Anacapri travel guide and discussion

#summerbeachnights Before you read do Follow me, so I can add value for your future travels Here is how I Did it - I flew from London to Naples, made Naples my base, and visited Capri and Ischia by ferry. And genuinely? I would do it this way again. I found a cheap stay/Airbnb in Naples, which meant I could wake up in one of Italy’s most chaotic, colourful and food-obsessed cities, have a proper Neapolitan coffee in the morning, and then simply walk down towards the port and jump on a ferry. ⛴️ First stop: CAPRI 🍋💙 The moment you arrive, you understand the hype. Blue water, dramatic cliffs, little streets climbing into the hills and those postcard views everywhere you turn. But here is the important part: I didn’t need a Capri hotel to experience Capri. I went over for the day, explored the island, enjoyed the views and that beautiful Capri summer atmosphere, then caught the ferry back to Naples. No £500-a-night room required. 😅 Then I did ISCHIA 🌋🌊 This one surprised me even more. Ischia has a completely different energy from Capri. It felt greener, more relaxed and less about being seen. Beaches, thermal-island vibes, colourful Italian streets and gorgeous views, exactly the kind of place where you suddenly start wondering why you don’t live in Italy. Again, I enjoyed the island during the day and simply returned to my inexpensive Naples base afterwards. And Naples itself wasn’t just somewhere I slept. That would be a huge mistake. I wandered through the narrow streets, ate ridiculously good pizza, grabbed pastries and espresso, watched scooters somehow squeeze through spaces that shouldn’t physically be possible 😂 and spent evenings just enjoying the atmosphere. 🍕 FOOD TIP: Naples is one city where eating extremely well doesn’t have to destroy your budget. If you’re planning a similar trip, look around the historic centre for traditional trattorias and pizzerias rather than automatically eating beside the biggest tourist sights. One place worth putting on your list is La Locanda Gesù Vecchio for proper Neapolitan cooking. My favourite part was that this trip felt expensive without actually being expensive. ✈️ London → Naples 🏠 Budget hotel/Airbnb in Naples ⛴️ Naples → Capri → Naples ⛴️ Naples → Ischia → Naples 🍕 Proper Neapolitan food ☕ Far too many Italian coffees 🌊 Two incredible islands 💰 My trip: under £400 Obviously prices change depending on flights, dates and how early you book, but the strategy is the important part. Don’t automatically stay where everyone tells you to stay. In peak summer, Capri and Ischia accommodation can become seriously expensive. Staying in Naples gave me the best of both worlds: Naples at night, the islands during the day, and hundreds of pounds left in my pocket. If you’re travelling from London and want that dreamy Italian-island summer without paying dreamy Italian-island hotel prices, SAVE THIS IDEA. 🇮🇹❤️ Sometimes the best travel hack isn’t finding a cheaper hotel. It’s sleeping somewhere else. 😉 #Naples #Napoli #Capri #Ischia #ItalySummer #TravelHack #LondonToItaly #CapriItaly #IschiaItaly #NaplesItaly #AmalfiCoast #ItalianSummer #SummerInItaly

#summerbeachnights Capri looks like the kind of place where you need to stay overnight. I didn’t. I stayed in Naples, took an early ferry to Capri, spent the full day on the island and came back that evening. For my trip, avoiding a Capri hotel saved me roughly £800. My ferry left around 7:45am and the fast crossing from Naples is typically about 45-50 minutes, depending on the service and sea conditions. Ferries arrive at Marina Grande. My perfect Capri day 👇 🚤 Morning - Marina Grande → Capri Town Take the funicular uphill, wander around the Piazzetta, then walk Via Camerelle towards the Faraglioni viewpoint. 🥗 Eat this Try ravioli capresi, a Caprese salad and something lemony. For a quick beach lunch, a panino caprese is perfect. 🏖️ Swim - Marina Piccola This would be my beach pick because you get that classic view towards the Faraglioni rocks. 🚠 If you still have time - Anacapri Head up to Monte Solaro for one of the island’s biggest panoramic views. For a one-day trip, I’d choose this OR a full boat tour rather than rushing through everything. 🚤 Then back to Marina Grande for the evening ferry to Naples. 💡 My biggest Capri hack: Spend on the island, not necessarily on sleeping on the island. Naples → early ferry → Capri all day → Naples at night. You still get the sea, food, viewpoints and that proper Capri feeling - without automatically paying Capri accommodation prices. 📍 Capri, Campania, Italy 🇮🇹

Floating in the sparkling waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea, Capri is one of Italy’s most enchanting islands. Famous for its dramatic cliffs, crystal-clear blue waters, charming streets, and breathtaking coastal views, Capri has been captivating travelers for centuries. The moment I arrived, I understood why this island is considered one of the jewels of the Mediterranean. Colorful boats drifted across turquoise waters while rugged limestone cliffs rose majestically from the sea. 🌊 One of the highlights was admiring the iconic Faraglioni Rocks, towering sea stacks that have become a symbol of Capri. Seeing them surrounded by the deep blue Mediterranean was simply unforgettable. 💙 The island’s famous Blue Grotto felt almost magical, with sunlight transforming the water into an incredible glowing shade of blue that seemed impossible to believe until seen in person. 🌿 Wandering through Capri’s charming streets revealed elegant boutiques, colorful flowers, hidden alleyways, and spectacular viewpoints overlooking the sea. 🌅 My favorite moment was watching the sunset paint the sky in shades of gold, pink, and orange while the Mediterranean shimmered below. It was the perfect ending to a day in paradise. 📸 Every corner of Capri seemed made for photography, from dramatic coastal viewpoints to picturesque village streets and breathtaking sea panoramas. ✨ Capri is more than an island—it’s a place where natural beauty, elegance, and Mediterranean charm come together perfectly. 📍 Capri, Italy 🇮🇹 “Some islands are beautiful. Capri is pure Mediterranean magic.” ✨ #Capri #Italy #VisitItaly #Mediterranean #BlueGrotto #Faraglioni #TravelPhotography #TripMoments #Tripcom #IslandParadise #Wanderlust #TravelMemories #ExploreItaly #BeautifulDestinationss

#photovsrealitytravel 7 Days in Southern Italy – The Real Deal: Beauty & Pitfalls, Honest Talk! 🍋 Named a "must‑see in a lifetime" by National Geographic – the Amalfi Coast with its cliff‑hanging coloured houses, Mediterranean blues, and lemon scent… Yes, it's breathtakingly beautiful. But the pitfalls? Also soul‑crushing! · -- 📅 7‑Day Highlights Route Day 1‑2 Naples: Pompeii ruins (mind‑blowing volcanic remains), Castel dell'Ovo at sunset (super photogenic), and a pilgrimage to the birthplace of Neapolitan pizza (a must‑eat!) Day 3‑4 Amalfi Coast: Positano's colourful cliffside village, Amalfi's cathedral, and lemon markets with those viral lemon ice creams. Day 5‑7 Capri / Sorrento: Blue Grotto adventure, Sorrento lemon souvenirs, and the Path of the Gods hike. · -- ✨ Moments That Left Me Speechless Positano's pastel houses tumbling down the cliffs like a spilled paintbox; the water around Capri so blue it looks unreal; sitting on a cliff watching the Mediterranean turn peachy pink at sunset – every view is pure therapy. Locals are warm and friendly, and prices are surprisingly affordable – a street pizza is only €5! · -- 💔 And Now, the Soul‑Crushing Pitfalls 🚌 Transport is a NIGHTMARE! Trains are regularly 3 hours late – no joke. Buses require a ticket from a tobacco shop (tabacchi) that closes early, and night‑time ticket machines often don't work. A 3‑km taxi can cost €300 – highway robbery! Most hotels are up on the hills, so you'll be dragging your suitcase up stone steps – you'll come home with glutes of steel. The Amalfi Coast road is insanely narrow with endless hairpin turns – never drive here as a beginner! 💸 Value for money? What value? In Positano on a weekend, you won't find a hotel under €600/night. Restaurants are notorious for hidden charges – bread fees, water fees quietly added to your bill, and seaside restaurants charge double. Supermarkets along the coast are rarer than Ferraris – stock up on snacks beforehand! ⚠️ Other soul‑crushing details: Buses are always late, signs are confusing; the alleys are more twisted than spaghetti, and your GPS will say "Current location: Medieval Times." Motion‑sickness pills are a must if you're prone to carsickness. · -- 💡 Practical Survival Tips · Accommodation: Base yourself in Sorrento – it's 30% cheaper than coastal towns, or pick a family B&B on the edge of Amalfi town (€80‑100/night). · Transport: The SITA bus from Naples to Sorrento costs only €5 – saves you 80% compared to taxis. Buy your bus tickets in advance from vending machines or tabacchi. · Outfit: Comfortable shoes are non‑negotiable! You'll walk and climb a lot. Bring waterproof sandals and swimwear too. · Safety: Keep a money belt and a phone lanyard – pickpockets are active. · Best time: April–June or September–October to avoid crowds; July–August is overcrowded and overpriced. Southern Italy is that "high‑maintenance lover" – you'll hate and love it at the same time, but looking back, all you'll remember are the golden‑edged memories 💛. Go with your eyes open – it's still absolutely worth it!

💰 Prices & When to Go Prices vary significantly by season. During high season (summer), suites start from approximately $989 per night. In peak season, there's a minimum stay requirement of 3 nights. The hotel is open from April to October. If your goal is to save, consider May–June or September–October (shoulder season): prices are gentler, and crowds are noticeably thinner. ‼️Budget hacks: According to aggregators, the lowest prices are in January (around £116 per night) and on Saturdays (average £944). But it's best to check current rates for 2026 before booking. 👫 Who This Hotel Is For Ideal for couples and honeymooners discerning travellers who appreciate Le Corbusier's architecture, peace and quiet, and local character rather than faceless international brands. ❌Not suitable for: · Families with young children guests are only accepted from age 12. · Those who want a beach at their doorstep the hotel is on a cliff, reaching the water is not straightforward. · Anyone looking for a year-round resort it's seasonal. 🧘 What to Do On-Site The main activity here is doing nothing but with a view: · Lounge by the two pools (one with a Jacuzzi) right above the Faraglioni rocks. · Dine by candlelight at the Michelin-starred Le Monzù on the open terrace Chef Antonio Pedana serves Campanian cuisine. · Sip gin at the Tragara Club over 150 varieties and a sunset over the sea. · Rent a scooter and explore Capri like a local. Or charter a yacht for a day along the Amalfi Coast. · Visit the spa by Narducci Wellness with pure vegan cosmetics. 🧡 Important: Punta Tragara isn't just a hotel. It's where Capri finally stops pretending. People come here not for shopping, but for the feeling of touching something real. Getting here isn't straightforward (a 15-minute walk from the funicular, porters carry luggage for around €25 per bag), but that only adds to its charm. #travel2026 #couplestrip #capri

Picture-perfect cliffs, shimmering Mediterranean blues, and fragrant lemon groves mark every step of your Anacapri adventure—Capri truly knows how to wow. 🍋✨ Start your journey by heading to Anacapri for a more relaxed, authentic vibe. Take the iconic chairlift up Monte Solaro for jaw-dropping panoramic views—snap that must-have Insta-worthy shot overlooking the turquoise sea framed by lush greenery. Don’t miss a stroll through the charming old town with whitewashed houses and vibrant flowers; every corner begs for its photo. Walk the scenic pathways to Villa San Michele, where the architecture blends seamlessly with the gardens and endless sky. The mosaics, sculptures, and sweeping vistas from the terrace make it a magical stop. For ultimate tranquility, head to the Church of San Michele and marvel at the gorgeous majolica floor depicting Adam and Eve—a hidden gem for art lovers. 💡 Pre-trip tips: Pack comfy shoes for cobblestone walks and sun protection—Capri’s sun is strong! Arrive early to dodge the midday crowds and heat. Capri is open all year, but spring and fall offer the best weather and lighter crowds. Precaution: The chairlift is secure, but if you’re nervous about heights, take your time and sit near the middle. Keep valuables close, as bustling towns can attract pickpockets. Capri dazzles with beauty in every direction—whether you're after epic views, artistic treasures, or local flavors, Anacapri promises sun-drenched memories. #Capri #Anacapri #TravelGuide #Italy #MediterraneanMagic

#photovsrealitytravel I had seen Capri so many times online that I thought I already knew what it would feel like — dramatic cliffs, impossibly blue water, tiny boats floating beneath the rocks, and the glowing Blue Grotto looking almost unreal. And the surprising part? The photos weren’t lying. The water really was that blue. The cliffs really were that dramatic. And the moment we entered the grotto and the sea suddenly began glowing beneath us felt every bit as magical as I had imagined. But there was another side the perfect photos rarely show. Crowded streets under the midday sun. Boats gathered around the cave entrance. Waiting for your turn while dozens of other travelers are hoping for exactly the same picture and the same experience. For a moment, I wondered if all that waiting would make Capri feel overrated. It didn’t. Because when our little boat finally moved toward the darkness of the cave and that electric-blue light appeared across the water, I completely forgot about the queue. That’s the reality of famous places sometimes: they can be crowded and still be extraordinary. Capri wasn’t the quiet, empty paradise social media sometimes makes it look like. It was louder. Busier. More chaotic. And somehow, still unforgettable. The photo was beautiful. The reality was too — just with more people in it. #photovsrealitytravel #Capri #ItalyTravel #BlueGrotto #TravelReality #TravelMoments #BeautifulDestinationss #Italy #Wanderlust

☀️ A Perfect Day Exploring Capri 🇮🇹💙 Two weeks ago I finally visited the beautiful island of Capri, and it completely lived up to the hype. From crystal-clear waters to breathtaking viewpoints, every corner felt like something out of a postcard. ✨ I started my journey by taking the ferry from Molo Beverello in Naples ⛴️. The crossing took around 50 minutes, and with the sun shining over the Bay of Naples, the trip itself was already part of the experience. As soon as I arrived at Marina Grande, I took the famous funicular 🚋 up to Capri town. The ride only lasts a few minutes, but the views over the harbour become more impressive with every second. Walking through the colourful streets of Capri was one of my favourite parts of the day. 🌺 White buildings covered in flowers, luxury boutiques, cafés and hidden little alleys make it the perfect place to simply wander around without rushing. Every turn reveals another beautiful photo opportunity. One stop you absolutely can’t miss is the Gardens of Augustus 🌿. The panoramic terraces offer incredible views over the famous Faraglioni Rocks, the turquoise sea and the winding Via Krupp below. It’s one of the most iconic viewpoints on the island and easily one of the best places for photos. After exploring the town, I headed to one of Capri’s most famous attractions: the Blue Grotto (Grotta Azzurra) 💙🚣♂️. Boarding a small rowing boat and passing through the tiny entrance into the cave was unforgettable. Inside, the sunlight reflects through the water, creating an intense electric-blue glow that almost doesn’t look real. It’s one of those places you have to experience in person. Throughout the afternoon I enjoyed walking around the island, stopping at scenic viewpoints, relaxing by the sea and simply taking in the Mediterranean atmosphere. Capri is surprisingly easy to explore in a day, but every moment feels special. 🗺️ My suggested one-day itinerary ⛴️ Ferry from Naples (Molo Beverello) to Marina Grande 🚋 Funicular to Capri Town ☕ Explore the historic centre and enjoy breakfast or a coffee 🌺 Wander through the flower-filled streets 🌿 Visit the Gardens of Augustus for panoramic views 💙 Take the boat excursion to the Blue Grotto 📸 Stop at the Faraglioni viewpoints before heading back to the harbour If you’re visiting the Amalfi Coast or Naples, Capri is one of the easiest and most rewarding day trips you can take. My advice is to arrive early, wear comfortable shoes, and leave plenty of time to simply enjoy the scenery instead of rushing from place to place. Sometimes the best memories come from slowing down and appreciating every view. 🌊☀️ Capri truly stole my heart, and I already know I’ll be back one day. 🇮🇹💙 📍 Marina Grande, Capri ⛴️ 📍 Capri Town 🌺 📍 Gardens of Augustus 🌿 📍 Faraglioni Rocks 🪨 📍 Blue Grotto (Grotta Azzurra) 💙 📅 Visited: 4 weeks ago 🇮🇹✨ #Capri #BlueGrotto #GrottaAzzurra #Italy #AmalfiCoast #Faraglioni #VisitCapri #CapriIsland #ItalianSummer #TravelItaly #Travel #Wanderlust #HiddenGems #TravelPhotography #BucketList

Imagine waking up to turquoise Mediterranean water, walking through villages built into dramatic cliffs, following lemon-scented paths through the hills and ending the day with fresh seafood overlooking the sea. Welcome to the Amalfi Coast. 🍋💙 This is not just a destination for beautiful photos. It is a place for hiking, swimming, exploring historic towns, discovering local food and simply slowing down. Here’s your guide to experiencing the Amalfi Coast beyond the postcard views 👇 📍 1. POSITANO — THE ICONIC VILLAGE Positano is the image most people associate with the Amalfi Coast. Pastel-coloured houses cascade down the cliffs towards the sea, while narrow streets connect boutiques, cafés, restaurants and viewpoints. ✨ Explore: · Spiaggia Grande · Fornillo Beach · Church of Santa Maria Assunta · Via dei Mulini · The small streets and stairways around the historic centre 💡 Experience: Take a boat trip along the coast. Seeing Positano from the water gives you a completely different perspective. And be prepared for stairs — LOTS of them. 😄 🏛️ 2. AMALFI — HISTORY BESIDE THE SEA Amalfi is much more than a pretty coastal town. It was once one of Italy’s powerful maritime republics, and its historic centre still reflects that extraordinary past. Don’t miss: ⛪ Amalfi Cathedral 🏛️ Cloister of Paradise 🌊 Marina Grande 🏘️ The narrow historic streets After exploring, sit in a piazza with a cold drink and try something made with the region’s famous lemons. 🍋 3. FOLLOW THE LEMONS You will quickly notice that lemons are everywhere. The steep hills surrounding the coast are covered with traditional terraces where lemons, olives and vines have been cultivated for generations. Try: 🍋 Fresh lemonade 🍋 Lemon granita 🍋 Lemon sorbet 🍋 Lemon cake 🍋 Lemon pasta 🍋 Limoncello The local lemon is not simply a decoration here — it is part of the culture and cuisine. 🥾 4. THE PATH OF THE GODS Want an unforgettable adventure? Walk the famous Sentiero degli Dei — the Path of the Gods. The trail runs high above the coastline between the mountain villages and offers spectacular views over the Mediterranean and Positano. 🥾 Wear proper hiking shoes 💧 Carry enough water ☀️ Protect yourself from the sun 📸 Keep your camera ready This is one of the best experiences on the entire coast for travellers who love nature and hiking. 🌺 5. RAVELLO — THE VIEW FROM ABOVE While Positano gives you the classic coastal view, Ravello gives you something different. Located high above the sea, Ravello is known for elegant gardens, historic villas and breathtaking panoramic views. Visit: 🌿 Villa Rufolo 🌺 Villa Cimbrone 🌊 The Terrace of Infinity Come in the late afternoon and stay until golden hour. 💚 6. FIORDO DI FURORE One of the most dramatic corners of the coast. Huge cliffs surround a tiny coastal inlet, creating a landscape that looks almost unreal. It is not the place to expect a huge sandy beach. Instead, come for the scenery, the sea and the extraordinary natural landscape. 🌊 7. SEE THE COAST FROM THE WATER One of the biggest mistakes is experiencing Amalfi only from the road. During the main travel season, boats and ferries connect several coastal towns. The journey itself becomes part of the experience. ⛵ Positano ⛵ Amalfi ⛵ Maiori ⛵ Minori ⛵ Capri Sit outside, watch the cliffs disappear behind you and enjoy the Mediterranean breeze. 🏖️ 8. YES — THERE ARE BEACHES The Amalfi Coast is not famous for enormous sandy beaches. Most beaches are small, rocky or pebble-covered coves surrounded by cliffs. But that is exactly what makes them special. Look for: 🏖️ Spiaggia Grande 🏖️ Fornillo Beach 🏖️ Maiori Beach 🏖️ Minori Beach 🏖️ Small hidden coves accessible by boat For a quieter experience, consider visiting earlier in the morning. 🐟 9. CETARA — FOR SEAFOOD LOVERS If you want to experience a quieter and more traditional side of the coast, visit Cetara. This small fishing village is particularly famous for anchovies and seafood. Try local dishes featuring: 🐟 Fresh anchovies 🦐 Local seafood 🍝 Seafood pasta 🫒 Mediterranean ingredients It is a great place to experience the connection between the coast and its cuisine. 🍝 10. WHAT SHOULD YOU EAT? You cannot visit the Amalfi Coast without eating. Start with: 🍝 Scialatielli ai Frutti di Mare Fresh local pasta served with seafood. 🍋 Spaghetti al Limone Simple, creamy and intensely lemony. 🐟 Fresh grilled fish Perfect with local herbs, olive oil and lemon. 🍅 Caprese salad Fresh tomatoes, mozzarella, basil and olive oil. 🍋 Delizia al Limone A soft lemon dessert that is almost impossible to resist. 🍦 Lemon gelato Because one lemon dessert is never enough. 🥂 Pair your meal with a local wine and take your time. 🍋 11. TRY THE LOCAL SPECIALITIES The best meals here are often the simplest. Look for small family-run restaurants and traditional trattorias rather than choosing somewhere simply because it has the best view. Order slowly. Share several dishes. Finish with coffee or something lemon-based. That is how you experience the food culture of the coast. 🏘️ 12. EXPLORE THE SMALLER TOWNS Don’t spend your entire trip in Positano. Add some of the smaller towns to your route: 📍 Praiano 📍 Atrani 📍 Cetara 📍 Minori 📍 Maiori 📍 Vietri sul Mare Each has a different personality. Vietri sul Mare is especially famous for colourful ceramics, while Atrani offers a much smaller and more intimate historic atmosphere. 🌿 13. THE LEMON PATH Between Minori and Maiori you can discover paths surrounded by lemon terraces and traditional agricultural landscapes. This is one of the best ways to see a quieter side of the Amalfi Coast. Instead of looking at the coastline from a boat or beach, you experience it from inside the landscape. 📸 14. THE BEST PHOTO MOMENTS Save these moments: 🌅 Sunrise over Positano ⛵ A boat ride along the cliffs 🍋 Lemon terraces 🌊 Fiordo di Furore 🌺 Ravello gardens 🏘️ The colourful streets of Amalfi 🌅 Sunset above the coast 🍝 Seafood lunch overlooking the water But don’t spend the whole trip behind your camera. Some of the best memories happen when you simply stop and look around. 🚶 15. WALK, DON’T RUSH The Amalfi Coast is made for slow travel. Walk through the narrow streets. Stop for an espresso. Sit beside the sea. Talk to locals. Try something you’ve never eaten before. Take the longer route. Watch the sunset. And leave enough space in your itinerary for discovering something you never planned. ❤️ 16. THE PERFECT AMALFI DAY ☀️ Morning: Explore Positano before the busiest hours. ☕ Breakfast: Espresso + a fresh pastry. ⛵ Late morning: Boat ride along the coast. 🍝 Lunch: Fresh seafood and local pasta. 🌿 Afternoon: Explore Amalfi or Ravello. 🍋 Sunset: Lemon dessert and a panoramic view. 🍷 Evening: Slow dinner beside the sea. 🌙 Night: Walk through the illuminated streets. No rushing. No complicated schedule. Just the Mediterranean way of life. 🇮🇹 17. AMALFI COAST TRAVEL TIPS · Comfortable shoes are essential. · Expect lots of stairs. · Carry water, especially in summer. · Start hikes early. · Bring swimwear. · Ferries and boat services can be seasonal. · Allow extra travel time during busy periods. · Explore smaller towns instead of staying only in Positano. · Try local food rather than ordering familiar dishes. · Leave some free time in your itinerary. · The coastline is best enjoyed slowly. 🌊 THE AMALFI COAST IS MORE THAN A VIEW. It is the sound of boats moving across the water. The smell of lemons in the summer air. The taste of fresh seafood. The sound of footsteps on ancient stone streets. A swim in a tiny cove. A sunset from a mountain terrace. And a long dinner that somehow lasts for hours. 🇮🇹🍋 COME FOR THE VIEWS. STAY FOR THE FOOD. LEAVE WITH MEMORIES. Would you explore the Amalfi Coast for 3 days, 5 days or a full week? 🌊👇 #amalficoast #italytravel #visititaly #amalfi #pathofthegods #italianfood #travelguide #mediterranean #europetravel #travelinspiration #bucketlisttravel #traveltips #tripcom #bucketlistdestinations

But that is exactly where its charm lies — The sounds of people, scooters, pizzerias, old alleys, and the sea with Vesuvius as a backdrop. 🇮🇹 It's a city that gives you the feeling: "This is truly Southern Italy."

For this trip, we really wanted to visit Capri, but instead of staying on the island, we decided to stay in Sorrento. We found more accommodation choices there and the prices were also more affordable than staying on Capri itself. It actually worked out really well because Sorrento is a lovely town on its own, and getting to Capri is very easy. You can take a ferry or high-speed ferry from Marina Piccola in Sorrento directly to Capri. The journey is quite short, usually around 20–30 minutes, with several departures during the summer. In 2026, a one-way ticket is roughly €21–26 per person depending on the ferry company and departure time. If you’re going during summer, I would recommend checking the latest schedule and booking your preferred morning ferry in advance. I’m actually really glad we stayed in Sorrento because the town itself is so cute. It sits high above the sea, with beautiful old buildings, little streets, restaurants and amazing views from the cliffs. So it didn’t feel like Sorrento was just somewhere we stayed before going to Capri at all. One of my favorite experiences in Capri was seeing the island from the sea. Since we were traveling as a group, we rented a small boat and drove it ourselves. They showed us how to use the boat and explained where we could go before we left. I remember being quite excited because it was something completely new for us! You can still find self-drive boat rentals around Capri today, although the rules depend on the boat and rental company, so I would recommend checking the latest requirements before booking. Seeing Capri from the water was probably one of the best parts of the trip. You can really see how dramatic the island is, with huge limestone cliffs rising straight out of the sea. The color of the water was also so beautiful. Farther out it was deep blue, but closer to the coast it changed into this really bright turquoise. Coming from Thailand, I found the Mediterranean Sea quite different from the tropical sea we are used to seeing back home. After exploring from the water, we went up towards Anacapri. If you have time, you can continue up to Monte Solaro, the highest point on Capri at 589 meters. The view from this side of the island is amazing. You can look down and see the white houses, little boats, the marina and that beautiful blue sea stretching out in front of you. Walking around Capri and Anacapri is also really nice. There are little streets, cafés, shops and lemons everywhere! 🍋 You’ll find lemon souvenirs, sweets, ceramics and all kinds of local lemon products around this part of Italy. If you want to visit Capri but don’t necessarily want to stay on the island, I think staying in Sorrento and doing Capri as a day trip is a really nice option. You get to experience two beautiful places in one trip, and if possible, I would definitely recommend seeing Capri both from the sea and from above. They feel completely different, but both views are absolutely beautiful. #capri #sorrento #mediterraneanvibes #southernthailand

To be honest, I thought Italy was already beautiful before coming. Until the moment the boat approached Capri, I was completely stunned. The sea is an unreal shade of blue, white houses stacked on the cliffs, lemon trees reaching over the walls. Being named one of National Geographic’s 50 must-visit places in a lifetime is no exaggeration. 💚 These spots are worth a special visit Blue Grotto: the soul of Capri. From 11 AM to 2 PM, sunlight hits the cave entrance directly, making the water glow fluorescent blue. But it closes if the wind or waves are strong, so check the weather before you go. Augustus Gardens: 1.5 euros for admission, overlooking the Faraglioni rocks and the entire jelly-like sea. The S-shaped cliffside road is right below, perfect for photos. Mount Solaro: take the open-air chairlift up for 14 euros round trip. The summit offers a 360° unobstructed view of the whole island and sea. Anacapri: on the other side of the main town, less crowded and more relaxed. Lemon tree courtyard restaurants are all here. 🗺️ How to see the highlights in one day Take a boat from Naples or Sorrento to the pier (about 40–50 minutes) → cable car or bus up to Capri town → Augustus Gardens → bus to Anacapri → Solaro chairlift → return in the evening. If you have time, stay overnight. When the tourists leave at dusk, the town becomes incredibly peaceful. 🚢 How to get there Take the ferry from Naples (most frequent service) or Sorrento (shortest trip, 25 minutes). Buy round-trip tickets in advance during peak season. The island bus is the best deal at 2 euros per ride. Taxis are expensive, a 10-minute ride can cost 20 euros. 🍜 What to eat Lemon pasta is a must-try, refreshing like swallowing a mouthful of sunshine. Capri salad (tomato + buffalo mozzarella) is classic. Find a courtyard with lemon trees to sit in—that’s the real Capri experience. ⚠️ Keep these in mind · The Blue Grotto depends on the weather, don’t pin all your hopes on it · The island is full of stairs and slopes, wear comfortable shoes · Bring cash, many places only accept cash · In peak season, queues for the pier cable car are long; walking 15 minutes up to town is often faster The blue of Capri can’t be captured in photos.

Capri, rated by National Geographic as one of the 50 places to visit in a lifetime, truly lives up to its reputation. Take a fast boat from Sorrento and arrive in 40 minutes. After getting off the boat, take the cable car up the mountain, and the entire bay unfolds beneath your feet. The ticket to the Augustus Gardens is only €1.5. Standing at the cliff’s edge looking down, the three Faraglioni rocks rise from the blue-green sea, and the zigzag road clings to the mountainside. The most unforgettable experience is the Blue Grotto. Switch to a small boat to enter the one-meter-high cave entrance. Sunlight lights up the entire cave in fluorescent blue, and the boatman hums an Italian folk song. That moment is truly breathtaking. In the evening, take the chairlift up Mount Solaro, your feet dangling in the air. Looking back, the whole Bay of Naples melts into the sunset—worth every moment. Suggested itinerary Two days and one night is just right. Day 1: arrive on the island → cable car to Capri town → Augustus Gardens → Blue Grotto in the afternoon. Day 2: panoramic view from Mount Solaro → stroll old alleys in Anacapri → return in the afternoon. What to eat Limoncello is a must-try—refreshingly sweet and sour. Buonocore’s handmade gelato with freshly baked cones, the fig flavor is amazing. Travel tips July and August are the busiest months. Book accommodations and boat tickets in advance. The Blue Grotto is highly weather-dependent; the best time to visit on sunny days is 11 AM–2 PM. Island buses cost €2 per ride, and taxis are expensive. Places like Capri are completely different in photos than in real life.

Planning to visit the Amalfi Coast but don't want to drive? Honestly, I get it! The roads are narrow and chaotic, traffic can be intense, and parking is expensive and limited. Public transport takes a bit more planning, but it's 100 percent doable and way less stressful! Save this Amalfi Coast mini guide for · ater! HOW TO GET AROUND THE AMALFI COAST Naples-Sorrento: Take the Circumvesuviana or Campania Express train. It's the easiest way to start your trip and takes about 1.5 hours. Sorrento-Capri: Ferry is the way to go. It's quick (around 30 minutes) and super straightforward. Sorrento-Positano: The SITA bus takes about 45-60 minutes and usually leaves earlier in the day, which is good for day trips, but it gets insanely crowded. The ferry takes 40 minutes to 1.5 hours depending on the route. It costs more, but it's way more comfortable! If you're doing a day trip, l would take an early bus to Positano, and book a late ferry back to Sorrento. um Positano-Amalfi: Same story here. The bus takes around 40 minutes and is usually packed. The ferry is 15-30 minutes, more expensive, but much easier. Amalfi-Ravello: Bus only, it takes about 30 minutes. The bus starts from Amalfi, so if you're coming from somewhere else, you'll need to change here. USEFUL TIPS FOR VISITING Where to stay: I'd personally split the trip between two bases: Sorrento and Positano/Amalfi. If you want just one base, Positano or Amalfi works too, you'll just spend more time commuting. How long: 5-7 days Best time to visit: May or early June, or September-October Book trains and ferries in advance if you can, especially in peak season · Buy bus tickets ahead of time. You usually can't buy them on the bus, you need to get them at bus stations, tobacco shops, or newspaper stands. #amalficoast #amalficoastitaly #amalfi #positano #italytravel

Many people’s first impression of Capri is only the internet-famous Blue Grotto’s glowing sea. But those who have truly visited this Mediterranean island understand: It is never just a single trendy check-in spot, but Italy’s secret utopia that perfectly blends gentle mountains and sea, vintage artistry, and a lazy vacation vibe. Unlike noisy popular islands, Capri carries a cool yet soothing atmosphere. This brand-new original guide avoids the cliché templates found everywhere online, offering you a niche, no-fail, relaxed, and unhurried authentic island arrival guide. 🌊 About Capri: The Mediterranean’s top niche island Located in the Bay of Naples, Capri Island is surrounded by turquoise sea on three sides. Thanks to its unique geological features and stunning sea views, it has been a private vacation spot for European nobility for centuries. Compared to the weighty history of Sicily or the lively atmosphere of Cinque Terre, Capri’s beauty is tranquil and sophisticated. By day, it’s a transparent, healing gradient of blue sea; by dusk, a tender, lingering orange sunset—year-round, it’s like a painting. Beyond the legendary Blue Grotto, every alley and cliff viewpoint hides breathtaking scenery unknown to many, perfect for slow strolling, daydreaming, and completely escaping city anxiety. 🚢 Exclusive tested island transportation | Save time, avoid pitfalls, and don’t waste money 1. Departure ports (choose one as needed) · Sorrento Port: Closer to the island, about 30 minutes by boat, frequent departures, ideal for visitors staying in Sorrento · Naples Port: Larger boats with more stability, luggage-friendly, 45-50 minutes boat ride, suitable for direct departure from the city 2. Ticket purchase & pitfall avoidance details Priority should be given to NLG official ferries, which are stable and punctual, costing 15-18 euros one way per person. Avoid street scalpers who charge heavy premiums and may sell invalid tickets. No extra luggage check-in needed; small backpacks are free, and large luggage over 28 inches only requires a 2-euro surcharge. 3. Sisters! Finally checked in at this Mediterranean gem—Capri Island 🌊 Being named one of National Geographic's "50 Places to See Before You Die" is no exaggeration! From ancient Roman emperors to modern celebrities, everyone has fallen in love with this place, where the Mediterranean blue, warm sunshine, and romantic softness are woven into every moment~ · ✈️ How to get there? Departing from Naples is the most common choice, with fast boats taking about 50 minutes to 1 hour 20 minutes. You can also depart from Sorrento, with a boat ride of only 20-25 minutes and the most frequent departures. · 💰 Ticket price reference: From Sorrento about €19-22 per person per trip, from Naples about €21-28 per person per trip. Sisters buying tickets at Sorrento pier, I bought mine half an hour in advance on the same day, no need to worry about sold-out tickets! · 🏝️ Island transportation After arriving at Marina Grande pier, most tourists choose to take the funicular up to Capri town, which takes only 4 minutes and costs about €2.4, but queues can be long during peak times. If there are many people, it’s recommended to switch to a bus or taxi. · Island transportation options: · Public bus: cheap (€2.4 per person), frequent departures, but small buses and crowded, winding roads may cause motion sickness · Convertible taxi: super vacation vibe! Colorful convertibles with sea breeze and music, an excellent experience, about €25-30 one way · Walking: stunning scenery but uphill, prepare your sneakers · 🏛️ Must-visit attractions 🔵 Blue Grotto (Grotta Azzurra) Must be first on the list! Take a small boat through the 1-meter-high cave entrance, where sunlight refracts to turn the water into a dreamy sapphire blue, shimmering like an underwater secret realm. The boatman even sings Italian folk songs, romantically breathtaking~Best viewing time: sunny days from 11 am to 2 pm, when the blue is most intense. ⚠️ The Blue Grotto may close due to weather, so it’s best to check its status before departure. · 💐 Augustus Gardens (Giardini di Augusto) Only €2 for a ticket to enjoy stunning sea views! Overlooking the iconic three Faraglioni rocks and the famous serpentine road Via Krupp, zooming in 2-3 times with a telephoto lens makes for amazing photos~The S-shaped curve clings to the cliff and extends downward, unbelievably beautiful. · 🚠 Monte Solaro Chairlift The most interesting cable car I’ve ever ridden! A wooden chair with no protection, feet dangling in the air as you ascend. It’s nerve-wracking at first, but once the sea view appears, it’s totally worth it! Round trip €14, 360° panoramic views of the whole island and Mount Vesuvius. · 🏘️ Capri Town vs Anacapri Capri Town is elegant and luxurious, with boutique shops and cafes scattered around, the air filled with lemon fragrance; Anacapri is quieter and more rustic, hiding the purest slow pace of southern Italy~ · Capri is an island worth slowing down to feel. No need to obsess over sightseeing spots—just sit on a bench in Augustus Gardens to enjoy the breeze, or wander casually through the old town’s alleys. This relaxed southern Italian vibe is the most charming thing here~☀️💙

Capri Island, rated by National Geographic as one of the 50 places you must visit in your lifetime, is a favorite vacation spot for old money from Europe and America! Sorrento, Salerno, Amalfi, and Positano all have ferries to Capri, with Sorrento having the most frequent departures and Salerno the least; 【Sorrento — Capri Island】 📍Pier Address: The Sorrento ferry departs from Marina Piccola port, where many ferry companies operate different types of boats, all going to Capri Island. 💰Price: Prices vary depending on the type and speed of the boat. The most expensive I saw was over 40 euros. We chose Laremar, priced at 21.4 euros per person, which is also very fast, taking 35 minutes, and there is no extra charge for luggage. Their boats are large, capable of carrying cars onboard, and the ride is very smooth with no seasickness at all. 🎫How to buy tickets: You can buy tickets at the pier on the day of travel. We tried to buy in advance but were told that advance tickets cost 4 euros more per ticket. I also asked the ticket office staff, and he said he has never encountered a sold-out ferry on the day, so no worries—just come half an hour early to buy tickets on the day! 🚢How to board the ferry: Follow the signs at the pier. After entering, you will see Arabic numbers like 1, 2, 3... on the flood wall. Wait at the correct pier in advance; 【Capri Island — Naples】 📍The ticket window in Capri is right at the pier where you disembark, about 100 meters to the right. 💰Price: We chose SNAV this time. Their boats are a bit smaller but still quite stable. The price is 22.5 euros per person, but luggage costs 5 euros per piece. 🔔Tips: 1️⃣ When buying tickets, remember to ask the staff which pier number the boat will dock at! After entering the two ports, 2️⃣ The ferry sells some simple snacks, drinks, and coffee onboard. The restrooms are also very clean!

Lemons. Oranges. Jelly-clear seas. And summer. The Feeling: Some places taste like sunshine. Southern Italy is one of them. The air smells of citrus and salt. The sea is so clear it looks like someone poured liquid sapphire over white stone. The lemons are the size of your palm — sweet enough to eat raw, fragrant enough to bottle. The Coast: Amalfi. Positano. Ravello. Capri. Names that sound like songs. Cliffside villages tumbling toward the water. Bougainvillea exploding over whitewashed walls. Tiny boats bobbing in marinas. And everywhere — everywhere — the light. Golden, honeyed, impossible. The Fruit: 🍋 Lemons — in limoncello, in cakes, in pasta, in the air you breathe. The Sfusato Amalfitano. Only here. Only like this. 🍊 Oranges — growing wild in villa gardens. Bitter and sweet. Arancini (fried rice balls) shaped like them, named for them. 🍋 Limoncello: Icy cold, served in tiny ceramic glasses. A digestivo that tastes like summer saved in a bottle. The Sea (The "Jellyfish Sea"): They call it "mare a forma di medusa" — the jellyfish sea. Because the water is so clear, so calm, so eerily blue that it looks like liquid glass. Like you could scoop it with a spoon. You jump off a boat. The water is warm. Salt on your lips. Sun on your shoulders. You float. You forget what time it is. That's the point. The Vibe: Call Me By Your Name energy. Slow afternoons. Late dinners. The scent of cypress and sea salt. A life that feels like a movie you don't want to end. What to Do: 🍋 Limoncello tasting — in Sorrento, Capri, or any hillside village 🍊 Arancini, cannoli, granita al limone — eat all of it 🛥️ Boat day — around Capri, along the Amalfi Coast, to the hidden coves 💙 Swim in the jellyfish sea — yes, it's that clear. Yes, it's that cold (in the best way) 🌅 Sunset — find a terrace facing west. Watch the sun melt into the Mediterranean. Stay until the stars come out The Truth: Southern Italy doesn't try to impress you. It just is. Hot, loud, chaotic, beautiful. The streets are narrow. The driving is aggressive. The heat is real. But the sea — the sea — makes up for everything. And the lemons. And the oranges. And the way the light turns gold at the end of the day, like someone turned up the warmth on the whole world. You'll leave. But you'll never forget. #SouthernItaly #CostieraAmalfitana #Positano #Capri #Limoncello #JellyfishSea #SummerInItaly #CallMeByYourName

🏖️ Vibe/Facilities: 💎 The **Blue Grotto (Grotta Azzurra)** in Capri is one of Italy's most celebrated natural wonders, often hailed as "God's perfectly mixed blue palette." 💎 What makes this sea cave world-famous is how sunlight refracts through a secondary underwater opening beneath the entrance. This natural phenomenon filters out red light, causing the entire body of water to emit a dreamy, crystal-clear, and seemingly glowing sapphire blue from the bottom up. 💞 Why I Recommend It: 💎 A Unique Entry Experience Visiting the Blue Grotto is an adventure in itself. Because the entrance is incredibly narrow (only about 1 meter high), larger boats can't fit. Upon arriving at the entrance, visitors must transfer into special **four-seater wooden rowboats (Gozzo)**. As the boat approaches the opening, the boatman will shout a warning, and all passengers must immediately "lie flat" on the bottom of the boat. Using an iron chain attached to the rock wall, the boatman times the swells perfectly to slide the boat into the cave. This thrilling and slightly nerve-wracking process is an indispensable part of the Blue Grotto experience. 💎 Practical Travel Guide Best Time to Visit: Aim for between 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM. During this window, the angle of direct sunlight is optimal, making the blue glow inside the cave the most dazzling. Weather and Luck: Whether the Blue Grotto opens depends entirely on the day's sea conditions and tides. If the sea is rough or the tide is too high, the entrance gets completely submerged, and the cave closes. Therefore, to avoid disappointment, always check with the pier or boat companies to confirm if it's open before heading out. 🏃🏻♂️➡️ Itinerary Planning: The Blue Grotto is located on the northwest side of the island. You can take a larger shuttle boat from **Marina Grande** to the waters just outside the grotto and transfer to a rowboat. Alternatively, you can catch a bus from Anacapri to the land entrance above the cave, then walk down the stairs to the shoreline to line up for a rowboat.
