Spanish Mediterranean Coast Tour ~ Castellón (Region) Visiting the Castle of Segob was an incredible experience! The place is very well preserved and offers a wonderful panoramic view of the city and the area. The history of the castle is fascinating and this visit provides an excellent opportunity to learn about Segorbe's medieval history. The best part is that Segob Castle is free to enter and is open from 10:00 to 22:00, which makes the visit even more enjoyable. I recommend it to anyone who loves history and architecture! There is a very nice view from the castle entrance and you can sit on the benches and enjoy the view. It is recommended to download the Segorbe tourist app to see a guide to the castle and town. Spanish Mediterranean Coast Tour ~ Castellón (Region) The village of Segobe is situated on a fertile plain washed by the Palancia River. Its medieval layout hides some architectural gems, such as the cathedral and the remains of ancient city walls. The remains of a medieval castle on the nearby hill of La Estrella recall Segorbe’s palatial origins. Named after the abundant springs found in the area, Plaza Agua Limpia is the town's nerve centre. There is the Town Hall, built in the 16th century and formerly the palace of the Dukes of Medinaceli. The Cathedral of Santa Maria was built in Gothic style and was later rebuilt in Neoclassical style. Its interior contains seven chapels and a beautiful cloister, a valuable manuscript preserved in the archives, and a series of paintings in the chapel. Several churches stand out in the medieval layout of the city: the Church of San Pedro, the Church of San Martín, the Church of San Joaquín and the Church of Santa Ana. Due to its past defense, the village still preserves the round tower of Bottessi and the tower of the prison, which were once part of the ancient walls, together with the Veronica Arch. Finally, we can end our tour of the city by visiting the Cathedral Museum, the Archaeological Museum and the Ethnological Museum. The local festival celebrations in Segorbe, which has been declared a tourist attraction, take place at the end of August and include a busy program full of cultural, religious and entertainment activities. #February2025 #SpainTravel #Valencia
