The hotel reception is very detailed, the location is very convenient, and the scenery is beautiful.
The only thing is the power outage in the morning, which causes some inconvenience. Next time I come to New Zealand South Island, I will arrange to stay again.
We felt very comfortable. A friendly welcome, a large room, and free parking. The center is just a few minutes' walk away.
Unfortunately, the air conditioning wasn't enough to keep the room warm in the winter.
In the summer, you can enjoy the lovely pool :)
The positive first. It was a really good location and the rooms were clean.
But. We did book two rooms with double beds and sea view. We also payed for it. But we didn’t get what we paid for.
We got one double bed room and one room with a double bed and a single bed ( the single bed was really tiny btw). We went to the reception to ask because we were confused.
And the service wasn’t good at all. The woman at the reception told us that they don’t have two rooms that kind. And we ask why they offer something like that. She couldn’t tell us. She told us she could get us a downgrade to a family room. But that’s all she could do. And then she just laughed at us. We think it’s really rude.
The breakfast is not good at all. There is toast, some fruits, pancakes and oatmeal. Could be better.
After we checked out we just went outside and I saw on my account that the hotel charged my credit card with 100€. So I went back inside. And the man looked it up and told me ups was a mistake and he returned the money. I just found that really odd.
The facilities were fine. The double room we reserved came with only that.. a double bed. Not even a nightstand next to the bed or a table in the room. There was also no heater or fan and the room felt musty with a bit of moisture in the air. Could use a dehumidifier when it's raining out like it was this day/night. The other guests in the hotel were the problem. I was woken up at 4AM by someone upstairs in the smoking area chatting so loudly on their phone... I had to get out of my bed in the middle of the night and ask them to go somewhere else or end their call. It was absurd. In the middle of the night someone cooked a very fragrant meal that made the entire building smell - it was so intense that it even permeated into our room which was the furthest room away from the kitchen... not a great stay when you can't even sleep through the night and feel like you are sitting in the middle of someone's meal.. Not worth the price
It's about a 10 minute walk from the ferry and intercity bus stops, but the owner is very kind and welcoming. And best of all, the free breakfast. This price is a bargain, including the free breakfast.
Stayed for one night and overall it was quite comfortable. Although it is not in the center of town, it is only ten minutes' walk from the intercity station and train station, and a few minutes' walk is the commercial area. If you don’t have much luggage, you can walk there. The kitchen can be used for cooking and is very clean. In the camping area behind the hotel, you can take a walk after dinner and study various RVs, which is an eye-opener.
Blenheim is too young. I learned that there are no buses on weekends after I arrived. The popular museums and chocolate factories in the area are far away without driving. It took me 70 minutes to get to the museum. Fortunately, an employee of the museum sent me back to the hotel after get off work, otherwise I would have to go all the way back.
Good, comfortable motel. There is a mini kitchen. Two bedrooms, convenient to stay with the family. The room is clean, everything you need to eat. It's nice to swim in the pool.
The hotel is located in the downtown area of Blenheim, the capital of Marlborough Province, the famous white wine producing region of New Zealand. It is within 10 minutes walking distance from Blenheim railway station, bus station or downtown square. There are plenty of parking spaces in the hotel square, which is very convenient for walking and driving. The hotel rooms have a wide view and beautiful scenery. Although the rooms are a bit old, all the facilities and bedding are very tidy, clean and comfortable. All the staff are smiling, patient and enthusiastic. The hotel offers three meals a day, the menu is not extensive, but the food quality and taste are excellent. We stayed for two days. The experience was excellent and the price/performance ratio was very high. Going to a hotel not to be missed in Blenheim, highly recommended!
The place is not far from the town centre, just around 20 mins walk. The reception is nice and welcoming. The room is spacious. It can be a bit cold at night but the heater works well. The room’s sound proof isn’t very great. I can hear people next door close and open their room door. The kitchen area is supposed to open at 7am, but it was not when I left at around 7:30am, so it’s worth double checking the time with the reception.
We stayed at Portage Hotel as a family with three children and chose it as one of the final stops of our four-week road trip. It turned out to be one of the absolute highlights of our journey.
We were genuinely impressed by the location, the service, and the overall facilities. The setting is simply stunning, peaceful and scenic, yet the hotel offers a wide range of activities, which made it perfect for traveling with kids.
Despite being high season, the staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and truly customer-oriented. You never felt rushed or overlooked, which is not always a given during busy holiday periods.
We especially appreciated that many activities are included at no extra cost, such as canoes and stand-up paddleboards. There is also a pool, which was a big plus for the children after long days of exploring.
The rooms are well equipped and thoughtfully designed. A small but lovely detail was the beautifully scented selection of shampoos and creams provided in the room, which added a very pleasant touch to the stay.
The value for money feels absolutely justified. The food was good, the drink selection more than sufficient, and the wine list offered something for everyone.
All in all, a fantastic place for families and travelers looking for comfort, nature, and genuine hospitality. We would happily return and can highly recommend the Portage Hotel.

GGuest UserVery nice hotel. Rooms are clean + bed very confortable + bathroom nice and with a ”big” shower.
Front desk very friendly and helpful (especially Belem is very helpful and knows many languages).
Next time I will be in Blenheim I will go to the same hotel again.
Hope to see you again, Flurin
GGuest UserAn excellent boutique experience. Sennen House has a story to tell, and it’s a beautiful place to discover it. Set in a quiet location, its grounds are fantastic, utilising every piece of space cleverly; the welcoming croquet set was a taste of what was to come.
The room we stayed in was great. Nice views and good spaces. Having a separate living and dining area is always a bonus, but its well appointed kitchen with a coffee machine was an extra one! The little baking treats left each day were lovely touches and were enjoyed. It was lovely to organise and portion out our own breakfast each morning, and having ownership of this was a bonus.
If we are lucky enough to visit Picton again, we would definitely make this venue our first choice.
ZzuisanVery close to the ferry terminal and convenient. There were plenty of restaurants around the port.
There was no hair dryer in the room (because it was described as a facility at the time of booking ...), but I was happy to lend it! There were multiple bathrooms, so it was comfortable without being particularly crowded.
Breakfast was very helpful with toast, cereal, coffee, tea, etc. as a service! It was delicious! There were also flat plates and pots. At first I didn't know where and what was, but the owner helped me! Also, maybe there are two kitchens? It seemed to be there.
The owner was kind and I think it was very good as a backpacker inn!
EErma from CanadaPrivately owned, friendly owners. The room was roomy and clean. There is a sitting area out the back patio doors which was good. The outdoor furniture is a bit older. The bed and linens were good for a 2 night stay. We just needed a place to stay while we toured the area. Havelock where the postal boat tour is just a 35 minute drive away. There is a Countdown grocery store right across the street which was convenient. There are no restaurants within walking distance.
赵赵The location is a bit off, not in the core area of the town, but it also brings a rare peace. The standard Motel, the car parked at the door, the front desk after 10 o'clock in the evening after work, but fortunately generally do not need any services. This is a family self-driving tour, booked a two-bedroom suite, spacious and comfortable, and very clean. Fatigue for a day, I can take a hot bath, sleep in a soft and comfortable bed, and be happy again. The boss seems to be Chinese, warm and hospitable, and the boss is very warm. Check-in and check-out are simple and efficient, and this is a good recommendation.

切切尔西的飞虎74This motel is near to the ferry terminal, very convenient.the room is big and clean, face to the Main Street-High Way.There are two supermarkets near to the motel,it is easy to buy fruits, vegetables and drinks.I will choose it again.by the way,Picton is very small, but it is so beautiful and quiet.
