Chania Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Balos Lagoon Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Balos Logoon ! Top spots in Crete!
Balos lagoon is one of the best destinations to visit in Crete, it’s located in Kissamoss, near Chania Airport, Crete (40 min driving) .
Kissamoss port provides a ferry cruise ticket package which starts at 10:30 am bringing you to this beautiful and transparent lagoon for 2 hours visit, after brings you to another two hours to Gramvousa beach, where you can see a Castle and also the Dimitros old wreck ship, and bring you back to Kissamoss port around 5pm.
I think it’s one of the best destination for a day tour in Crete, and Kissamoss will also offer many choices of traditional Greek restaurants for dinner after the tour.
The beaches are very clean and rich of life!
Getting There - Ferry from Kissamoss 10:30 am only
Attractions - lagoon, beaches, landscape and sea
don't miss this tourist attraction
Getting There - 7 km walk (rockyroad+feels like your hiking)

breathtaking view😍❤️❣️
It is like a roller coaster trip before you arrive on this lovely view. You need to walk almost 7 km but it is like you do hiking due to Rocky road and a bit dangerous steps.
Botanical Park & Gardens Of Crete. Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Discovering Cretan Wines: An Unforgettable Wine Tasting Tour of Botanical Gardens
We were so fortunate to find the most amazing private tour while we were visiting Crete! We wanted to do a wine tasting tour of Cretan wines and found @cretewineescapes to take care of us.
Marie (Head of Relations and Wine Guide) picked us up at our hotel and with our driver, took us to the Botanical Gardens. Now this wasn’t your typical botanical garden, as it was on the side of the mountain. We walked through the massive area and saw the hundreds of different species of trees, flowers, fruit, herbs, etc.
From there, Marie set us up with a beautiful lunch at the main building, complete with local wines. Coming from a wine making family in France, Marie explained everything about the process that went into this particular wine and even gave us a wine tasting education (I still learn every time).
Following our traditional Greek lunch, we then went to a family run local winery to do a full blown wine tasting. I’ll cover that in a future post.
I personally want to thank @cretewineescapes for the fantastic experience and ensuring we had the best day while visiting.
Botanical Paradise in Crete: Explore the Colorful Gardens and Wildlife at the Botanical Park
The Botanical Park & Gardens of Crete was one of the highlights during our stay on the island.
Situated in nearly 20 hectares of land in the foothills of the White Mountains, the park boasts hundreds of different fruit trees, flowers, herbs, animals, and more!
In the midst of this colorful and vivid landscape stands a burnt centennial olive tree, a memorial and a reference to the dismal fires of 2003, the park’s history and origin.
The lush landscape is completed by the lake in the lower part of the part, offering accommodation and protection to ducks, geese and other water birds (and rare species), even to hawks that fly in the area. The park also has an open-air, stone atmospheric amphitheatre suitable for small (capacity for approximately 250 persons) events.
Botatical park & Gardens - Crete Island
One of the main, in my opinion, attractions of the island of Crete, which for some reason the guides almost never talk about, is the botanical garden. It is located in the region of Chania, on the 18th kilometer of the road Chania - Omalos on the mountainside.
The garden is large - about 20 hectares, spread out on a mountainside in a place that was previously destroyed by fire. There are many types of plants in the garden, below there is a lake, a farm with donkeys and peacocks. The most pleasant thing is a walk along the paths of the garden - first you go down to the lake, then climb back - along the slopes of the hill along a winding path on the sides of which various types of plants are planted. Orange and lemon trees grow everywhere, there are many birds. At the end of the hike, you can have lunch in a restaurant with a beautiful view. The store sells excellent herbs collected in the garden, better than anywhere else.

Samaria Gorge Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
White Mountains’ National Park is the only national park in Crete. It centres around the Samariá gorge, at an altitude of 1,200m and continues down to Ayia Rouméli, on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea. Along with the surrounding slopes and a number of smaller gorges branching off from it, Samaria Gorge forms the whole of the area designated as a national park, a status that offers protection to over 450 species of plant and animal, 70 of which are endemic to Crete. In the prefecture of Chania (also written “Hania”), the Samaria gorge is the longest in Europe (total length 16km), and one of the most impressive gorges in Greece. It starts from Xylóskalo, at an altitude of 1,230m. The width of the gorge is 150m at its widest point and 3m at its narrowest.
Samaria gorge
A word of advice: Visitors can descend into the gorge and walk for about 6 to 8 hours. Even though the path runs downhill it requires strong, comfortable footwear and some degree of physical fitness. But it’s well worth the effort. At the end of the path, swimming, taverna lunches and picnics under a canopy of trees within full view of the Mediterranean Sea all await you.

Where to stay when you're in Meili
From the majestic peaks of the Meili Snow Mountain to the fascinating local heritages, this is a special place where you can truly live in the moment 😌🙌
Beautifully restored from an ancient Tibetan house, Sunyata Hotel is located 3.600 meters above sea level and surrounded by a century-old village. The hotel has taken on the challenge of integrating traditional Tibetan architecture with Japanese wabi-sabi philosophy.

Samaria Gorge - Crete Island, Greece
This spectacular 18 km gorge is located within the Samaria National Park and is a UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List. The canyon starts from Xyloskalo near the mountain village of Omalos and descends 1250 meters down to the seaside village of Agia Roumeli. The Tarraios River flows through the gorge, which dries up almost completely in summer, but becomes quite full-flowing in winter.
The rocky path that runs along the gorge is quite winding and is unlikely to be suitable for people in poor physical shape. On the busiest days, up to 3,000 people pass through the gorge. The walk can take four to six hours depending on your form. The gorge is open to visitors from May to mid-October.

Falassarna Beach Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Falassarna beach Crete 🏖️
#beachvacation
Falassarna Beach in Crete, Greece, is an absolute gem that stole my heart. Nestled on the island's western coast, this beach is a stunning combination of natural beauty and tranquility.
As I approached the shore, I was greeted by the soft, golden sand and crystal-clear, azure waters. The beach's wide expanse allows for plenty of space to relax without feeling crowded.
What truly sets Falassarna apart is its breathtaking sunsets. Watching the sun dip below the horizon, casting hues of orange and pink across the sky, was a surreal experience.
The beach's laid-back atmosphere and nearby beach bars make it an ideal spot to unwind. Falassarna Beach is a hidden paradise in Crete, and it's a must-visit destination for anyone seeking natural beauty and serenity in the Mediterranean. #ukcreator #greece #crete
