I just returned from Big Perhentian Island, and the 3 days and 2 nights experience was simply amazing—this small island located about 21 kilometers off the coast of Terengganu is not over-commercialized, yet it boasts jelly-like seas and powdery fine beaches comparable to the Maldives. The best part is, prices are super low, there are few people, the scenery is beautiful, and most visitors are from Europe and America. It’s truly a place where you can get close to nature! 🌊 Why Pulau Perhentian? — Pristine is the greatest luxury Compared to popular islands like Redang Island and Langkawi, Pulau Perhentian is less well-known. But precisely because of this, it has preserved its most original charm—monkeys are everywhere on the hills, and snorkeling near the shore reveals vast coral reefs and clownfish. Many people stay here for half a month or even a month, bringing a few books and a tablet, spending most of their time lying on the resort’s outdoor lounge chairs or on the beach reading. There are no cars on the island; transportation relies entirely on water taxis and walking. This slow pace is a kind of healing for those of us caught up in the fast rhythm of city life. 🏝️ Big island or small island? — Choose right for double the experience Pulau Perhentian is divided into Big Perhentian Island (Perhentian Besar) and Small Perhentian Island (Perhentian Kecil). It's a beautiful place with few people, mostly Western tourists, where you can truly connect with nature! 🌳 🚗 Here's a travel guide! 1️⃣ From Kuala Lumpur, fly directly to Sultan Mahmud Airport in Kuala Terengganu, which takes only 1 hour! ✈️ There's also a closer airport—Kota Bharu Airport, but we wanted to drive along the coast, so we chose Kuala Terengganu. A self-driving guide will be available later, so stay tuned! 🚗 2️⃣ After landing, take a Grab to Kuala Besut Jetty, which takes about 1.5 hours! 🚕 3️⃣ Buy a ticket at the jetty and take a boat to Perhentian Island. Dataran Pantai Pachakan is located at Teluk Bayu ,Besut Terengganu .The beach with the white sand and Cleanliness is rated at 4/5. The beach is definetely is good for family activities. Dataran Pantai Pachakan is newly open after the refurbishment process and the beach is suitable for little kids since the shallow part of the beach is wide open which allow people to swim at the beach. The view of the beach is spectacular and beautiful.A great beach with a great view of the islands and blue sky. It was fun to take pictures and enjoy the amazing waves. A nice place to unwind and visit when you are stressed. If you want to overnight here you can rent the Layaran Chalet which is located near the beach. The facilities there is completed with the cafe and it also has the playground and swimming pool for kids to play as well. If you feeling hungry, here also has the stall called ‘Celup Tepung Meja Bersila’ where you can make an order here.They serve a varieties of fried seafood menu. Pantai Air Tawar is located at Kampung Raja, Kuala Besut ,Terengganu. It's so fun and entertaining with the crowds since we visited during weekends. It is good for our mind relaxation and get rid all of stress of work. There are so many people especially during weekends. Pantai Air Tawar is a very beautifull fine sandy beach and the view of the island located nearby is so amazing. There are a few restaurants which served local delicacies and as well as hawkers stall selling varieties of food. Had a wonderful time at the 5 star hotel on the island at the reasonable price. Love everything about this place and the island. Stayed here just a week before the monsoon, so the price dropped more than a half. However, the view of the island is still magnificent. It rained during the sleeping time, but during the day the sky is so bright.
