Philadelphia | A BBQ Spot Perfect for Meat Lovers
Summary: This is one of the few Southern-style BBQ joints outside the South that I would visit repeatedly. If you love American BBQ, you must give it a try! The owner hails from Alabama, so the quality of the meats is top-notch. They open at 12 PM, and by early afternoon, certain types of meat are often sold out. It's a small place with only six tables, but despite the constant flow of customers, you can usually find a seat. The only downside is the slippery floor!
Ribs | Surprisingly delicious! The rub has a hint of sweetness, and the ribs are cooked long enough for the fat to fully melt, making them not greasy at all. They're flavorful but not overly salty, and I personally think you can skip the BBQ sauce. Reheating them at home makes them even better! Their half rack seems to be larger than usual too!
Roast Pork Sandwich | Highly recommended! The meat is lean but not dry, with a smoky aroma. Paired with their sauce, it’s incredibly satisfying!
Sausage | This week’s special was hot Italian sausage, and I finally tasted a sausage that wasn’t overly salty! Less salt means fresher meat! Despite being less salty, it’s still packed with flavor and not overly greasy—a must-try for sausage lovers!
Brisket | It has a proper smoke ring! There’s minimal seasoning, letting the natural flavor of the meat shine. It’s so tender that it practically dances in your mouth. Before you know it, it’s all gone!
Sides | If you enjoy collard greens, give theirs a try. It’s not overly salty, which is rare to find—most places make them either too salty or too bland. Their version is soft and tender, but if you’re not a fan of mushy textures, you might want to skip it. Mike loves their mac n’ cheese, saying it’s creamy with a complex flavor that’s more than just cheese.
