Belgium’s medieval masterpiece
#timetotravel #bruges #trip Bruges is easily accessible from Brussels and is small enough to see in a weekend but enchanting enough to linger in. Add in traditional restaurants serving Belgian beer, a handful of museums and tempting chocolate shops and it’s clear why the city has a special appeal. If you set out to design a fairy-tale medieval town, it would be hard to improve on Bruges, one of Europe's best preserved cities. Picturesque cobbled lanes and dreamy canals link photogenic market squares lined with soaring towers, historical churches and lane after lane of old whitewashed almshouses.

Belgium HISTORIC City Bruges
Bruges is a charming city in Belgium, known for its picturesque canals, stunning architecture, and delicious chocolate. Admire the medieval buildings that line the cobblestone streets! The Flemish architecture of the city is interesting, with the stairs-like triangle on top of a building!
The main square, Markt, is a hub of activity, with cafes, restaurants, and street performers. The Gothic-style Belfry tower offers stunning views of the city, while the nearby Church of Our Lady houses a beautiful sculpture by Michelangelo.
You can also take a boat tour along the canals, sample Belgian chocolates 🍫 In my opinion, the best city im Belgium. #bruges

Bruges and the beach 🇧🇪
Bruges is one of the famous destination in Belgium and this place is as known as another Venice of Belgium! In here, the city is surrounded by the river and the historical buildings. The view in here is spectacular and you can see the reflection with the building and the river.
Moreover, Belfry tower is one of the highest building in Bruges and you can easily see it from far away from the Bruges station.
The sunset is beautiful in Oostende beach and listening to the sea wave is the best way to close the journey.

Basilica of the Holy Blood
A stunning piece of European culture, beauty, and history. Be sure to visit both the ground level and the first floor; they are both interesting and impressive in their own distinctive and different ways. In the church on the first floor, you can see a vial holding a piece of cloth with the blood of Jesus Christ on it. Free to visit the church, small fee to visit the treasure room. I didn’t do the latter so I can’t comment on that part.

Brugge. It’s like stepping back in time.
When planning a trip to Belgium, getting beyond historic Brussels is a good idea, if time allows.
Even people who know very little about visiting Belgium can probably tell you that this city near the North Sea coast is reported to be one of the most charming places in Europe. Like the pastel-hued half-timbered houses of Colmar, France, and the picturesque walled city of Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Germany, Bruges is accurately known as a place that looks like it was pulled from the pages of a fairy tale.
While there are lots of fun things to do in Bruges, the city itself is the main attraction. There’s just so much to see.

Beautiful Bruges - Belgium
Belgium chocolate - sounds familiar? That's where I first know about this city. I began to research what's the place offer. As expected, it's a beautiful city.
Being reminded of Scotland where there's castle, museum, and many beautiful place. It was sunny and sun shine brightly.
Walking around the city to capture this beautiful moment. Although it may be very tiring to walk around because the area is too huge to explore by legs, but the beauty around covers my tiredness. You should visit and explore Belgium especially Bruges.

Bruges | Brilliant small luxury hotel in Belgium
Hotel De Orangerie
📍Kartuizerinnenstraat 10, 8000 Bruges, Belgium
Unlike Brussels and Antwerp, hotels in Bruges tend to be smaller and more refined. The city, beloved by tourists, has been significantly impacted by the pandemic. On our last night here, my friend and I had the entire hotel to ourselves; it was quiet and serene throughout.
The hotel’s color scheme exudes elegance. The choice of sofas and artwork in the lobby, along with the cozy fireplace on the first floor, makes it an ideal spot for a peaceful afternoon tea.
The hotel provides Hermès toiletries, and the deep green walls add a subtle, comforting vibe. With all the essential amenities, it’s a perfect choice for a relaxing vacation stay.

Bruges - 1 DAY Itinerary ✨⭐ ✨
#voyagevibes
We were visiting family in Brussels and decided one of the days to go on a day trip to Bruges.
One day is enough to see plenty. We weren't very lucky as the weather was funny. One minute it was raining, the next was sunny. We weren't sure what to make of it. Therefore if you are going to Belgium in September, be prepared for unexpected rain!
We walked around town exploring without a set goal in mind.
We saw Belfry of Bruges (very beautiful building)#myhiddengems , the church called Church of Our Lady, another church called Basilica of the Holy Blood, and lots of shops with Belgium chocolates. 😋
I recommend the trip only if you have not much to do and wonder where else you could go. It is a cute city to walk around and get 🍫 chocolates from.

Majestic Moments: Discovering the Splendor of Sint-Salvatorskathedraal in Bruges!
#churches
Sint-Salvatorskathedraal, or St. Salvator's Cathedral, is a stunning architectural gem located in the heart of Bruges, Belgium. With its rich history and striking features, this cathedral is a must-visit for anyone exploring the city.
#Architecture
The first thing that captures your attention is the impressive facade, which showcases a blend of Romanesque and Gothic styles. The towering spire rises majestically above the surrounding buildings, making it a prominent landmark. Inside, the cathedral is equally breathtaking, with high vaulted ceilings, intricate stained glass windows, and beautifully carved altars.
# Interior Highlights
One of the highlights of my visit was the remarkable collection of art within the cathedral. The altarpiece, featuring works from renowned Flemish artists, is a sight to behold. The tranquility of the interior, combined with the soft light filtering through the stained glass, creates a serene atmosphere perfect for reflection.
# Historical Significance
Sint-Salvatorskathedraal has a rich history dating back to the 10th century, making it one of the oldest churches in Bruges. Its historical significance adds depth to the experience, as you can sense the centuries of worship and community that have taken place within its walls.
Visiting Sint-Salvatorskathedraal was a highlight of my trip to Bruges. The stunning architecture, artistic treasures, and peaceful ambiance make it a perfect spot for both sightseeing and contemplation. Whether you’re a history buff, an art lover, or simply seeking a moment of tranquility, this cathedral is not to be missed!

This particular scenic view had appeared in “In Bruges” where this is one of the purposes people are visiting this place.
There are also bright white swan swim around the lake where this really shocked both of us! It is just like a dream come true!
I would recommend to spare one full day just to visit Brudges itself and not rush to finish all the spots!

The windmills of Bruges 🇧🇪
#weekendgetaways
The windmills of Bruges are a captivating part of the city’s rich history and scenic beauty. Situated along the Kruisvest, these windmills date back to the late 13th century when they were constructed on the city ramparts. Originally, Bruges boasted 25 windmills, but today only four remain: Sint-Janshuismolen, Bonne Chiere, Nieuwe Papegaai, and Coelweymolen.
Each windmill has its own unique story and charm. Sint-Janshuismolen, built in 1770, is particularly notable as it stands in its original position and operates as a museum, allowing visitors to explore its interior and learn about its historical significance. Bonne Chiere, constructed in 1844, was moved to its current location in 1911 and is a testament to the city’s dedication to preserving its heritage.

The garden of a fairytale 🇧🇪
#weekendgetaways
The Meulenaere Hospice, also known as Hospice St. Joseph, is a serene and historic site located in the heart of Bruges. Established in 1613 by J. De Meulenaere, this hospice was originally created to provide shelter and care for poor widows. The complex features a tranquil garden surrounded by a small group of houses, offering a peaceful retreat from the bustling city.
Visitors to the Meulenaere Hospice can enjoy the quiet ambiance and picturesque setting, which feels like stepping into a scene from a children’s book. The central garden, with its simple hedges and a few chairs, invites relaxation and contemplation.
This hidden gem offers a unique glimpse into the charitable history of Bruges and is well worth a visit.

The beguinages of Bruges 🇧🇪
#weekendgetaways
The beguinages of Flanders are a unique and fascinating aspect of the region's cultural heritage. These architectural complexes were established in the 13th century to house beguines, lay religious women who lived in community without taking formal vows. Unlike nuns, beguines led a pious life while maintaining a degree of independence, which was quite progressive for their time.
Flanders is home to 13 beguinages, recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. These beguinages typically consist of charming houses, churches, and communal buildings arranged around a central courtyard. The layout and architecture reflect the Flemish cultural style, blending both urban and rural elements.
The beguinages served as safe havens for women, providing them with a supportive community and the opportunity to engage in various crafts and trades. This allowed them to sustain themselves economically while dedicating their lives to spiritual pursuits.
