2026 Anshun Travel Guide: must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transport & travel experiences (updated in January)

Round trip to Guizhou, one-day tour of Huangguoshu Waterfall Take the high-speed train directly from Guizhou to Anshun, which is convenient and fast. There are plenty of tourist shuttle buses right after you get off. You can buy round-trip tickets here. If you buy a return ticket, they will call you by 6 PM to ensure you have a ride back. If you don’t buy a return ticket, be aware that it’s hard to find transportation outside after about 6 PM, so keep an eye on the time. Tour order: lower half of Tianxingqiao - Doupokou Bridge - Big Waterfall If you only want to visit the lower half of Tianxingqiao, you need to climb stairs; there are signs indicating the lower half of Tianxingqiao. Personally, I feel Doupokou Bridge has only one waterfall and is quite monotonous. I just took a photo of the waterfall and returned the same way to save time and be easier on the legs. Then head forward to Xiaketing plank road to see the Big Waterfall from a god’s-eye view, which I highly recommend. Here you can capture the pool above the waterfall in the photo, which looks better. Other spots only capture the lower part of the waterfall. Remember to book the Water Curtain Cave in advance. What if you can’t get a reservation? 1) You can go directly and tell the staff; if there are few people, they might let you in. Try only if it’s not crowded; if it’s busy, it probably won’t work. 2) See if you can find scalpers. You need to wear a raincoat in the Water Curtain Cave. Actually, you can go without one, but you’ll probably get wet, though it should be bearable. Buy raincoats directly at the Huangguoshu Scenic Area, usually for 2 yuan, don’t pay more than 4 yuan. When buying tickets for Huangguoshu Waterfall, don’t buy round-trip escalator tickets at first; just buy the one going up. The most recommended route is to walk down and take the escalator up. Buy the escalator ticket for the upward trip on-site, 30 yuan.

One day of extreme hiking at three locations in Anshun on 11.23: Tonggudang - Wanfengding - Lotus Cave Avoid the crowds and dive into a real-life combo of "alien planet + underground secret realm," so much fun you won’t want to leave. 🚗 Route plan: Anshun city center → Tonggudang (30-minute drive) → Wanfengding (30-minute drive) → Lotus Cave (1-hour drive) → return trip 🌠 First stop: Tonggudang "Mars surface roaming" Navigate directly to “Lonely Planet Tonggudang Camping Park” to unlock a whole exotic stone forest! The black limestone pillars look like giant beast fangs, paired with lush green meadows and karst lakes. Wear white or bright colors for drone shots from above. ⛰️ Second stop: Wanfengding, if the weather is good, enjoy a "360° peak forest sunset." It’s a 30-40 minute hike to the summit! A completely undeveloped viewing platform overlooking thousands of karst peaks, quieter and purer than Wanfenglin. Reach the top before 5 PM; the sunset dyes the mountains golden red. Every photo looks like an ink wash landscape painting. Remember to bring hiking poles; the trail is a bit steep. 🕳️ Third stop: My favorite, Lotus Cave, the "underground light secret realm." This free, undeveloped ancient cave is a huge surprise! Navigate to “Lotus Ancient Cave.” It’s essential to rent double rain boots at the entrance for 10 yuan (the cave floor is all soft mud, and you can easily sink to your ankles). Between 2-4 PM, sunlight streams through three skylights, with light beams piercing the darkness. The stalactites and stone curtains under the light look like an underground palace, giving off a suspense vibe straight out of "The Lost Tomb." Inside the cave, there are cliff inscriptions and an underground river. Bring a headlamp and go with companions, watch out for slippery floors, and the sense of adventure is off the charts! We hired a guide to take us around for the day.

Pingba Sakura Park: This is the largest cherry blossom bloom in China, with around 700,000 trees spread across a vast area. It is located between Anshun and Guiyang. I lived on the outskirts of Guiyang, and the taxi ride from my hotel to the park took 20 minutes. From the city center, the trip would take about an hour. Entry to the park is free. If you don't want to walk, you can rent a cart for an additional fee. Personally, I felt the park lacked beautiful pavilions, Chinese-style bridges, and a special atmosphere; it's just a lot of different trees and that's it. There is a lake in the middle of the park. It's definitely worth visiting once. In Guiyang itself, there are other beautiful parks, including ones with small waterfalls. I liked the city.

Guizhou's beautiful mountains and waters truly can't be hidden! This time, I took the kids to Niangniang Mountain in Liupanshui, directly unlocking a "stress-relieving" parent-child trip. With plateau wetlands and natural hot springs, we had two super enjoyable days～ 📍 Address: Niangniang Mountain Scenic Area, Panzhou, Liupanshui City, Guizhou Province It's a 1.5-hour drive from the city center, and the scenery along the way is incredibly beautiful. The kids kept shouting, "Look at the big mountains!" all the way～ ⛰️Itinerary Recommendation: DAY 1: 🚗Drive to Niangniang Mountain Plateau Wetland Park → Check in → Play with the kids for a while, then soak in the hot springs DAY 2: Take the kids for a walk by the river in the morning → Visit Qingyun Temple, explore Jiangyuan Cave → Tour Niangniang Mountain Scenic Area ✅Niangniang Mountain National Wetland Park is super famous! CCTV praised it as "China's most unique plateau peat moss wetland." If the season is right, you can also see Tianshan Waterfall and wetland azaleas. Taking the cable car with the kids to see the Ten Thousand Breast Peaks is incredibly stunning～ ✅Jiangyuan Cave is a must-visit! It's a rare water-filled karst cave in Guizhou, with an underground river and a glass skywalk inside. The kids' eyes lit up staring at the karst landscape. Guanyin Cave is also great for kids to experience the wonders of nature～ ✅Qingyun Temple is outside Jiangyuan Cave, nestled by mountains and water, super comfortable. Taking the kids for a stroll around is very peaceful～ 🏠Accommodation Guide: We chose "Zhensu·Shanyin Hot Spring Wild Luxury Resort Homestay," which is super close to the entrances of all attractions! The detached wooden cabins are surrounded by green mountains and clear waters. Open the window, and you're greeted by mountain views. The kids wake up every day and look out the window first～ The best part is the outdoor private hot spring, pure natural geothermal spring water. Soaking with the kids is super relaxing, and you can look up to see Niangniang Mountain. The continuous peaks look like a smiling face, and the kids even said, "The big mountains are watching us"～ ⛰️Tips: 1️⃣Liupanshui is known as the "Cool City," so bringing kids to Niangniang Mountain in the summer is great for escaping the heat. No need to worry about the kids getting too hot～ 2️⃣It's perfect for escaping the city with kids on weekends. Running and playing in the mountains is much more comfortable than staying indoors～ 3️⃣Definitely stay for one night! The homestay offers a hot pot dinner. Eating while enjoying the mountain scenery, the kids even ate an extra half bowl of rice～ 4️⃣On the second day, you can also explore the surrounding areas. Tiansheng Bridge and Liuchuhe Grand Canyon are both great places to take the kids～

Leaving Guiyang, we visited #anshun city of the #guizhou_china. The city was just a normal middle size city, however the Waterfall area rewarded us 100%!!! We visited #tianxingcave where we were impressed by the inner well preserved and perfectly upgraded by many colourful lights. We saw the biggest waterfall in Asia!!! Wow!! The place was extremely crowded but the feeling of being so close to the nature was incredible! At night we visited the city Center of Anshun where we tried very delicious local street food! 📍Address:Anshun Waterfall at #guizhou_china 🗓️Tip: Try to book early your entrance tickets for the waterfall. If the number of visitors exceeds the safety threshold then you will not be allowed to buy tickets for the full path but in any case you can enter to admire waterfalls and take pictures from some distance. #traveling

This time in Anshun, a friend recommended this Hilton hotel. Initially, I just wanted to give it a try, but the experience turned out to be amazing! As soon as I stepped into the lobby, I was struck by the grandeur and spaciousness of the area. The bright and comfortable atmosphere immediately made me feel relaxed. The front desk staff were very welcoming and even upgraded me to a high-floor lake view room for free. The view of the city from the 21st floor was absolutely stunning! The room was incredibly spacious, with modern and complete facilities. The children's play area on the first floor and the 24-hour fitness center were well-maintained. During my stay, there weren’t many people, so I could easily enjoy a peaceful and private time. The breakfast was full of surprises! The variety was so extensive that it was overwhelming, easily the most sumptuous breakfast I’ve ever had in any hotel.
