Very nice hotel. Got to try city view and sea view. I had a minor inconvenience with the toilet door. Other than that amazing hotel. Will definitely come back.
Great location with amazing view. Where you can enjoy the beach view, the trains come and go while a handful of food places around the hotel. Can visit to Fort station and surrounding as well as Mount Lavinia area.
We recently stayed at Galle Face Hotel, Colombo with my family. Overall, the hotel experience was good, especially the location and service. However, the rooms feel overly traditional and colonial, which does not fully meet modern-day requirements. The heavy wooden furniture and old-fashioned, posh décor may appeal to older patrons who appreciate classic heritage styles, but it may not suit travelers looking for a more contemporary stay. The electrical points and facilities are also quite outdated and not convenient for today’s laptop- and gadget-dependent travelers. I would suggest that the hotel consider modernizing some rooms and amenities, while still preserving a few heritage-style rooms for guests who prefer the traditional experiences.
Amazing hotel. Very good staff and service. They always greet you smiling. They upgraded us to Executive room for a small price. Fahad- thanks for all your help.
Breakfast spread is amazing. Everything is worth trying.
I recently stayed at the Ramada by Wyndham Colombo, and overall it was a wonderful experience.
The room was extremely spacious, honestly one of the largest hotel rooms I have ever stayed in within Colombo. Everything was very clean and well maintained, and the amenities were excellent. The room included everything you might need—tea and coffee facilities, toiletries, toothbrushes, and more. The bed was very large and comfortable, and the TV, office table was huge as well. All the facilities such as the lights, air conditioning, and fan worked perfectly, so we had no issues at all.
Our room was on the 8th floor (top floor) and we had a nice view overlooking the Galle Face Hotel with a small view of the ocean. The location of the hotel is also excellent since it is very close to Galle Face Green and many other attractions in Colombo, which makes it very convenient for travelers.
The check-in process was smooth, and they welcomed us with a refreshing welcome drink. One thing to note is that the security procedure is quite strict. When we had guests visiting our room briefly, they had to provide their IDs and go through a security check. It was the first time I experienced this in a hotel, but it is understandable since it helps maintain safety.
Although we booked bed and breakfast, we later asked if we could add the dinner buffet, but unfortunately it was already full. However, something very kind happened later that night. My mother wanted chicken congee, so we asked the room service staff if it was available. Even though it was not on the menu at that moment, they were kind enough to prepare and send us a bowl of chicken congee. It was a very thoughtful gesture, and we truly appreciated their kindness.
The breakfast buffet was excellent with a very wide variety of food, and everything we tried was delicious. My family has always liked the buffets at Ramada, and this time was no different. They also had live cooking stations, and the staff there were very friendly and welcoming.
Overall, everything about the stay was great. The room, service, location, and food were all excellent.
I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this hotel. It is absolutely worth the price and offers great value for money.
We stayed at the hotel for one night before flying from Colombo to Russia. And it was the perfect choice! We were impressed with its friendliness, cleanliness, beautiful, cozy lounge areas, and spacious rooms!
It's a great choice for a pre- or post-flight getaway!
We were greeted from the very beginning upon arrival, our luggage was taken, and we were escorted to check-in. While we waited for our keys, we were given cold towels to cool down with and refreshments. It was the first time we'd encountered cold towels—just what we needed, as it was incredibly hot!
We were upgraded to a Superior Room with a complimentary room view, which was very nice.
Location: The hotel is 15 minutes from CMB International Airport. This is a definite plus, because the next morning we called a taxi and were at the airport in just 15 minutes.
It's not on the ocean, but it's located next to a beautiful lagoon—the view is stunning! The ocean is an 8-12-minute drive away, and the same distance to a street with shops, cafes, and bars.
Rooms: spacious, clean, with a wonderful balcony for the whole group! I'd call the shower a tropical downpour because of the incredible pressure! It has everything you need for comfort.
A refrigerator is the only thing missing in the rooms.
Amenities: The hotel has a pool, a restaurant, and a rooftop bar—everything you need.
Food: We didn't include breakfast in our rooms because the Sasha food court was nearby, where you can eat for half the price. But we did have dinner on the day of our arrival at the restaurant, at tables on the shore of the lagoon—it was amazing! The view is like being in a fancy restaurant. The prices aren't exorbitant, but the quality of the food is average. The food is worse than in Viligama. The pizza tasted like it came straight from a ribbon, the steaks were a bit dry, and the seafood was a bit underwhelming. 😏 But we've already been spoiled by the good food in Weligama. Overall, the restaurant is perfect for a snack and cocktails with a great sunset view!
The service: simply wonderful! Like a hotel in the Maldives)) They bring everything, help everyone, and don't even let you bring anything to the table yourself—they do everything for you. It was a real hit!
Conclusion: this is a wonderful hotel for a getaway before or after a flight! A couple of days here is a great option.
I had an absolutely wonderful stay and felt truly taken care of from the moment I arrived until I left. Every request was handled with genuine care and professionalism, and the level of hospitality clearly shows that customer satisfaction comes first.
A very special thank you to Mr Gajan from the Bell Service. He kindly accompanied me during check out and patiently waited with me for quite some time until my taxi arrived. His warmth, attentiveness and dedication made a lasting impression on me and truly represent outstanding service.
The in room dining was also excellent and of very high quality. Unfortunately I caught a cold during my stay and could not explore everything, but I will definitely come back.
A true five star experience. Highly recommended.
We checked into a twin room, and everything from the mattress to the pillows was incredibly comfortable; it felt like sleeping on a cloud. However, toiletries were only provided for one person, and there were only two large towels. There was also black mold in the corners of the shower.
Healthy options for breakfast were limited, consisting mostly of pastries, pancakes, and other sweet items. The breakfast to-go bag we received was equally disappointing, containing only four pastries and four small pieces of fruit.
The gym was very small, the air conditioning was broken, and it was very stuffy. While guests received a discount at the bar, an additional 30% for service charges and tips was added to the bill. Our key cards frequently stopped working, forcing us to visit the front desk repeatedly for assistance from a technician.
Always a pleasure to stay at Taj Samudra. Great service and a fantastic Breakfast Buffet. Some of the pricing e.g Fresh Orange juice in the Lobby cafe was extortionate, maybe an oversight
They’re good, and their service is also good. But their online response is very bad. I didn't get any response to when I texted and called them, as I had some queries.
But their hospitality is very good.
And food is also tasty.

MManuri LinaraI recently stayed at this hotel, and overall, it was a wonderful and memorable experience. Although the location is a little far from Colombo, I actually found it to be a positive aspect, as it gave us a chance to relax away from the busy city. After staying here, we continued our journey to Negombo, and the distance worked out just fine for us.
From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel very welcome. A special mention must go to Divni, who was incredibly sweet and attentive. She went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable, constantly checking if everything was going well and offering help whenever needed. Her warmth and hospitality truly stood out and made a big difference to our experience.
Check-in did take a little longer than expected, and there were some initial issues with the room reservation and meal plan arrangements. However, the staff handled the situation politely and worked to resolve it, which I appreciated.
The food was one of the highlights of our stay. The buffet by the pool was excellent, offering a wide variety of dishes to choose from. The action stations were a nice touch, adding freshness and variety to the meals. Everything I tried was delicious, and I found myself looking forward to each meal.
One of the most unique experiences was the afternoon tea at Kurulu Kele, which felt like stepping into a peaceful rural village. The setting was calm and relaxing, and the ginger tea along with the fish cutlets were simply delightful. Swinging on the onchillawa after so many years brought back childhood memories and added a special charm to the whole experience.
The beach view from the hotel is another highlight. Watching the sunrise and sunset over the ocean was breathtaking. I especially enjoyed spending time outside in the afternoons, just soaking in the peaceful atmosphere and enjoying the natural beauty.
Overall, I truly believe this hotel is worth every penny spent. I loved my time here and will definitely return. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for great hospitality, delicious food, and a peaceful getaway.

GGuest UserArrived very late and we’re still welcome
D with non alcoholic freshly made juice for my self and my littlest extremely accomodating at such a late hour breakfast was a buffet setup with. Oth Western European and traditional Sri Lanka cuisines and we still pretty much could order anything anyway - my daughter wanted western style eggs fried sunny side up on toast cracked them right there in front of here the view was incredible from our room you could hear the ocean crash against the rocks only wish we could have stayed longer really good people place service was exceptional- you. E nice they be nice easy peasy xox
RRajaratnam ChitranganAmazing location and friendly staff and clean rooms. Will be a added bonus if we can have Jaffna food Available all day from lunch time till midnight. Great experianca. Well done
IIan LagacLocation is great, just beside One Galle Face Mall. Plenty of restaurants and cafes around. Beautiful sunset views (from the bar, pool, restaurant, lobby) and Galle Face opposite the road. Rooms are gorgeous and spacious.
Checked in Dec 30-Jan 2 peak season. Hotel was fully booked. Waited in the lobby for my room to be ready upon check-in. Front desk said they will find me to let me know. Waited for more than an hour before I asked them again and told me that my room has been ready.
Ordered some room service which took more than an hour to be delivered. Granted they told me that it may take about 50 minutes because it was peak hours. Upon delivery they told me it was comped because of the long wait.
Pool, restaurant, and bar staff are all great. Very personable and accommodating.
Loved the sky pool on the 31st floor. No bar but not as crowded as the main pool.
Breakfast was great. A lot of choices. Asian selection is great. Pastries not so much, some didn’t seem fresh. Heard from some staff that it gets super busy from around 9 but didn’t experience any long wait. Plenty of tables to accommodate people.
Overall a great experience and will definitely stay here again if I’m in Colombo.
