Diplomat Hotel was previously known as the Dominical Hill and Retreat House which was established in 1915, built by Dominican friars in 1913 - 1915. It was later on turned into a school - Colegio Del Santissimo Rosario and retreat house for the friars during the World War II. In 1945, during the Japanese occupation, used by Japanese as their fortress and was bombed by the American soldiers on the same year and as history dictated, Japanese committed suicide after their defeat In the 1970's, the building was reconstructed and turned into Diplomat Hotel. Unfortunately, the building ceased operations and was abandone after the owner has died. The building ruin was later on transferred to Baguio in 2005. Diplomat Hotel has become famous for haunted stories due to its tragic past and history which why it has become a popular destination for tourists. The place itself is open but the building was restricted for tourist. You may still see the place from the outside of its historical old walls. Just be careful in taking photos, you may capture those unseen by the naked eyes. Kidding, though. The place has good vibes ands since tourists flock the place, where the bright sun lightens the whole place, there is no eerie feeling at all. #falladventures #travel #familytravel We visited on December 28. We reserved online on December 27 and got our confirmation on the same day. We planned on having an early start, but since we were with 2 kids ages 7 & 9 y/o, we arrived quite late and started our trek at 9 am. Because it was the kids' first climb, we did not even reach the first peak. It was fine because our goal was just to get the kid to try trekking and have fun doing it. I think we achieved that goal, with lots of long stops along the way. For a climber like me, the trek was easy throughout. A 2 or 3-hour trek to the summit might have been doable. It was one of the coolest and most relaxing climbs for me, with a really amazing view. I'd love to come back without kids next time and be at the summit in time for the sunrise. What to wear (particularly when visiting with kids): Comfy shoes with socks (preferably with good traction) Tights Shirt (we use Dri-Fit) Jacket Bonnet and gloves What to bring (particularly when visiting with kids): Walking stick (can be bought at the registration area) Trail food/snacks Water Lunch (sandwiches or whatever you prefer) Rain gear (depending on the weather) Cover/malong (in case you need pee along the way) Rates (Dec 2022): Guide for 7 pax and below Php600 Parking Php100 Adult fee Php200/adult Kid fee (7&9yo) Php20/kid Wooden walking stick Php100 Take nothing but pictures...Leave nothing but footprints...Kill nothing but time. According to many, there are other elements within the structure. There is nothing unusual about my visit there. In fact, the view from the outside is amazing. Feel free to explore the nature park behind the abandoned hotel. The view, trees, and air are pleasant and very relaxing. Shooting with nature is extraordinary Old Diplomat Hotel Baguio City is famous for its haunted stories and is a historical landmark that is a must visit when you're around Baguio. This place has a colorful history and a tragic story. You can still picture the beauty of this place despite of its current condition. When you go to its second floor, there's a creepy vibes. Imagine, as you walk in the ruins there is a cold breeze of air and suddenly at one point, it turned so hot. So yeah, maybe the stories are true.
