Yima Mountain Forest Park ⛰️ No Crowds During National Day
#chinaadventures
A perfect escape from the crowds. Yima Mountain is neither high nor steep—it’s even somewhat unmanaged.
Admission is free 🎫, and you can drive all the way to the mountaintop, as long as you ensure no open fires (forest fire prevention is a must).
The mountain is covered with dense pine forests, and the ground is carpeted with thick layers of pine needles.
At the foot of the mountain, there’s a small lake (no swimming allowed), so you can park nearby and take a stroll through the woods.
Beside the mountain, there’s also a small Lingyin Temple with lively incense offerings. The temple has a cow-patterned cat that loves to act cute around visitors 😺.
I heard there are paragliding activities 🪂 here, though I didn’t see any this time.
On the way, we passed by the Hulan River Estuary Wetland, where we saw hundreds of geese 🦢, small flocks of sheep 🐑, wetlands, and fishing ponds 🎣.
It felt like the whole mountain ⛰️ belonged to just me
✨Travel Tips & Notes:
· Best Time to Visit: Autumn (especially during weekdays or outside major holidays) for cooler weather and beautiful pine-covered trails.
· What to Bring: Water, snacks, comfortable walking shoes, insect repellent, and a trash bag (carry out what you bring in).
· Driving Info: The road to the top is accessible by ordinary cars, but drive carefully as the path may be narrow or uneven.
· Safety Notes: No swimming in the lake. Strictly no fires or smoking in the forest area.
· Nearby Detour: If time allows, stop by Hulan River Estuary Wetland for bird-watching and peaceful views.
· Temple Visit: Be respectful when visiting Lingyin Temple. Donations are optional.
· Pets: Dogs are allowed but must be kept on a leash.
· Photo Tip: Early morning or late afternoon light works best for forest and wetland photography.

Definitely save this for next year—a must-visit!
Attractions: Yima Mountain National Forest Park 🏞 and Lingyin Temple ⛩, both located in Bayan County.
Drive time: During the National Day holiday, it took about 2 hours by car from Harbin. The area was not crowded, making the trip very relaxed (though there were lots of bugs during early October—avoid going when they’re rampant 😅).
Recommended Route:
1⃣️ On the way there:
Take Binshui Avenue → Haluo Highway. The scenery is beautiful, with many roadside stalls selling grilled goose eggs 🥚—stop and try where parking is allowed. After passing the Hulan River Estuary Bridge, the autumn views are stunning 🍂.
2⃣️ Sightseeing:
Yima Mountain’s forest is full of acorns 🌰—great for collecting with kids.
Lingyin Temple had no visible entrance fee—just walk in. The temple is photogenic 📸. Camping is allowed on the mountain ⛺️, but no open flames.
3⃣️ Note: no public restrooms
You’ll also see wetlands with wild ducks 🦆 and maybe even flocks of white geese 🦢. In late autumn, golden wheat fields line the road 🌾.
Preparation tips:
⚠️ Avoid visiting around National Day—bugs are overwhelming.
