From Lions to Landscapes: My Safari Surprise in Birmingham
A day I’ll never forget—visiting the incredible West Midlands Safari Park just outside Birmingham! Right from the start, the safari drive was jaw-dropping: we cruised past a tower of giraffes grazing beside our car, and couldn’t tear our eyes away from the pride of lions lounging majestically in the midday sun. The park’s layout is fantastic—wide, winding roads offering up-close views of animals behaving naturally (but safely).
One of my favourite moments was feeding time: watching the mischievous meerkats pop up and scurry about was pure joy—right next to adorable lemurs leaping through branches overhead.
Pro tip: arrive early to beat the crowds and head straight to the tigers—they were active and playful when we got there. Also, don’t skip the sea lion show in the afternoon—it’s entertaining for all ages and really well put together.
The park is clean, well-maintained, and the staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. Whether you’re travelling with family or exploring solo, this place is a hidden gem for wildlife lovers.

A Must-Visit Near Worcester! Your Ultimate Guide to West Midland Safari Park
📍West Midlands Safari Park
📍Location: West Midlands Safari Park, DY12 1LF
🕒Duration: 6 hours (including the theme park)
💰Cost: £28/adult (Save 20% with early bird tickets on the official website❗️)
🚗Transportation: 40 mins by car from Birmingham / 10 mins by taxi from Kidderminster Station
💥My Experience: Kissed by a giraffe through the car window! Robbed of animal feed by an alpaca! Cuddled a newborn elephant! This safari park completely captivated me…
1️⃣Safari Drive-Through|An Immersive African Savannah Experience🚙
The drive-through route spans 4.6 miles. A car with a sunroof is recommended! As we drove our convertible MINI into the predator enclosure, a pride of lions 🦁 suddenly appeared around the corner, strolling leisurely by our car. The adrenaline rush was incredible! Remember to buy the £3.5 feed bag; alpacas and sika deer will stick their heads right into your car windows to grab food (the passenger seat is the most vulnerable to being "robbed"😂).
Must-See Big Three: All members of the "Big Five" are here! From the comical sight of a 🦏 white rhino wallowing in the mud, to the fleeting blur of a 🐆 cheetah sprinting, and the awe-inspiring gape of a 🦛 hippopotamus…my phone storage was instantly full!
📸Hidden Photo Spot: The camel family near the exit of the Asian zone. Shooting against the light at sunset creates a cinematic feel!
2️⃣Walking Zone|Up Close and Personal with Wildlife🚶♀️
Highly recommend the white tiger nursery! The white tiger cubs born in September are learning to walk, and their adorable paws are heart-melting even through the glass🐯(Keeper talks are available daily at 11:00/14:30)!
Mysterious Fun Fact: This park houses the only vampire bat tunnel 🦇 in the UK. Experience the thrill of wings brushing past your head in the darkness! Not for the faint of heart!
🍔Food Tip: The animal-themed waffles at the Giraffe Restaurant are super Instagrammable. Remember to add £1 to exchange for a biodegradable feed scoop to feed the emus outside the window!
3️⃣Theme Park|Adrenaline Rush🎢
The newly popular Wild River Rapids rollercoaster is a must-try! Plunging from a height of 26 meters while encountering a herd of zebras strolling by is a truly magical experience💦(Rain ponchos are £2, but be warned, even in the back row, you'll still get wet).
Family Fun: The Halloween-limited Pumpkin Thief Chase is here! Solve puzzles to win limited-edition marshmallows, and encounter surprise NPC interactions along the way🎃(Event runs until November 5th!)!
⚠️Important Reminders:
① Enter the park before 10:00 am! The animals are less interactive after they've eaten in the afternoon.
② Do not get out of your car in the drive-through area! There have been incidents of lions snatching off wing mirrors.
③ Hidden Gem: The animal adoption certificates at the exit are a great souvenir. For £35, you can revisit your adopted animal for free anytime🐨.
Afterword:
✨The world may be broken, but there are always little animals mending it. Come and share a healing time with these amazing creatures!

Safari in England?!?!?! Loved it
Had the most wholesome day driving in and around the safari park. Coming from South Africa we are often warned to cautious of many of these animals as they are wild and therefore can’t get close. Here they seem tamed and relaxed. Wonderful experience for both kids and adults.

🇬🇧[UK] A hotel where you can sleep with giraffes
#Overseas parent-child travel
It is highly recommended to stay in the park for one night to visit West Midland Safari Park, the animal room type view is really amazing! Both adults and children will be very happy.
This time I stayed in the giraffe room type.
The view really surprised me
Price is £840 (for 4 people).
Although it seems a bit expensive
But actually this price also includes two days of Safari admission, Theme Park, breakfast, dinner, and VIP experience.
And the view was worth the price of admission for us! !
It has a variety of animal room types to choose from, including tiger, lion, elephants, red panda .... there must be one for you 😎
As a reminder, it is basically very full.
I book in June, 🦒 giraffe period as soon as October ~
And when I saw July, August basically did not have any room type available 🤣 tiger lion is completely not seen to choose so!
