These are the colors of Cusco's mountains! 😍 In 2015, when the snow melted due to global warming, Vinicunca was exposed to the world. I went to Peru for the sole purpose of hiking to Machu Picchu. I prepared for it, climbing a minimum of 70 flights of stairs 3x a week, 3 months before my trip. The altitude made it the hardest hike I've ever done, and only at 2.7k+ meters high. At 5k+ meters in altitude, I got worried about going to Vinicunca mountain. But one morning, I met a wonderful couple while eating breakfast at my hotel and they urged me not to miss it. I was so undecided that I booked the tour at 8pm the night before, with 4am pick up the next day! I didn't hike up this time, only going down. Took the motorbike up which was scary with lots of twists and turns. But it was so worth it since I reached the top quickly. Rainbow mountain, as it was popularly called, was amazing! The colors were unbelievable and looked unreal! I was so glad I went! When deciding to go, I asked myself when will I get another chance to come back here to do this? So I guess when in doubt, do! 😆 But here's a better tip: take the bike up, it'll save you the time and energy. I got to the top in about 15min and the sky was blue and sun was out.
