Then we headed south to Mirissa, a beach town that’s sooo good for living your best tropical life, surfing, and even whale watching. Colombo had us feeling city glam—with buzzing markets, cool museums, and foodie stops. We visited Maradha Colombo twice, initially in July and then again in August, and both occasions were absolutely wonderful. Having traveled throughout the country for three weeks, this stood out as the top hotel we stayed at in Sri Lanka. Our room was immaculate, ample in space, and incredibly cozy. The star attraction for us was the stunning sea view—truly breathtaking and so soothing, it felt like complete paradise! The cuisine was exceptional and authentic, rich in local flavors, crafted without artificial additives or chemicals. It all tasted fresh and wholesome, and most importantly, it never bothered our stomachs at all (which is uncommon during travels!). The service was equally remarkable, making us feel welcomed and thoroughly attended to. If you're heading to Colombo, search no further. Special forces itinerary is back on! Five days and four nights, just enough to explore Yala and the southern region, the central region is not yet covered. ✈️: Arrive at Colombo Airport, now visa-free for Chinese travelers, just need to show passport and itinerary at customs! No need to fill in entry information online. 💰: There are ATMs at the luggage exit, each transaction charges a 17 RMB fee, and you can buy SIM cards nearby. 🚗: Distances between cities in Sri Lanka are quite far, chartering a car is the most convenient! About 500 RMB per day including all costs (about 350 RMB per day if not going to Yala or if the charter time is long). Tips for the driver are paid separately. Here is the charter route: Day 1⃣️: Colombo - Yala 📍Tissa Lake 📍Yala Park: It takes 4 hours to drive from Colombo to Yala, so we chose the afternoon Safari. You can choose a 6-person shared jeep or a private charter, 500 RMB/person including pick-up, drop-off, and entrance fee. The experience is much better, you can take photos and play as you like! Although it can’t replace Africa, the scenery is quite good and we saw many wild animals. Day 2⃣️: Yala - Mirissa (coconut groves, seaside photography, shopping, SPA) Day 3⃣️: Mirissa - Galle 📍Whale watching: 350 RMB/person, including pick-up and snacks. Be sure to take seasickness medicine. 📍Stilt fishermen: Check in at the Lonely Planet spot favored by Wu Lei, 1000 LKR/person. Bargain hard! Off-season 500 LKR. 📍Galle Fort: Lighthouse, old town, clock tower, sea, sunset 🌄 very beautiful and relaxing place. Day 4⃣️: Galle - Colombo 📍Seaside train: 🚂 Only took the highlight section for 10 minutes, the experience was very bad! Super crowded, like a subway, very hard to take photos. 📍Museum: Personally not very recommended. 📍Red Mosque, city walk.

Enjoyed a fantastic weekend stay at The Marino Beach Hotel with my family! We were warmly greeted upon arrival， and to our surprise， I was upgraded to a suite. The room was spacious， complete with a separate sitting area， jacuzzi， balcony， steam bath， rooftop garden， and terrace with an infinity pool and hot tub overlooking the sea—great spots for photos. Everything was immaculate， and the amenities were well-considered. The food was outstanding， offering a wide variety and several live cooking stations. Nearly all the staff were friendly and helpful. Overall， it was an amazing experience that went beyond our expectations. Highly recommend!
