#timetotravel My visit to the Acropolis of Athens was a pilgrimage into history and marvel. Perched above the city, this iconic site with its monumental ruins and timeless architecture was a humbling experience. Standing before the Parthenon, I could almost feel the echoes of ancient Athenian life. The Erechtheion's Caryatids exuded grace, while the Propylaea's grand entrance marked the gateway to antiquity. The sweeping views of Athens below were breathtaking, revealing a city that has evolved through the ages. The Acropolis' central location and its usually extended visiting hours allowed me to immerse myself in its stories both day and night. The Acropolis of Athens isn't just an archaeological site; it's a testament to human achievement, artistry, and the enduring legacy of ancient Greece.

Construction of the cathedral began on Christmas Day 1842 with the laying of the cornerstone by King Otto and Queen Amalia. Behind Metropolis is the church of Agios Eleftherios, known as the Little Metropolis. The seat of the Archbishop of Athens and leader of the Church of Greece. Designed by distingueshed architect Theophil Hansen, it combines the traditional byzantine cross-in-square with Hansen western sensibilities resulting in probably the most influential church design in Greece.

The sovlaki here is wonderful. Like the guy from the shop told us "welcome to the temple of Sovlaki". Bravo ！👏🏻👏🏼👏🏽 A simple place where you can eat only a few things. But as it is usually the case, these few things are great, if you get into the feeling. Try a few pieces of the traditional Greek pork souvlaki or some pieces of soutzoukakia in case you don't like pork. #foodie #greekfood #greek #greece

Magnificent Pantheon

The temple known as the Parthenon was built on the Acropolis of Athens between 447 and 438 B.CE. It was part of a vast building program masterminded by the Athenian statesman Perikles. Inside the temple stood a colossal statue representing Athena, patron goddess of the city. The statue, which no longer exists, was made of gold and ivory and was the work of the celebrated sculptor Pheidias. #panthéon #athens
