A three-hour bus ride from Vienna brought us to the beautiful European city of Budapest. 🇭🇺 After arriving, we explored the Pest district by taking a leisurely stroll. 🚶♀️ First, we visited St. Stephen’s Basilica, a landmark of Budapest. Just got back from Budapest, and this place is literally the "standard answer" for Europe. The Danube River, like a blue ribbon, divides the city in two. MARIAMATER DEI Take the elevator-escalator-elevator route all the way up without climbing. However, the apple foie gras mash at Comme Chez Soi is truly worth a try! 🍎 Apple Mash with Foie Gras The foie gras is seared to perfection—crispy on the outside, tender and melt-in-your-mouth on the inside. Paired with apple slices and creamy mashed potatoes, the sweet and tangy apple perfectly balances the richness of the foie gras. This combination is surprisingly harmonious! Definitely a must-order dish in Budapest.✨ 🍝 Seafood Pasta The portion is huge! Enough for 3-4 people to share. Generous servings of seafood like mussels, prawns, and squid rings. The cooking style leans more towards Chinese stir-fried pasta, and their chili powder adds an extra kick—absolutely delicious. 🐌 French Escargot A rather ordinary dish. If there are other options, you might want to skip this one. Overall, this restaurant caters more to Chinese palates. Most of the diners on the day we visited were Chinese. The foie gras is outstanding, while the other dishes are decent but not exceptional. Service is top-notch! They even offer complimentary dessert wine and sorbet after the meal. Luckily, the weather in Budapest cleared up those few days, and I immediately booked a 7 PM cruise on KKday. This time slot is hailed online as the "golden hour"—not only can you capture the stunning sunset over the Danube, but you can also witness the magnificent Parliament Building being illuminated. Since it was a dream come true, I opted for the most luxurious option: live music and a buffet dinner. The two-hour cruise was destined to be a romantic and spectacular floating feast! Welcome drinks, aisle seats, just a hair's breadth away from the window seats. Knowing the "first come, first served" seating rule, we arrived at the boarding gate early. However, after receiving our welcome drinks, we were still assigned aisle seats, only one or two groups away from our dream window seats—a slight disappointment 🥲. However, as the ship slowly started moving, the disappointment vanished instantly. Inside the cabin, a sumptuous buffet dinner was immediately available, featuring 12 dishes of decent taste, setting a warm tone for the journey. The Parliament House Lights Up: This is the true face of Budapest. The cruise ship sailed from the orange-red of sunset into the deep night 🌌. For two hours, the Danube became our best viewpoint! We rediscovered Buda and Pest from different perspectives: the gleaming Parliament Building, the shimmering Margaret Bridge, the exquisite Matthias Church, and the Buda Castle and Fisherman's Bastion perched atop the hills. 🌟 My tip: Visit these sites on foot during the day, then enjoy them from the river at night for a completely different experience. This contrasting feeling will definitely make your memories of Budapest more profound and multifaceted. After dinner and a performance, I couldn't wait to head to the deck and enjoy the refreshing river breeze.
