Conwy Castle at sunset, the harbour at golden hour, and the realisation that leaving gaps in your itinerary is always the right call. Day 0 Night — Betws-y-Coed Based at the Glan Aber Hotel — a classic Welsh country house in the quietest village in Snowdonia. The kind of place that makes you put your phone down. Day 1 — Zip World + Caernarfon Morning at Zip World Betws-y-Coed: 700m of gravity-powered alpine coaster through ancient pine forest. Three runs. By the third, properly grinning. Then west to Caernarfon — dropped my bags at Tegfan Townhouse, walked straight back out for the sunset. Stayed until the castle lit up gold after dark. Both were worth it. Day 2 — Snowdon First bus from Caernarfon to Pen-y-Pass. Pyg Track up. Both hands, both feet, wind, snow, scrambling. Looked up above Glaslyn and genuinely thought it might end badly.
