#NovemberDestinations2025 Akaroa is a port town in the Canterbury region of New Zealand's South Island, renowned for its French charm and wildlife. It's a resort harbor with relatively few tourists from the East. The main reason to visit Akaroa is to take a boat trip to see the fjords and the endangered Hector's dolphins, and even swim with them. Driving to this town involves navigating through mountains. Along the way, we encountered sheepdogs and flocks of sheep. For someone from a small town like myself, seeing sheep and sheepdogs crossing the road was incredibly exciting!

Absolutely stunning! The best part of the entire trip! 📍Shamarra Alpacas, Akaroa, New Zealand 🏞️ Nestled against Akaroa Harbour, every shot is photogenic. 🦙 We fed the alpacas up close, but please don't touch their rear ends! Afterwards, we strolled around Christchurch city (Botanic Gardens, Avon River), then went to the supermarket to buy groceries and cook instant noodles. A collector's edition Oceania photo!

Recommended destinations for those who have experienced both seasons in New Zealand!! 📍Lake Tekapo: The glacial water gives it an unbelievably stunning color, like a real-life Powerade. (Photos 1, 2) 📍Akaroa: Just about an hour from Christchurch, Akaroa is a small town with a charming French vibe. It's one of my favorite travel destinations—so peaceful and serene. The journey there is majestic, and you can enjoy activities like visiting the Shamarra Alpaca Farm or taking a dolphin cruise. If you're in Christchurch, I highly recommend staying overnight here. —>☀️ Recommended! (Photos 2, 3) 📍Mount Cook: The tallest mountain in New Zealand and a must-visit destination on the South Island! While summer offers breathtaking views, I personally think trekking in the cold winter, sweating while witnessing the frozen glaciers, is a more rewarding experience. 📍Akaroa Just about an hour and a half drive from Christchurch, Akaroa is perfect for a day trip. While there are cruise activities to see the world's smallest dolphins, this time, we decided to simply stroll around the town. The area is filled with bay-like spots, and the sea is so calm and serene that it almost feels like a lake. There are parks, squares, benches, and tables, making it an ideal spot for a relaxing picnic. On the way from Christchurch, you’ll pass by Barrys Bay Traditional Cheese, an outlet factory for cheese. We stopped there to buy some cheese and drinks, and enjoyed lunch on a bench in the square. 🍽️ The town is dotted with quaint shops and souvenir stores, making it perfect for a leisurely walk. There are also many stylish cafes to enjoy. ☕️ The French-inspired architecture gives the town a European vibe. 🚶♀️ On the way, there’s also the Shamarra Alpaca Farm, where you can interact with alpacas. It’s definitely worth a visit! 🚗 About 1.5 hours by car from Christchurch The scenic drive itself is part of the fun! ☺️

Part II of my visit led me along the coastal paths and into the hills that wrap around the bay. The views just keep getting better the higher you go. The water shines like glass, and small boats leave soft trails across the surface. The air smells like salt and wild grass, and the breeze feels cool and refreshing. I stopped often just to enjoy the peace and silence. Back in town, the rhythm stays relaxed. Locals greet you with a smile, and small bakeries tempt you with warm pastries. It feels like time moves slower here. Akaroa is not just a place to visit. It is a place to breathe deeply and appreciate how simple moments can feel special.
