🇮🇳From February 28th to March 2nd, I went on a girls' trip to India using Trip.com, where I purchased accommodation and travel vouchers✨ As it was my first time in India, I encountered many confusing situations and minor troubles, so I'd like to share them🫶🏻 📍The flight was a direct flight with JAL ▶︎The flight was very comfortable and wonderful♪ 📍The hotel was the Hyatt Regency Gurugram ▶︎The hotel itself was great, and even had a bathtub! ⭐︎Rice isn't included, but since there aren't any convenience stores or places to grab a snack nearby, I recommend adding breakfast 🥞 (because it's dangerous to go out late at night). On our last morning, we added the buffet, and they even surprised us with a cake, which made for a wonderful memory 🍰 🌀Recommended nearby spots: ⭐︎Sodhi's Supermarket सोढ़ी'स सुपरमार्केट (Supermarket) ▶︎Perfect for buying souvenirs. ⭐︎Easy Basket Supermarket ईजी बास्केट सुपरमार्केट (Safe shopping until late at night) ▶︎Like a shopping mall? You can shop even at night. ⚠️However, since it takes a little over an hour by car from New Delhi, this hotel is not recommended for those who prefer to be closer to the city center. 🇮🇳This was my first visit to India, and I found many people to be friendly and kind, especially those who are fond of Japan. Japanese people seemed to be a rare sight, and I was often asked for photos, lol. 〈Points to Note〉 ①I applied for an e-visa when leaving the country, but I was so satisfied with just that that I didn't print it out. Everyone else had printed theirs out, so be sure to print it out! 🉐 It will make things much smoother. ②After leaving the country, my luggage was taken off the rails without my permission, and I had a hard time finding it. It's a good idea to attach a clearly identifiable strap. ③Uber is a must for taxis. It helps avoid being ripped off. ④It takes over 5 hours from the plane to the Taj Mahal, so it's a test of endurance! I recommend booking a tour in advance. ▶︎Tour operators are friendly, but they'll try to sell you expensive things, so be sure to clearly say "No❌". Don't let them take advantage of you!! ️ ▶︎Souvenirs are expensive in tourist areas, so I recommend buying them in Delhi. 〈Recommended SPOT〉 ⭐︎Happy Hunter Tea Boutique & Tea Salon (Indian Tea Specialty Shop) ▶︎A tea shop recommended for souvenirs. They offer many tea samples. It's located near the Red Fort. It's within walking distance. (There are many stalls around, so walking is quite difficult, about 20 minutes.) ⭐︎LoCol by Subko लोकल बाय सबको ▶︎Coffee shop It's expensive for India, but it makes a great souvenir! The location is hard to find, and it's dangerous to go there at night. ⭐︎Devan's South Indian Coffee and Tea pvt ltd देवन'स साउथ इंडियन कॉफी एंड टी पीवीटी एलटीडी ▶︎Traditional coffee shop The beans were quite cheap, so I bought about 1 kg. How did the Taj Mahal (Figures 1-3) become the pinnacle of Mughal architectural art in India? It is one of the New Seven Wonders of the World and a World Cultural Heritage site, but no miracle is built in the air. In the 70 years before the Taj Mahal, three tombs had a huge influence on it: the Humayun's Tomb, Akbar's Tomb, and the Tomb of Itimad-ud-Daulah. Humayun's Tomb (Figures 4-6), the tomb of the second emperor of the Mughal Empire, was designed by a Persian architect and built between 1562 and 1570. It is also a World Heritage site. It was the first to apply the Persian Charbagh garden symbolizing paradise, pioneered the tall double-domed structure, and used a composite geometric composition with an octagonal main body on a square base. The main structure is red sandstone, with white marble used only for window lattices and decorative borders, creating a red-and-white style. Humayun's Tomb established the basic trinity of Mughal tombs: "garden + dome + high platform," becoming the prototype for all subsequent royal tombs. Akbar's Tomb (Figures 7-9), the tomb of the third Mughal emperor, was built between 1605 and 1613. Its south gate is the most spectacular, with white marble minarets added at the four corners, which became the prototype for the minarets placed around the Taj Mahal. It features a five-tiered stepped platform that narrows progressively, with the bottom four layers made of red sandstone and the top layer of white marble, increasing the proportion of white in the red-and-white scheme. This architectural marvel, surrounded by beautiful nature, is a historical site that attracts tourists from all over the world. Visitors should note that bags will be thoroughly checked, and large bags are not allowed inside, so prepare accordingly. 📍 The Taj Mahal is closed every Friday and open from Saturday to Thursday, from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM (sunrise to sunset). 📍 For ticket prices, showing a Thai passport will reduce the ticket cost to approximately 530 INR (if not mistaken). Ticket prices differ for international tourists and Indian nationals. 📍 To enter the Taj Mahal, after purchasing a ticket, join the queue, which is separated by gender. Gandhi Smriti Museum • Impressions: This was Gandhi's final restroom and the site of his assassination. The seat felt smaller than I expected. I was the only Japanese person in the room, so it was a little lonely, but the Indian person sitting next to me was very friendly and taught me a lot about India during the flight. (It's especially reassuring to have a man with experience traveling with you.) However, if you are "perfectly thorough" in your security awareness, it's possible to enjoy your trip safely! Knowing information about fraud groups will help protect you. ⚠️ Real-Life Crime Stories I heard real-life stories of scams I experienced while traveling in India from people I met on the road. • Example: I was approached in the street, and while chatting at a cafe, I suddenly lost consciousness. • Result: All my money and passport were taken. (Sleeping pills had been put in my bag.) 💁 Precautions and Specific Strategies from a Woman's Perspective My basic travel philosophy is "safety first." I recommend you also refer to my other article, "Real Strategies for Solo Female Travelers Abroad," but this time I'll focus specifically on my trip to India. 1. Don't Trust Anyone Many scammers try to appeal to your emotions, but as a non-local, I can't judge. So I basically didn't trust anyone and responded firmly. 2. Only paid for and booked transportation in advance. I used Uber and hotel-arranged cars, avoiding taxis and tuk-tuks. 3. Eat all your meals at the hotel and avoid going out at night. For hygiene reasons, I avoided food stalls to avoid stomach aches. I also avoided going out after 6 PM. Going out at night is especially dangerous. Be careful of your flight arrival time. Money is priceless. 4. Pay attention to restroom conditions • Restrooms are hard to find in the city, so it's recommended to use them before going out to avoid the risk of stomach aches. [Health Management: Stomach Aches & Dengue Fever Prevention] ☺️ Stomach Aches Prevention (Successful!) • Avoid raw vegetables and fruit (eat cooked food). • Use bottled water even when brushing your teeth. • Don't trust free water at hotels; drink water from unopened bottles. (Always check that the lid is closed before purchasing. Open bottles are sometimes sold.) • Avoid gargling while showering and getting water in your eyes. (Due to the risk of conjunctivitis and dysentery.) 🦟 Dengue Fever Prevention (with some regrets) I was bitten by mosquitoes three times. 😭 • I should have used insect repellent more frequently. (Once a day wasn't enough. 😢) • I should have worn light-colored clothing (especially white). Black and gray clothing attract mosquitoes, so be careful. • If you're prone to mosquito bites, it's best to avoid dengue fever season. 📝Finally: For those considering a trip to India India is an exciting and fascinating country with many historical heritage sites, but my honest opinion is that it's "for experienced travelers."
