It’s actually surprisingly simple and honestly, it’s a brilliant way to break up a long journey. How to make it happen Just grab the express bus from the airport, it’s 35 AED per person, which is decent. Once you’re in Dubai, sort yourself out with a 22 AED Day Pass for the metro. The capital of the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi, keeps pace with its modern and rapidly growing neighboring emirate, Dubai. Abu Dhabi is considered the greenest emirate, and significant resources are invested in maintaining its greenery. After all, the capital is home to the parliament, government building, and the presidential palace. Diplomats from around the world come here, as Abu Dhabi is where the UAE president lives and works. The capital, like the rest of the country, boasts the very best. In this article, we'll discuss one of the largest mosques in the world—the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. The mosque is impressive in its scale, occupying an area of ​​12 hectares and able to accommodate 40,000 worshippers. Opened in 2007, every detail has been carefully considered, taking into account local geography and modern technology. There's a large parking lot adjacent to the mosque. But to avoid the scorching sun from your car to the mosque, the entrance is underground. The glass-domed entrance is an escalator that takes you into an entire underground city. It has everything from cafes and restaurants, including McDonald's, to various shops. There are clothing stores here that you can purchase to enter the mosque. The mosque has a strict dress code. Security inspects every inch of your clothing. Bare legs are not allowed inside—this applies to both women and men. Women must cover their arms and hair—a long-sleeved, hooded dress or a headscarf. Remember the rules and know what to wear for the Sheikh Zayed Mosque, as failure to comply will result in you not being allowed inside. After walking through long underground corridors, we reach the mosque itself. The entire mosque building and the surrounding square are made of white Italian marble. This material was chosen for a reason: Italian white marble does not heat up. Therefore, even in the intense summer heat, the square or the mosque itself is comfortable. At the entrance to the first hall, we see the first chandelier. It's the smallest of all the chandelier displays, but it's designed in a distinctive style, unlike the chandeliers in the main hall. The photo above shows two Guinness World Record holders. The first is the central chandelier. It's the largest chandelier in the world. It weighs 12 tons and is 15 meters high. The photo doesn't convey the scale, but for comparison, imagine that the average five-story building is 15 meters tall. The chandeliers are made of gold leaf and Swarovski crystals. The second record holder is the world's largest carpet. It was woven in Iran and delivered to the mosque in sections. The sections were sewn together on site, so it now forms one large, seamless carpet. The carpet weighs 47 tons, and the total cost was $8 million. Only worshippers may step on the carpet, entering the hall through a separate entrance. Tour groups can only admire the view from a designated passage. There are three chandeliers in the hall. The central one is the tallest, and two smaller, identical ones are on the sides. They are designed in the same style. Around the perimeter of the mosque are decorative "pools" of water. As the guide explained, the water here symbolizes wealth. However, this is simply a design decision, as the water is located near the columns, and in the evening, when the columns are illuminated, they are reflected in the water, visually making the mosque appear brighter, larger, and more opulent. The grounds are landscaped: lawns, bushes, and trees are everywhere. It's mind-boggling how much effort must have gone into maintaining this oasis in the desert. TeamLab in Abu Dhabi! TeamLab is a place where modern tech literally gives you goosebumps! Here's the story… We had a 12-hour layover in Abu Dhabi. I knew right away that I wanted to check out TeamLab and the aquarium if we had time left. Getting through the airport was a breeze—we were out in half an hour. Then we hopped in a taxi, and 30 minutes later, we arrived at TeamLab. Just a heads-up: you can leave your belongings inside, but the lockers don't have locks. So, you're leaving your stuff at your own risk. I felt a little uneasy leaving my laptop there. We walked into the first exhibit featuring "trees," and I immediately realized that this area alone completely justified the ticket price (around 3,000 rubles per person). I almost cried—it was so massive and unexpectedly beautiful! After spending about half an hour to an hour there, we moved on. The building is designed like this: there's a huge circular hall full of trees in the center, surrounded by other rooms. Because of this layout, you can explore the rooms in any order. We just looked for the shortest lines and went there. There’s also a lower level with a series of consecutive rooms where you actually walk through water. Honestly, all the exhibits inside are stunning. Every single room gives you chills. It amazed me because you'd think all this stuff has been done before: lasers, projectors, mirror reflections, and so on. But it was completely reimagined and put together in a way that makes you stand there thinking, "Wait, you can do that?" Who knew you could arrange 1,000 lasers to create moving figures in mid-air? Whoa! Wow. Who knew you could paint a giant sphere with the blackest paint in the world, making it impossible for the eye to tell if it's 3D or completely flat? Mind-blowing. And that "wow" factor never left me the entire time. The only thing I can't fully recommend is the tea room. It cost extra and, frankly, wasn't worth it. The setup was pretty basic, and it lacked that "wow" effect. Another quick tip: if your feet tend to get cold, bring a pair of warm socks to put on after the water exhibits. My feet were absolutely freezing there. We spent 4.5 hours exploring the exhibition. We took our time and often just stood there, completely mesmerized by the beauty around us. All in all, if you want to experience a true sense of awe and wonder, I highly recommend TeamLab! It's an absolute must-visit!

The 2️⃣ second thing to consider would be the transit benefit: while all three of them offer free transit hotel, Qatar and Emirates have a stricter policy—one’s only eligible if there are no better connections, which almost means that the transit cannot be used to explore the city—while Etihad offers free three/four-star hotel up to 2 nights to many different routes. Your shoulders, chest, arms, and legs must be completely covered. If you're wearing revealing clothing, they simply won't let you in. For family fun, it offers vibrant and thrilling entertainment across eight unique themed realms: One Ocean Abu Dhabi Ocean Microocean Tropical Ocean Rocky Point Antarctica Endless Ocean Arctic Here, you can observe a variety of animals (diverse underwater creatures, penguins, walruses, dolphins, flamingos, peacocks, parrots, and other birds—many of which you can even touch!), go on exciting rides suitable for both adults and children, or just relax and grab a bite at the restaurants. One Ocean is the starting point of your SeaWorld journey. It features a 360-degree virtual show that previews the different realms you'll encounter in the park. It also houses an animal care center. In this section, you can explore the marine life of the Arabian Gulf, including sharks, rays, turtles, and sea snakes. My thoughts: The aquarium is absolutely massive. If you love the underwater world, you will be deeply impressed by this spectacular sight. What amazed me the most were the gorgeous pink flamingos roaming free without cages—I just stood there in absolute awe. All the birds are well-groomed and clean, and there are no unpleasant odors around. This is the only place where you can see penguins without a glass barrier. Make sure to bring a jacket because it gets pretty cold; the area is kept at a specific temperature for the penguins, which isn't the most comfortable for humans. If you buy a standalone ticket with a combo lunch, it costs around $100. A regular ticket at the box office is about $87. To save even more money, you can purchase a multi-park pass for several theme parks located on Yas Island. Generally, all the parks on Yas Island are open daily from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. P.S.: They check bags and do not allow you to bring in outside food or drinks, so keep that in mind.
