Did you know that Lisbon has its own Christ the King statue?
It turns out it does!
The Cristo Rei statue (which means "Christ the King" in Portuguese) is located on the banks of the Tagus River, near the 25th of April Bridge (which closely resembles the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco) in the Almada district.
The best view of this bridge is from the observation deck of Cristo Rei, wouldn't you agree?
When you look at it from the opposite bank, it seems small, but as you get closer, it’s enormous! The pedestal alone is 82 meters tall!
From afar, take a look—I’ve attached a photo in the fog.
We reached Cristo Rei by taxi, but the most popular and convenient route is by ferry across the river to Cacilhas and then by bus number 3001.
On the way back, we walked from the statue to the ferry terminal, which took about 40 minutes at a leisurely pace. Don’t rush to board the ferry—there’s a fantastic museum in the port featuring an old military ship.
Now, about the Cristo Rei statue.
The statue has a total height of 110 meters, with 82 meters for the pedestal and 28 meters for the statue itself. The observation deck is located at the top of the pedestal, offering stunning views!
More numbers: the height of the head is 4 meters, and the arm span from fingertip to fingertip is 28 meters. For comparison, the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro is only 10 meters taller (it’s 38 meters).
Access to the observation deck is paid and cash-only—8 euros for adults. Most of the ascent is by elevator, but there’s a short staircase to climb as well.
There’s usually a queue, but it moves fairly quickly—we waited no more than 20 minutes. At the top, there’s a small chapel and a souvenir shop.
The observation deck is fenced with a grid, presumably to prevent visitors from falling, so keep in mind that photo opportunities might be limited.
A bit of history:
The statue was built between 1949 and 1959 and inaugurated on May 17, 1959.
Its construction was approved as a plea to God to save Portugal from being drawn into World War II. Interestingly, it was funded through public donations, primarily from women.
Portugal did not participate in World War II, so women donated money for the Christ statue as a gesture of gratitude for saving their sons, husbands, and fathers from the war.

A village on the edge
The beautiful village of Garajau on the island of Madeira may feel like its only a short walk away to the ocean but the closer you get to the Atlantic the more you realise the problem.
The village in fact sits hundreds of meters above perched on a cliff, there is of course the option of walking both up and down to the coastline but for those who don’t want that intense exercise you can always take the cable car down. #celebrateit #cliff #ocean #madeira

A village on the edge
Madeira is an island with an abundance of beautiful coastal villages but Garajau may be the most stunning of them all. Located on a cliff top above the Atlantic Ocean, the village is famous for its Cristo Rei statue that overlooks the water and can be viewed as a mini version of the Christ the redeemer statue that overlooks Rio.
The walk towards the statue leaves you with stunning coastal views all the way along to the capital Funchal #celebrateit #madeira #statue #cliffs

Visit here to learn about the history of Azulejo and visit the most beautiful and beautiful Baroque church in Lisbon.
.
due to The tile museum was formerly a Manueline-style (Manuel Gothic) monastery, so you can still see the abbey, cloister and fountain in the museum, with a little bit of the shadow of Andaluca, Spain.

It is really suitable for friends who like history. Because very few people can rarely take good-looking photos, it is estimated that no girl will resist this~~~
Clothing matching suggestions: You can choose a positive red jacket like a bag, especially suitable for this Islamic style building. The entire shade of the city of Lisbon is dark and dark, and the red color can bring a good contrast and it is easy to produce.
