After exploring the "bold" mountain city and artsy district in Chile, our next stop is to "cross the Andes Mountains" and fly from Santiago to El Calafate (FTE), Argentina! 🇦🇷🏔️ 💡 Trip.com Booking Tips: Want to make your trip twice as efficient? The secret is to book your flight and the first night's accommodation in the small town on Trip.com in advance 🏨! Especially when visiting these remote South American towns, having someone to pick you up or knowing where you're headed in advance really puts your mind at ease and makes everything go smoothly! 🙌✨ Our flight departed from SCL to FTE at 2:55 PM local time ☕, taking about two and a half hours. After landing, we found that FTE airport is really small. We searched around but couldn't find a currency exchange (Casa de Cambio). ❌ Additionally, it's quite difficult to call an Uber. Don't waste time standing at the entrance scrolling on your phone. After landing, it's best to directly look for an official airport taxi (Remis) or Shuttle Bus. If you're traveling with a group of friends, getting a taxi into town is the most cost-effective option.

I took the cable car 🚡 up to Cerro San Cristóbal. The first thing that struck me was the stunning snow-white Virgin Mary statue (Virgen de la Inmaculada Concepción) guarding the entire city! 🗽 Beneath the statue, there is a beautifully crafted open-air chapel. From the terrace next to the chapel, you can overlook the entire Santiago city center, and even see the distant Andes snow-capped mountains 🏔️ clearly.

Then you must visit Cerro San Cristóbal! 🏔️ We chose to go up by cable car and come down by funicular, experiencing two completely different visual thrills in one trip. It was definitely the highlight of our journey! 🔝✨ ⬆️ Going up: Cable Car (Teleférico) for a smooth ride 🚠 Starting point: Oasis Station (near Pedro de Valdivia Station). The cable car is modern and very stable. The best part is gliding through the air while enjoying views of South America's tallest building, Sky Costanera, alongside the majestic Andes Mountains 🏔️❄️. The feeling of weaving between skyscrapers is incredible, and the photos are absolutely stunning! 📸 ⬇️ Coming down: Funicular for a thrilling descent 🎢 Starting point: At the mountain top, switch to the over 100-year-old funicular to return to Pío Nono Station. Experience: This funicular is a national monument! The wooden carriages travel down a steep track all the way to the base of the mountain.🤣

☕️🙏 When traveling, always remember to "stay alert and be aware of your surroundings"! ✈️🌍 The weather in Valparaíso that day was absolutely amazing ☀️. The blue skies and white clouds perfectly complemented the colorful hillside city, making for stunning photos! 📸🌈 After enjoying some specialty coffee and recharging at WIP Coffee ☕️, a group of us girls decided to walk towards Plaza Sotomayor for some sightseeing. We even ambitiously planned to continue on to the National Maritime Museum (Museo Marítimo Nacional)... 🚢⚓️ ⚠️ A close call! A "life-saving warning" from a store owner 🚨 We hadn't walked far from Plaza Sotomayor when we were about to continue uphill. Suddenly, a store owner rushed out to stop us! 👮♂️🗣️ ⚠️⛔️ With a serious expression, the owner warned us: "It's very dangerous ahead! You girls must not go any further!" 🚫🙅♀️ Safety tips (Save these for your safety! 📌) 1️⃣ Listen to the locals: If a store owner, restaurant staff, or even a passerby goes out of their way to warn you about danger, take their advice seriously! This trip was such a wonderful surprise! You get to see the desert, Martian landscapes, salt flats, geysers, and starry skies all in one go✨ We stayed in the town of San Pedro for three days and booked five classic tours (in Spanish + English), all with the same company called Layana Travel. Before each tour, the guide creates a WhatsApp group to coordinate details and hotel pickups. Usually, the return drop-off is on the main street. 💡 For this company, we paid 50% upfront and the rest before the first tour. No discounts for card or online payments, but paying in cash (Chilean pesos) or local card transfers gets you a 10% discount. A 4-day, 3-night journey through the W Trek in Patagonia, walking my own path. --- ✨ Travel Highlights Travel Period: Early October (right at the start of the trekking season, with a peaceful atmosphere) Trekking Route: W Trek, 4 days and 3 nights, averaging 20km per day Highlights: The grandeur of nature in the land of winds, Patagonia Special pastel-like clouds painted across the sky The solitude of camping and trekking through snowy mountains Finale: Witnessing a majestic sunrise at the Torres del Paine viewpoint at dawn --- 🚶♂️ Travelogue In early October, Patagonia had just opened its trekking season, and the trails were almost empty. The three of us barely spoke, walking at our own pace except at the campsites. That solitude, as if walking alone, strangely filled my heart. Snow-covered mountains stretched out in all directions, but the low altitude meant snow-covered paths were rare. Strong winds whipped up sprays over the lakes, and the sky was adorned with soft, pastel-like clouds. One of those cloud photos even won an award in a meteorological photo contest for its uniqueness. --- After reaching the Italiano campsite, we climbed to a midpoint without our gear. To make matters worse, I had an upset stomach and had to detour to a hotel restroom. The ferry ride offered breathtaking views of Patagonia's majestic landscapes, a moving experience in itself. First Trek: 11 km (one way), gentle slopes, approximately 3–4 hours.
