Amphawa Floating Market, Bangkok 🇹🇭
#bangkok
Amphawa Floating Market is one of the most popular tourist destinations. This floating market is located around 50km away from the main city, so advisable to go no later than early afternoon so you will have plenty of time to explore the market.
The experience is absolutely amazing with so many boats full of variety of food. We also took the boat ride which took around an hour and showed us the whole floating market.

TheTravelingSuitcase (@thetravelingsuitcasee) amphawa floating market 2h from bangkok city
we took a klook package and boarded the tour bus at siam paragon exit 5 11am on a Friday in September. after $10 coupon we grabbed, it was around $90+ for 2 adults.
it consisted of maeklong railway market and amphawa floating market with fireflies. the floating market has quite a number of stalls and branches off across 2 bridges over the amphawa river. oysters were cheap but a bit bland. we chose to dine by the river but beware of active kids falling through the gap below the table.
the highlight was fireflies after the sunset, so we boarded the 620pm motorboat as arranged by our guide. the boat first passed by some temples and a 5-star hotel, before heading the other way for fireflies which light up like an Xmas tree. along the way there were more bridges and temples.

It is a market that has been around since ancient times. It is located on both sides of the canal near Wat Amphawan Chetiyaram.
Before getting on the boat, we parked the car near the Amphawa Chaipattananurak Project Office.
Chaipattana Foundation Then walk a little bit and you will find a pier waiting to provide service.
There are both per person and charter services. You can ask for the price before getting on the boat.
Whisper, I went on a chartered boat for 600 baht. It was very private. The boat driver also gave very good advice.
You can also choose the route to go. This time, I chose the view route. Take in the evening atmosphere amidst the river

Experience the sweetness of Thailand's royal family in Amphawa!
When we visited Amphawa in the past, we usually visited the floating market. This time, we went to "Tao Tan Mitr Preecha" nearby to learn about the traditional culture of coconut sugar production. This is not just a simple trip, but a wonderful journey to experience Thai culture and royal feelings.
-
Tao Tan Mitr Preecha is a paradise specially designated by the Thai royal family to support traditional skills and prevent the loss of coconut sugar skills. As soon as I walked into this area, I immediately smelled the sweet smell of coconut sugar being boiled in the air. Here, I not only saw the collection of coconut sugar raw materials and the production process, but also tasted pure coconut sugar. The rich coconut fragrance instantly spread in my mouth, which was intoxicating.
-
There are also coconut salt, shrimp paste, pomelo vinegar, etc. made by local people by hand. Local condiments and food can be purchased. It is a good choice to bring such down-to-earth gifts back home to friends and family.
-
This visit to Tao Tan Mitr Preecha is not just a simple trip for me. It allows me to understand Thai culture more deeply, feel the respect and support of the royal family for traditional culture, and also gain a lot of touch and surprise!

Review of Riverton Amphawa Accommodation
If you're looking for a place to stay near Bangkok, Riverton Amphawa might be a good choice to escape the hustle and bustle of the capital. You can drive here to relax by the Mae Klong River and enjoy a slow-paced life in Amphawa. The hotel is not very large but it meets standards and has a good design.
Location 🏡: It's by the water with a nice atmosphere. Traveling around Amphawa is quite convenient and it's not far from the floating market.
Room 🛏️: The room size is just right and the design is good, making it feel comfortable and airy. However, there are no tea, coffee, or hot water kettles in the room; these are only available in the common areas like the lobby and buildings.
Meal 🍲: Breakfast is a buffet with a reasonable selection for the size of the hotel. The Thai food is delicious.
Services 👫: Nothing stands out. The staff are mostly young and might need to improve their service skills, but overall it's not bad.
If you're tired of Bangkok and want to stroll around the floating market, travel close to the city, and enjoy delicious seafood, this is another interesting hotel option.
