after having a shower. (Photos attached) This also meant that towels weren't drying correctly and created an unpleasant environment and ultimately odour in the room. The humidity was so high that the windows were dripping with water consistently and the window sill was actually wet. Additionally the absence of a full wardrobe (just a rail with hangers on) also created challenges when staying for longer than a couple of days and this combined with the humidity made the washing machine almost obsolete.
Jjiadong100We booked a triple tatami room. As is typical for hotels in Japan, the rooms are quite compact, but we could conveniently store our luggage in the entryway. The bathroom was also small but absolutely spotless. The Kamo River is just a stone's throw away. A big plus is that the front desk staff speaks Chinese, making communication effortless. There's a coin-operated laundry facility on the first floor. Takashimaya department store is also within a short walk. If you go before its 8 PM closing, you can snag some great discounted food items from the B1 supermarket – excellent value!
ГГряникThank you very much, we really enjoyed our stay with you!
Your townhouse was very cozy and fully equipped. Comfortable house clothes, robes and slippers for any occasion (for the street, balcony, toilet and home) made our stay comfortable. The beds, although on the floor, were very comfortable. The mats felt nice and warm. The bathroom with wooden trim looks unusual and stylish. The small rock garden adds a nice accent. The Japanese-style breakfast was an interesting experience, especially the process of making soup yourself. The code entry on the door was very convenient. Thank you!

GGuest UserLocation: About a 10-minute walk from Kyoto Station, which is a great spot (especially since there's a direct airport line from Osaka Kansai Airport).
Cleanliness: Very clean, with bidets everywhere – very comfortable. I really like Japan's integrated bathrooms.
Facilities: Quite new, and the screen mirroring feature was a pleasant surprise.
Comfort: If there are two of you, I'd recommend booking a twin room. Japanese double beds are a bit cramped. It's small but has everything you need, though overall still a bit tight. The design is quite user-friendly, and there are bedside lamps.
Service: Japanese hotels are usually known for their excellent service, but not here at all. 1. Check-in and check-out are entirely self-service (I'm not sure what the four or five staff members at the front desk are actually doing – no wonder Japan has good employment figures and no 'rat race'). 2. This time I left something at the hotel. Online messages and email replies took several hours, and no one answered the phone (it reminded me of Mu Xin's poem, 'In the old days, the days passed slowly; carriages, horses, and mail were all slow; a lifetime was only long enough to love one person.' Tsk, tsk, tsk).

Amazing
MMagmagcuExcellent location just 3 minutes walking distance from Kyoto Station. You can get all toiletries amenities from the lobby, free flow of coffee, tea and soft drinks within a period of time. The room is normal Japanese size, enough for two people but cannot open both 20 inches suitcases at the same time. Cleanliness nothing more to say at this room rate. There has laundry area with few washing machine and dryer but the machine only accept electronic payment , they don’t accept cash and credit card which is reslly not user-friendly for tourists. When I seek the front desk assistance, they told me to go to laundry shop which is 8 mins walking distance. Not far away but we need to carry all the way back and forth. What’s the point of providing laundry service????
