Portuguese-style retro streetscapes, the Atlantic Ocean, and desolate deserts. As a design student, Angola’s "landscape where the city and nature intertwine" was incredibly stimulating. However, I want to give some real, honest advice to anyone planning a trip: "Avoid September and October at all costs." During this period, everything is awkward and halfway, causing the difficulty of travel to skyrocket. Why are September and October so lackluster? The reasons are simple. 1. The climate is just plain uncomfortable It’s the transition from the dry season to the rainy season, making it awkwardly hot and humid. The coastal areas of Luanda are incredibly sticky—you’ll feel gross just walking around. Conversely, the inland highland areas get freezing cold at night. Trying to regulate your body temperature is a losing battle. 2. Roads turn into mud pits, making travel impossible The charm of Angola lies in places like the Namibe Desert and the national parks, but when the rain starts during this time, unpaved roads turn into complete quagmires. The risk of your car getting stuck and failing to reach your destination is way too high, and tours themselves often get canceled. 3. It’s the least "photogenic" time of year You don't get the crisp, clear air of May–August, nor do you get the dynamic natural beauty of the peak rainy season. Even the famous Kalandula Falls are underwhelming during this time because the water volume is low. In desert areas, the wind is so strong you basically just go there to get blasted by sand. So, when should you go? The best time is "May to August (Dry Season)." It’s cool and overwhelmingly comfortable. This is the best time to stroll through Luanda’s old town or drive a 4WD through the Namibe Desert. From a design perspective, I highly recommend the "Palácio de Ferro (Iron Palace)" in Luanda. It’s a metal-structured building reminiscent of the conceptual beauty of the Eiffel Tower, and the details are fascinating. It looks amazing against the blue skies of the dry season. Another option is "November to February (Rainy Season)." Go during this time if you want to see the overwhelming water volume of Kalandula Falls and the explosion of green in the jungle. Travel is difficult, but hotel prices drop, so the cost-performance isn’t bad. Finally, a word on the food. Pretentious restaurants aimed at tourists are expensive and taste average, but the "Mufete (charcoal-grilled fish)" eaten at local beachside joints was genuinely delicious. The combination of the charcoal aroma and the served sweet grilled bananas is exquisite. Angola itself is a fascinating destination with a real sense of being off the beaten path. That’s exactly why you shouldn’t compromise on choosing the right time to visit.

Kissama National Park, located in Angola, is a natural reserve well worth visiting. It boasts magnificent wildlife and dense tropical rainforests, making it an ideal destination for nature-loving adventurers. The park is home to a diverse range of animals, including elephants, giraffes, and lions, making it perfect for wildlife photography. In addition to the wildlife, the lush vegetation, waterfalls, and rivers add to the park's natural charm. One of the most memorable experiences is exploring the park in an off-road vehicle, allowing for close-up encounters with the animals—a truly rare and exciting experience. Moreover, the guides here are highly professional, providing detailed explanations about the background of each plant and animal, making the entire journey both educational and enriching.

I recently visited the National Slave Museum in Angola, a place that left a profound impression on me. The museum's design is highly commemorative, showcasing the far-reaching impact of slavery on African history, culture, and people's lives. The exhibits include numerous historical artifacts, photographs, and descriptions, illustrating how the slave trade spread across Africa and other parts of the world, while revealing the immense suffering and struggles of those enslaved. What struck me the most were some of the slaves' personal items and handmade crafts, which reflect how they managed to preserve their cultural roots despite extreme hardships. The museum's guided explanations were also very detailed, providing me with a deeper understanding of this dark chapter in history.

Located near Angola's capital, Luanda, Miradouro da Lua, or "Moon Viewpoint," truly lives up to its name. The scenery here makes you feel as if you've stepped onto the surface of the moon. From the viewpoint, you can witness a stunning expanse of sand dunes, with uniquely shaped rocks and mountains resembling lunar terrain, offering a visually striking experience. The landscape here is not only breathtaking but also exudes a mysterious aura. Standing on the viewpoint, the vast scenery before you allows for a moment of mental clarity, letting you appreciate the grandeur and tranquility of nature. Especially during sunset, the entire area is bathed in an orange-red glow, providing a deeply relaxing and serene experience.

Luanda was founded in 1575 and became the administrative district and capital of the Portuguese colony in 1627. It was once a major port for European colonizers to trade slaves. After Angola gained independence in 1975, Luanda became the national capital. Figures 1-3, Luanda Slave Museum Museu da Escravatura de Luanda, renovated based on historical buildings related to the colonial period and the slave trade, with architectural styles blending Portuguese colonial elements and African regional characteristics. It is located in the city center of Luanda, Angola's capital, near Luanda Bay (which was an important port for the slave trade). The museum focuses on Angola's history as a major "source" of the Atlantic slave trade, displaying the complete chain from slave capture, transportation to sale, exposing the brutal exploitation during the colonial period. Figures 5-6, the craft market next to the Slave Museum Figures 7-18, Miradouro da Lua (Moon Valley) in Luanda, located about 30 kilometers west of Luanda city along the coast. Due to long-term wind and seawater erosion, it has formed a karst landscape resembling the surface of the moon (exposed rocks and ravines). The viewing platform is located at the edge of the highland, overlooking the entire "lunar landscape" and the distant Atlantic Ocean. Especially at sunset, the setting sun dyes the rocks warm orange, creating a strong visual contrast with the blue sea, making it a signature natural scenic spot in Luanda. Figure 19, Luanda Port

#January Good Places 2025 **Angolan War Museum (Museu da Escravatura)** Access: Located in Luanda, you can take a taxi or walk. Places to visit: It showcases Angola’s history of the slave trade and leads to reflections on the past. Feelings: The museum exhibits are heart-wrenching, but well worth learning about this history.

What to visit: This is a sandbar island with super beautiful sandy beaches and clear waters for swimming and sunbathing. Feelings: The island is serene, far away from the hustle and bustle of the city, it’s a vacation paradise.

Attractions: Luanda Bay is stunningly scenic, Msulu Island is full of tropical vibes, and Mount Kisara overlooks the city. Innisfree tea plantation is full of green and they serve famous green tea ice creams, drinks and cakes. Seoul city is always buzzing with food and night light. One of the most popular palaces ( 5 palaces) in Korea for the visitors for it preserves some western architectural features. Good for strolling leisurely or taking snapshots for the historic places.

I love skyscrapers and this was very a very cool experience for me. They also have a place where you can pay 80000 won to walk outside between the 2 peaks (hourly activity), but it was a cloudy day, so i didn't try it... hope that i can go back 1 day to try that.

I think I'm in love with this city, and I only just got here. Seoul is the capital of South Korea and proudly serves as the home of five UNESCO World Heritage sites. It’s a very old city. The site has been settled for thousands of years and has a rich history on display within its borders. Today, Seoul is an important hub in the region for IT and electronics assembly, but it still maintains a traditional vibe that appeals to travelers.
