🇰🇿 Kazakhstan 7 Days 6 Nights 🏔️🐎
If you want a change of scenery from big cities, give Kazakhstan a chance. As the largest country in Central Asia, you'll discover a land full of snow-capped mountains, uniquely blue lakes, magnificent canyons, and cities that fascinatingly blend modernity with nomadic culture. A 7-day, 6-night trip is just perfect for experiencing nature, cities, cafes, and world-class landmarks at a relaxed pace.
⸻
✈️ Day 1 | Start in Almaty, the Country's Largest City
Upon arriving in Almaty, kick things off with a relaxing stroll through Panfilov Park, a lush green park in the heart of the city. Then, drop by Zenkov Cathedral, a bright yellow wooden cathedral built entirely without a single nail, which stands as one of the city's iconic symbols.
Next, head over to the Green Bazaar, a local market packed with dried fruits, nuts, cheese, honey, and traditional souvenirs. It's a great way to get an up-close look at the local Kazakh lifestyle.
In the evening, head up Kok Tobe Hill, a viewpoint offering panoramic views of the entire city of Almaty. It features restaurants, a small amusement park, and absolutely stunning sunsets.
⸻
🏔️ Day 2 | Big Almaty Lake & Tian Shan Mountains
Get your cameras ready today, because you're going to see one of the most beautiful lakes in the country: Big Almaty Lake.
Surrounded by the Tian Shan Mountains, this turquoise lake changes color depending on the season and the weather. On a clear day, the view looks straight out of a painting.
Along the way, you can stop at several viewpoints to breathe in the fresh air and snap photos throughout the route. This is definitely a highlight of Kazakhstan that you simply can't miss.
Head back to the city in the evening and check out Almaty's diverse cafe scene. Whether you prefer a European vibe or a minimalist aesthetic, the atmosphere is simply fantastic.
⸻
🌄 Day 3 | Charyn Canyon
Today, hit the road to Charyn Canyon, the Grand Canyon of Central Asia.
The red sandstone cliffs, sculpted by nature over millions of years, create a truly awe-inspiring landscape. As you walk along the Valley of Castles trail, you'll see rock formations resembling castles lining the path.
Although the air can be quite dry, the breathtaking views are totally worth the hike. Every angle is photogenic, no filter needed.
On the way, you can also stop by small villages and several other natural viewpoints.
⸻
🚤 Day 4 | Kolsai Lake & Kaindy Lake
Another day that nature lovers will absolutely adore.
Start at Kolsai Lake, a stunning alpine lake with water so clear it perfectly reflects the surrounding pine trees and mountains. You can stroll, row a boat, or ride a horse around the lake.
Then, continue your journey to Kaindy Lake, a lake globally famous for its submerged pine trees poking out of the water. This surreal sight was created by an earthquake over a century ago.
These two lakes are arguably some of the top highlights of Kazakhstan.
⸻
🚡 Day 5 | Shymbulak & Medeu
Head back to explore the area near Almaty.
Take a cable car up to Shymbulak Ski Resort, a mountain resort that's fantastic in any season—whether it's winter or summer. The views from the top are so spectacular you'll barely want to leave.
Afterward, stop by Medeu, one of the highest outdoor ice-skating rinks in the world. Surrounded by mountains, the atmosphere is incredibly refreshing.
If you have time, chill at a mountain cafe and enjoy a cup of coffee while taking in the stunning views of the Tian Shan Mountains.
⸻
🏙️ Day 6 | Astana, the Futuristic Capital
Catch a flight to Astana (currently officially known as Astana), a capital city packed with futuristic architecture.
Start at the Bayterek Tower, an observation tower that serves as the city's symbol. Then, take a walk around the Nur Alem Sphere, a giant spherical building from the Expo.
Next, visit the Hazrat Sultan Mosque, a massive white mosque that is both beautiful and incredibly peaceful.
In the evening, take a stroll along the Ishim River and admire the modern city lights that leave many surprised they are actually in Central Asia.
⸻
🛍️ Day 7 | Cafes, Souvenirs, and Departure
Take it easy on your final morning by café-hopping in either Astana or Almaty (depending on your flight).
Shop for some souvenirs, such as:
🥜 Nuts and dried fruits
🍯 Mountain honey
🧶 Woolen crafts
🐎 Horse-themed and nomadic culture souvenirs

Before heading back home, take with you memories of a country whose nature is far grander than most could ever imagine.
