The Inubosaki lighthouse is overwhelmingly famous in the area, but the beauty and presence of this small lighthouse standing on the coast of a small cape where the waves are crashing is overwhelming. On the almost untouched beach, there are only the work tools of the fishermen and telephone poles. They look amazing in any season, regardless of the weather or time of day. Recommended for those who want to spend some time alone! When traveling by car, you must also consider securing a parking spot.

It is located 7-8 minutes walk from Kannon Station on the Choshi Electric Railway. It has a splendid five-storied pagoda, and I feel that it is a temple that is the heart of Choshi town. You can also enter the main hall and pray while you are ordering the goshuin. The Choshi Electric Railway runs once an hour during the day, so I think it would be a good idea to take your time to visit the shrine and then board the next train.

Even the mailbox in Inubosaki is pure white, so it's all white! From the lighthouse you can see the Pacific Ocean, and I was reminded of how vast the ocean is. Choshi City, Chiba Prefecture. When I visited Choshi, I stopped by Choshi Ichiyama Ikesu for lunch. It was around 1pm on a weekday, but there were more people there than I expected. The restaurant has a large number of seats, and there's plenty of space between them, so I was able to relax and enjoy my meal. Some seats offer a view of the ocean, which was a nice perk of being able to enjoy the scenery while I dine. This time I had a sashimi platter, beer, and a fish tempura bowl, and the fish was all fresh and delicious. There was also a large fish tank inside the restaurant. This is a great place to enjoy fresh seafood and the scenery in between sightseeing in Choshi. Climbing the 99 spiral stairs might sound tiring (it really will leave you breathless 💦), but trust me, the view from the top is absolutely worth it! Standing on the observation deck at the top, with a completely unobstructed 360-degree panorama, the Pacific Ocean horizon appears in a perfect "arc." The sheer awe will make you truly feel that "the Earth really is round!" Moreover, this lighthouse is constructed from 190,000 bricks and is an Important Cultural Property of Japan; the white brick walls are incredibly textured up close. 📸 Must-See Highlights: 1. The temple enshrines the deity Hokushin Myoken Daibosatsu, known as the guardian of the East Sea and a bringer of good fortune. One must-see attraction at Myofukuji Temple is the 'Wisteria of the Lying Dragon.' This wisteria, believed to be 750 years old, was transplanted from Kyoto's Imperial Palace to the temple during its construction, utilizing Choshi's advanced water transportation system. Every May, the wisteria blooms, creating a six-foot-long canopy resembling the shape of a dragon, hence its name. The 'Wisteria of the Lying Dragon' is a purple wisteria. When I visited in late April, about 50% of the flowers had bloomed, with roughly 1/2 to 1/3 of the clusters still in bud form. Full bloom is expected around late April or early May. Besides the Lying Dragon wisteria, the temple also has another smaller wisteria trellis, which was about 80-90% in bloom during my visit, with almost no gaps between the flowers and leaves. Unexpectedly, I also discovered a white wisteria trellis! The white wisteria clusters are shorter in length but visually appear fuller and more lush, creating a dreamy effect. Under sunlight, the white flowers almost seem overexposed. In addition to the wisteria, the temple grounds feature scattered azaleas and other flowers, as well as beautiful floral water basins. Myofukuji Temple offers wisteria-themed goshuincho (temple stamp books), seasonal wisteria goshuin (temple stamps), and wisteria-themed omamori (charms), making it a delightful place for shopping.

5 days 4 nights Japan trip Starting the first day after landing at Narita Airport, the next station is ‘Choshi’ The first restaurant we went to is called ’Hitachi Fish Dish.’ The Japanese person who took us there recommended it because it’s quite popular, mostly visited in the evening. But even so, the food served was very fresh and delicious. Each of us got a set like this, absolutely amazing 👍🏻 Next, we went to ‘Yamasa Soy Sauce Factory visitor.’ We tried ice cream made from the factory’s soy sauce. The taste was super good, kind of like salted caramel ice cream. We also tried cola made from the sauce, which was great to drink with the sparkling drink served alongside—just perfect. On the second day, after traveling to Tokyo 🚅 We went around Ito Yokado near Kiba, where there’s a big 7-Eleven. After walking around the mall, before getting on the train, we stopped to buy hot matcha latte at Tully’s Coffee to recharge. Being in Japan, how can you miss this? In the evening, we went straight to eat fresh sashimi at ‘Kaiten Sushi Misaki.’ The taste was great, I give it 3 thumbs up. It felt like eating omakase for sure. The next day, we ate sushi again, but this time we tried a famous sushi chain that’s trending in Thailand now, called ‘Sushiro.’ I want to say the taste was amazing, even better because there was no need to queue here. In the evening, a Japanese friend invited us to eat sukiyaki together. Usually, we only see beef or pork sukiyaki, right? But here, no. It was ‘duck sukiyaki.’ Such a surprise, never tried it before. They said it’s a local dish from Nara city. The duck was very fresh with no gamey smell. The appetizers were great too. The best part was this meal was filling and budget-friendly 😂 The next day was time for our last day of exploring on our own 🫠 Today was like walking around, shopping for souvenirs, and eating!!! The first place we went to was Asakusa. The street food along the way was so abundant. I highly recommend the green tea shop in Asakusa—it’s amazing, with a strong roasted bean aroma. Next, we headed to Shibuya!! Time to find lunch. We decided to queue at ‘Roast Beef Ono’ after hesitating because the line was very long. The restaurant is underground, down the stairs. But I must say, meat lovers must not miss this place. The set we ate was A5 Wagyu beef, size M, priced around 2,200 yen, excluding drinks. The price was reasonable, but the taste was the best. We were full until dinner. After that, we walked around Shibuya for a while and stopped to eat dorayaki at a famous shop whose name I can’t remember, but the line was very long. We ended the dinner with yakiniku!!! Of course, coming to Japan without eating yakiniku is a no-no. For dinner, we went to ‘Gyu-Kaku’ near Shinjuku. The food was really good. It’s a buffet style with prices to choose from according to your budget. We went for the cheapest set, which was about 900 baht in Thai currency, but totally worth it. If you go to Japan, I hope you get to try the restaurants I recommended. I guarantee you won’t be disappointed 🫶🏻

The shogunate in the Edo period built a lighthouse here. The current lighthouse was designed by the British and was completed and lit in 1874, the seventh year of the Meiji era. It has been guarding this sea area ever since. The light of the lighthouse is said to be visible from 19.5 nautical miles away. Inubosaki Lighthouse was selected as one of the top 100 lighthouses in the world and is a historical lighthouse that represents Japan. To walk from Kimigahama Shiosai Park to the lighthouse, you have to climb a flight of stairs to reach the cape where the lighthouse is located. From a distance you can see the white lighthouse standing on the dark cape. Although the lighthouse has been standing for 150 years, its appearance is well maintained and does not look old at all. It looks very beautiful in photos against the blue sky behind. You can visit the exhibition hall and climb to the top of the lighthouse by buying a 300 yen ticket. The information exhibition hall introduces the history of the lighthouse, and you can also see the huge lens used in the lighthouse up close. To get to the top of the lighthouse, you have to climb 99 steps, but once you get there you can see the entire coastline. The only slight problem was that the wind was so strong on the windward side that I couldn't open my eyes, making it difficult to take pictures. The produce shop next door sells coffee and light meals, and you can also buy some local specialties such as fruits, vegetables, and seafood. If you want to see the sea and relax, this is a great spot to spend an afternoon leisurely.

Visit Time: Late April 2025 After exiting Kujigahama Station, follow Google Maps to navigate through quiet countryside roads. In about 7 minutes, you'll be greeted by the stunning coastline. Previously, I saw recommendations for photographing the Inubosaki Lighthouse from Kujigahama Shiosai Park, and after visiting, I can confirm it's a great spot! The expansive ocean connects seamlessly with the prominent cape, where the pristine white lighthouse stands. On sunny days, sitting by the seaside, enjoying the sea breeze and the sound of waves, is incredibly relaxing. For slow travelers, this is a spot that invites you to pause and unwind. The paths in Shiosai Park are easy to walk, and if you want to get closer to the water, there’s a gentle sandy beach area with stairs leading down to the shore. However, April might still be a bit chilly—I only saw one person collecting seaweed on the beach. From Shiosai Park, it’s about a 10-minute leisurely walk to Inubosaki Lighthouse. You’ll need to climb a set of stairs to reach the cape where the lighthouse is located, but the stairs are not steep and are quite manageable. Note that there are no food vendors in the park, so it’s best to eat beforehand or dine at the souvenir center near the lighthouse. The seaside can be windy, making it feel colder, but sunny days can still be quite warm due to the lack of shade. Be sure to dress warmly while also taking precautions against sun exposure.

Iinuma-san Enpuku-ji Temple, Iinuma Kannon, with its beautiful vermilion-lacquered pillars] This is a temple where you can get some exercise while touring the fish market and restaurants serving fish dishes from Kannon Station. You can also take the Choshi Electric Railway from Kannon Station or the fish restaurant and head to the sunset over Inubosaki. If you go all the way to Inubosaki and it's cloudy, touring this Shingon Buddhist temple and seeing the magnificent five-story pagoda and the vermilion-lacquered main hall may refresh your mind and give you energy.
