Canada 🍁 is great, but I won't go again because it's too grueling ✨
I just returned from an in-depth trip to Canada! Honestly, I'm speaking from the heart 😭
The mountains and rivers here are truly breathtaking; the Rockies, lakes, and Maple Road are all picture-perfect!
But the travel experience was truly exhausting, time-consuming, expensive, and incredibly troublesome. It's beautiful but not fun, once is enough!
✈️ Transportation tips 💨
The biggest challenge for traveling in Canada: vast land and sparse population, making travel extremely difficult!
International direct flights take a very long time, long-haul flights are super tiring, and jet lag is unbearable 😩
Inter-city distances are extremely far! Vancouver, Toronto, and Banff are thousands of kilometers apart. Inter-city flight tickets are expensive, and travel time is spent enduring the journey.
Zero public transportation freedom for city travel ❌
Bus services are extremely infrequent, with waits starting at over ten minutes. Remote scenic spots are mostly inaccessible by direct public transport.
✅ The only solution: you must drive!
However, mountain roads have many curves, mountainous areas often have no signal, gas stations are sparse, and roads are dark and deserted after nightfall, which is a direct deterrent for new drivers!
Without a car, you can't move an inch; driving keeps you tense the whole time, directly halving your travel happiness!
🏞️ Real experience of attractions 🌿
Objectively speaking! Canada's natural scenery is truly irreplaceable 🍃
The lakes in Banff National Park are crystal clear and blue, with snow-capped mountains reflecting on the surface, creating an ethereal scene; Maple Road is full of autumn vibes; Niagara Falls is magnificent and stunning, curing all visual fatigue.
Few crowds, pristine scenery, perfect ecological environment. Every photo is a blockbuster without filters, and the air quality is excellent.
But there are too many downsides to count!
Prices are ridiculously high 💸. Food, accommodation, and parking are all overpriced, and niche attractions have many hidden fees.
Mosquitoes are rampant in forest areas during summer, biting through clothes, making outdoor hiking a terrible experience; the weather is unpredictable, with sudden showers and strong winds at any time.
Distances between attractions are too far, with most of the day spent traveling, losing the relaxed feeling of a trip due to a "special forces" style rush.
Very low commercialization also means poor facilities, few supplies, and few rest areas, making the entire trip feel like making do.
🍁 Authentic Canadian cuisine 🤤
The online rumors about a food desert are true!
The overall taste is rather bland, heavy on oil and salt, suitable for a taste but not for eating much 😮💨
🦞 Canadian lobster: firm, sweet, and fresh meat, a must-eat main dish, with decent value for money.
🍖 Maple bacon: a local specialty, a unique sweet and savory taste, worth trying.
🥩 AAA-grade steak: firm and tender meat, rich aroma from charcoal grilling.
🥣 Poutine: fries with cheese curds and gravy, calorie-dense, easily gets greasy if you eat too much.
💡 Real experience: very few local food options! After exploring streets and alleys, I ended up relying on Chinese and Korean food to survive. It's really hard to eat like this for a long trip!
💡 Heartfelt travel tips 📝
1. You must drive the entire trip! Practice mountain roads in advance, download full offline maps, as no signal in mountainous areas is common.
2. Fill up the gas tank immediately when it's half full! Gas stations are extremely far apart on rural roads, don't gamble on remaining fuel.
3. For summer travel, prepare strong mosquito repellent, long-sleeved shirts and pants. Mosquitoes in forest areas are highly toxic and dense.
4. The temperature difference between day and night is huge, always carry a jacket. Bring an umbrella for unpredictable weather.
5. Book accommodation and parking in advance. Housing near scenic spots is tight, and parking fees are expensive.
6. When hiking in the wilderness, don't take unofficial paths. Follow park rules and pay attention to outdoor safety.
Undeniably, Canada boasts world-class beautiful mountains and rivers 🍁
Pristine lakes, majestic snow-capped mountains, and endless maple leaves are both healing and stunning.
But the extremely high costs, long travel times, inadequate facilities, and monotonous food are truly energy-draining!
It's suitable for experienced travelers who seek extreme scenery, have ample budget, and are good at driving.
For average tourists, a second visit is not recommended. Seeing the stunning scenery once is already fulfilling and leaves no regrets!
