I had a free Saturday between two work trips. I decided I needed to see something other than Amsterdam. 38 minutes and 13 euros later, I was in a small, cozy city. I booked a hotel right across from The Social Hub - Delft train station. I also booked it on trip.com. The hotel is very modern, has a good view of the city, a comfortable large bed in the lobby, and plenty of space for work, rest, and eating. Self-service check-in is convenient, as you can't access the living area without your room key. In the evening, the city is magical. It's like stepping into a fairy tale: the canals, the houses, the lanterns glow. Everything can be explored on foot. The restaurants and cafes are fully booked, and on Saturday and Sunday evenings, breakfast and lunch are available (they are weekends, after all). Therefore, it's advisable to make a reservation in advance or stand in line outside (I was offered this in the morning, but I decided against it because of the rain). On Sunday morning, I went to the porcelain factory. Tickets cost 17.50. It's a 20-minute walk from the hotel, and I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. There's an audio guide showing the factory and the large porcelain collection. The factory has a cafe and a shop, so it's hard to leave empty-handed. It's a wonderful little town where they carefully preserve their heritage and add technology.
