I’d love to share an incredible spot in Da Lat, Vietnam—Linh Phuoc Pagoda. Known as the "Glass Temple" or "Bottle Pagoda," this Buddhist complex is breathtakingly decorated with millions of glass shards, ceramics, and porcelain. 😌 Construction started in 1949 and wrapped up in 1952. It began as a modest wooden structure, but in 1990, Abbot Thich Tam Vi initiated a massive renovation, transforming the temple into a monumental mosaic masterpiece. Local residents contributed by bringing broken dishes and bottles, and master artisans from Hue—famed for their ceramic mosaic skills—were brought in to handle the work. Today, the pagoda is more than just a religious site; it’s a true work of art. Mosaics cover every inch: walls, columns, roofs, statues, and even the fences. The intricate patterns depict Buddhist symbols like lotuses, dragons, and phoenixes, along with scenes from Vietnamese history and folklore. 🌸 Highlights to look out for: ❗️ The 49-meter Dragon: One of the most striking features, its "scales" are made from approximately 12,000 beer bottles. The dragon forms a grand entrance to the complex. ❗️ Linh Thap Bell Tower: This seven-story, 37-meter tower is one of the tallest in Vietnam. It houses a massive 8.5-ton bell. Only have one day in Da Lat? 🌲 You can still combine some of its best nature, a little adventure and the city center without making the day feel too rushed. Here’s the route I’d choose for a first visit: ☕ 08:00 — Breakfast & coffee in Da Lat Start early with breakfast and Vietnamese coffee in the city center. Da Lat mornings are usually cool and fresh, so this is one city where I genuinely enjoy getting out early. 🎢 09:00 — Datanla Waterfall & Alpine Coaster Head to Datanla for one of Da Lat’s most fun experiences: the alpine coaster through the pine forest. There are different coaster routes, so check which option you want before buying your ticket. If the coaster itself is a highlight for you, I’d choose the longer experience rather than visiting only for the waterfall. Allow around 2–3 hours for Datanla. 💧 12:00 — Tuyen Lam Lake From Datanla, continue towards Tuyen Lam Lake. This is the Da Lat I came for: pine-covered hills, water and a much quieter atmosphere than the city center. Stop for the views, take a walk and have lunch or coffee somewhere around the lake. 🦙 14:00 — Countryside & animal farm Spend the early afternoon exploring more of the countryside. There are several farms and attractions around Da Lat where you can see alpacas, dogs and other animals. I’d combine one of these with the lake rather than making a separate journey from the city. 🏙️ 16:30 — Back to Da Lat city center Return to central Da Lat and slow the pace down. Walk around Xuan Huong Lake, explore the streets around the center and stop for another coffee if you have time. 🌅 18:00 — Evening around the lake Da Lat becomes especially atmospheric as it gets cooler and the city lights come on. Take a walk around the center before heading to the market. 🌙 19:00 — Da Lat Night Market Finish your day at Da Lat Night Market. Try some street food, browse the stalls and enjoy the much busier side of the city after spending most of the day surrounded by nature. 🚗 Getting around For this itinerary, a scooter gives you the most flexibility because several stops are outside the city center. If you don’t want to ride, use Grab/taxis and plan the countryside stops together to avoid unnecessary backtracking. 💡 My biggest tip: Start with Datanla early and save central Da Lat for late afternoon and evening. The nature outside the city is a huge part of what makes Da Lat special, so I wouldn’t spend your only day entirely in the center. It's a giant, surreal hotel and museum with not a single right angle. It’s called "crazy" for a reason—its design might just make your head spin. The Vietnamese architect was inspired by Gaudi's masterpieces and Russian folk tales. 🏔️ Linh Phuoc Pagoda - a unique Buddhist complex, world-famous for being almost completely covered in intricate mosaics made from broken glass and ceramics. The courtyard features a 49-meter winding dragon with a body and tail crafted from 12,000 empty beer bottles. 🏔️ Datanla Waterfall and Alpine Coaster. This is a beautiful park home to a picturesque 20-40 meter waterfall. The main attraction is the alpine coaster, where visitors can manually control their speed as they ride down through the forest to the base of the falls. 🏔️ Gods Valley. A scenic and mystical attraction built in the style of Hobbits and Game of Thrones, located 20 km from Dalat. The park feels like a portal to another world or a fantasy movie set. You can see almost real-life Hobbits here 😄 🏔️ The Florest Dalat - or Hoa Trong Rung - is Dalat's largest floral eco-park, spanning over 60 hectares. It features massive fields of diverse flowers. The hydrangea fields absolutely stole my heart ♥️ 🏔️ Em Ta Nung - an artisan coffee farm. Dalat has plenty of coffee farms and even entire factories. I loved this one for its cozy, intimate vibe—there were hardly any tourists. You can enjoy a peaceful walk and see how coffee trees grow. Plus, you can buy all kinds of coffee in their shop. 🏔️ Dalat Mushroom Village - a mushroom farm. A highly unusual and fascinating spot to visit and see how beneficial mushrooms are grown. It’s best to book an English-guided tour in advance. 🏔️ Puppy Farm. Around Dalat, there are many similar parks with dry tubing slides, which is a popular local pastime. This specific one also has a petting zoo where you can feed and pet a capybara. Dapa Hill is another similar spot, just without the zoo. 🏔️ Langbiang Mountain - the highest peak in the Dalat region. The observation deck offers cafes, souvenir shops, photo zones, horse rentals, and a flower garden. 🏔️ Clay Tunnel - a popular open-air sculpture park stretching over 1.2 km along the scenic Tuyen Lam Lake. The park is filled with massive clay and concrete art installations. 🏔️ Truc Lam Zen Monastery and Cable Car. Truc Lam is one of Vietnam's largest and most stunning Buddhist monasteries, situated 1,500 meters above sea level on Phung Hoang Mountain and surrounded by pine forests. Planning a trip to Da Lat and wondering when to visit? Because of its higher altitude, Da Lat feels very different from Vietnam’s beach destinations. Expect cooler mornings and evenings, mountain scenery, cafés, gardens and waterfalls — but the experience can change quite a lot depending on the season. We visited in March, and the weather was almost perfect for exploring. 🍃 ☀️ December – March: Best Overall This would be my first choice for a trip to Da Lat. These months are generally part of the drier season, making them especially good for: 🥾 outdoor activities 💦 waterfalls 🌸 gardens and flower spots ☕ café hopping 🛵 exploring outside the city 📸 clearer mountain views When we visited in March, we had sunny days, cool mornings and evenings, and comfortable temperatures during the day. It was warm enough to explore comfortably but still had that cool mountain atmosphere Da Lat is known for. 🌤️ April – May: Warmer & Changing Temperatures start to rise and rain becomes more common as Da Lat moves toward the wetter part of the year. You can still have plenty of beautiful weather, but I’d keep outdoor plans a little more flexible. This can be a good compromise if you want fewer cool mornings but still want to explore the countryside. 🌧️ June – September: Green but Rainier This is the wetter period. The big advantage is the scenery: the countryside becomes incredibly lush and green. The downside is more frequent rain, particularly later in the day, which can affect hiking, viewpoints and scooter trips. I’d still visit during these months, but I wouldn’t build a very strict outdoor itinerary. 🌦️ October – November: Transition Season Rain gradually starts decreasing as Da Lat moves back toward the dry season. Weather can still be unpredictable, but conditions generally begin improving toward the end of this period. 🏆 So, when should you visit? ☀️ Best overall: December – March 🥾 Best for outdoor exploring: January – March 🌿 Best for lush green landscapes: June – September 🌧️ Expect more rain: May – October 💡 My Tip No matter when you visit, bring layers. Construction began in 1990, and the complex itself took about 20 years to complete. 🏡 There are practically no traditional straight lines here. You can not only stroll here, but also spend the night in an unusual themed room. We came here for the famous "sea of clouds." To catch it, it's best to arrive at dawn—around 5:30 to 6:00 AM. But with a little one in tow, that plan didn't quite work out, and we didn't get here until 8:00 AM 😅 The clouds were mostly gone, but we were rewarded with stunning views of the tea plantations, green rolling hills, and the mountains of Da Lat. Even without the clouds, it’s truly gorgeous and atmospheric here. For the first time in my life, I actually saw how coffee grows. ☁️ What we loved: 🔸 Panoramic views of the valley and tea plantations 🔸 Beautiful photo spots 🔸 An on-site cafe with drinks 🔸 Fresh air and a very peaceful vibe 🔸 A great spot to just sit back with a coffee and take in the scenery 📍 Cloud View Glamping, Cầu Đất 🚗 About 25 km from downtown Da Lat, roughly a 40–50 minute drive 🎫 Admission is 100,000 VND per person, which acts as a deposit for drinks. ☁️ Our tip: If you really want to see the sea of clouds, get here at dawn. But even if you miss it like we did, the place is still absolutely worth the trip for the views alone.

Da Lat has a strange reputation. Some travelers absolutely love it. Others arrive expecting a quiet mountain town and discover crowded attractions, traffic, cafés everywhere and tourist spots that feel very different from the pictures. So… what’s actually worth your time? Let’s break it down. 🚂 Da Lat Railway Station — WORTH IT Even if you’re not a train enthusiast, the historic station is worth seeing for its architecture and atmosphere. Combine it with the train to Trại Mát and it becomes a much better experience. ⛪ Linh Phước Pagoda — WORTH IT This one genuinely deserves the attention. The mosaic-covered architecture is unusual, detailed and difficult to appreciate from a single photo. ☕ Famous Instagram cafés — DEPENDS Some are beautiful. Others are basically photo sets with a coffee attached. Before going, ask yourself: Would I still want to visit if I couldn’t take a photo? If the answer is no, skip it. 🌸 Flower gardens — DEPENDS They can be beautiful, especially if you’re interested in Da Lat’s agricultural identity. But don’t expect every flower garden to be a magical hidden valley. 🌲 Pine forests — DEFINITELY WORTH IT This is one of the things that makes Da Lat feel different from other Vietnamese cities. The landscape is part of the experience. 🏡 Old villas and residential neighborhoods — VERY UNDERRATED Instead of spending the whole day at attractions, walk through quieter areas and look at Da Lat’s old French-influenced architecture and gardens. 🌿 Trại Mát countryside — WORTH IT If you want to see a less polished side of Da Lat, go here. Greenhouses, farms, mountain roads and everyday local life make it feel completely different from the center. 🌧️ Visiting during rainy weather — ACTUALLY WORTH IT Rain can make sightseeing harder, but it also creates one of Da Lat’s best moods: misty hills, wet streets, warm cafés and cool air. 🚗 Trying to see everything in one day — NOT WORTH IT This is probably the biggest trap. Da Lat’s attractions are spread around the hills, and constantly moving from one place to another can turn a relaxing trip into a transportation marathon. 💡 My rule for Da Lat: If something gives you a better understanding of the landscape, history, food or everyday life, prioritize it. If the main attraction is simply a giant photo opportunity, think twice. Da Lat is worth visiting. Honestly, Da Lat was one of the biggest surprises of our Vietnam trip. We originally planned to stay for just 3 days, but ended up staying 5 — and still didn’t see everything. 😅 Da Lat feels like a completely different side of Vietnam. It’s a small, dreamy mountain city surrounded by pine forests, flowers, lakes, and hills. The weather is cooler, and the whole city has this slow, cozy atmosphere that makes you want to stay a little longer. And the cafés… ☕️ There are SO many cute coffee shops everywhere — from tiny local places to beautiful cafés hidden in the hills with incredible views. Da Lat is also famous for its coffee, which is grown in the surrounding highlands. I loved just walking around the city, discovering little cafés, parks, and flower gardens, grabbing a coffee, and enjoying how peaceful everything feels. There are also waterfalls, mountains, lakes, and lots of nature to explore outside the city. What surprised me most is that Da Lat wasn’t even high on our list before the trip, but ended up becoming one of my favorite places in Vietnam. If you’re planning a Vietnam trip, don’t skip Da Lat. Give it more than 3 days — you might end up staying 5 too. 🤍

Aside from the dog kennels, the beautifully landscaped grounds feature flower gardens, strawberry patches, and a mini-zoo with camels and horses. 🦫 The capybaras are incredibly cute! You can buy food right there to pet and feed them. Of course, it's very important to respect their space and let them go about their normal lives. 🦫 The raccoons are also super friendly. You aren't allowed to pet them since they're predators, but you can get right up close. It’s absolutely fascinating to watch them play and goof off. 🦫 The park also has a huge slide where you can have a blast riding an inner tube. 🦫 This farm is a fantastic spot for a family outing. This is one of those Da Lat experiences where you don’t really need a strict itinerary. The further you get from the center, the more the city seems to disappear. 🚂 START: Da Lat Railway Station Begin your morning at Da Lat Railway Station, one of the city’s most recognizable historic buildings. From here, take the historic train toward Trại Mát. The railway route is only around 7 km, so don’t expect a long-distance train journey. The ride itself takes roughly 30 minutes, but that’s exactly what makes it fun: you’re slowly leaving the city behind and watching the landscape change through the windows. 🌲 Soon, the dense city streets give way to hills, greenhouses, gardens and small houses. And then you arrive in Trại Mát. 📍 FIRST STOP: Linh Phước Pagoda This is probably the most famous attraction in the area — and it’s worth seeing even if you’re not particularly interested in temples. Linh Phước Pagoda is covered with incredibly detailed mosaics made from pieces of ceramic, porcelain and glass. Look closely at the walls, columns and sculptures and you’ll notice how much detail is packed into them. The colorful decoration is completely different from the minimalist temples you might have seen elsewhere in Vietnam. 📸 Take your time here. Don’t just walk in, take one photo and leave. Explore the different levels, courtyards and decorated areas. 🌿 THEN: JUST WALK This is the part most visitors rush through. Instead of immediately ordering a Grab back to central Da Lat, walk around the surrounding streets. Trại Mát feels much more agricultural than central Da Lat. You’ll see: 🌱 Vegetable gardens 🌸 Flower greenhouses 🏡 Small local houses ⛰️ Hills and mountain views 🛵 Locals going about their daily routines Da Lat is famous for its flowers, vegetables and coffee, but when you’re walking around areas like Trại Mát, you actually start to see where that reputation comes from. There are no major attractions every 200 meters. And that’s the point. ☕ FIND A LOCAL CAFÉ After walking around, stop somewhere for a Vietnamese coffee. Don’t worry about finding the most famous café with the perfect Instagram interior. Find somewhere simple, sit down, order a coffee and watch the landscape. This is when the whole experience starts to feel less like sightseeing and more like spending a normal afternoon in the Da Lat countryside. ⏰ HOW MUCH TIME DO YOU NEED? I’d give yourself at least 3–4 hours for this little escape. 🚂 Train ride → 🛕 Linh Phước Pagoda → 🚶 Walk around Trại Mát → 🌱 Explore the countryside → ☕ Coffee → 🚕 Return to central Da Lat If you have more time, don’t rush. My friend and I had just 10 days of vacation, and it was our first time in Vietnam 🇻🇳 We decided not to limit ourselves to a beach holiday but to see as much as possible, get to know different regions, and experience the true atmosphere of the country. So, we put together a packed itinerary: a little adventure, lots of experiences, local cuisine, beautiful places—and, of course, a few days for complete relaxation 🌴 ✨ Here's what we did: 📍 Day 1 — Getting to Know Nha Trang We flew to Nha Trang, checked into a simple hotel—just for the night—and immediately went for a stroll through the city at night. First impressions, bustling streets, local food, and the atmosphere of Vietnam 🇻🇳 📍 Days 2-3 — Dalat We took a private two-day tour and set out to conquer Dalat. We had to get up at 5am 😅, but in those two days we managed to see a huge number of interesting places and sights. We stayed overnight at the very comfortable Goldient Hotel—it was especially nice to return there to rest after a busy day. On the evening of the third day, we returned to Nha Trang and checked into the Iconique Hotel for the next four nights. 📍 Days 4-6 — Nha Trang We dedicated these days to Nha Trang itself: we strolled around the city, visited the sights, sampled the national cuisine, and, it seems, drank a huge number of fresh smoothies 🥭😂 There was no "just lying around the hotel"—every day we tried to get out and see something new. 📍 Days 7–10 — Cam Ranh And here we finally decided to slow down ❤️ We moved to Amiana Resort Cam Ranh and treated ourselves to a few days of a real beach vacation. Sea, sun, a beautiful hotel, and complete relaxation before returning home 🌊☀️ It turned out to be the perfect combination: active travel + getting to know Vietnam + a few days of proper relaxation. Valley of Love (Thung Lũng Tình Yêu) 🎶 How the walk begins Right at the entrance, we were greeted by musicians playing highly unusual music—the sounds resembled bird songs and the sounds of nature. We took a left and headed toward the main attraction: the glass bridge. 🌉 The Glass Bridge Before stepping onto the bridge, you have to put special shoe covers over your shoes to avoid scratching the glass. Strollers aren't allowed on the bridge, but the staff were super nice and helped us carry ours to the other side. Walking across the glass floor turned out to be not scary at all, even though you occasionally hear the sound of cracking glass beneath your feet 😅 It definitely adds a thrill and makes the walk way more exciting. The bridge itself is quite long—about 300 meters—and hangs nearly 100 meters above the ground. ❤️ What awaits you after the bridge On the other side, a truly beautiful part of the park begins: there's a maze made of real heart-shaped bushes, floral arches, and plenty of cute photo spots. You can simply stroll through the greenery, then grab some ice cream and chill by the beautiful lake. For those who prefer something more active, there's a slide you can ride down. 💍 One more idea I think the Valley of Love is a perfect spot for a marriage proposal. There are so many romantic locations, gorgeous flowers, and stunning views ❤️ 💰 Pricing: · Valley of Love admission — approx. 250,000 VND · Valley of Love + Glass Bridge — approx. 400,000 VND 📍 Address: 7 Mai Anh Dao, Da Lat, Vietnam 🕐 Hours: roughly 07:00 AM – 05:00 PM. We visited as part of a guided tour, so we didn't have much time to explore. The park is actually massive—it's the kind of place you'd want to visit on your own and just wander around peacefully for a few hours.

We came to Langbiang Mountain specifically for the panoramic view of Da Lat—and once we reached the top, I realized it was completely worth it! Rolling hills, the city, and colorful fields unfolded before us. It’s absolutely beautiful 😍 📍 Where to go: Khu Du Lich Langbiang, 305 Langbiang Street, Lac Duong Town. You buy your tickets and hop on a jeep right at the entrance of the tourist area. 💰 Cost: Entrance is about 50,000 VND, and a round-trip ticket including the jeep ride is around 170,000 VND/person. 🚙 You can't drive your own car up there—tourists are only transported in their official vehicles. We waited about 15 minutes, and then the ride up took another 15 minutes or so. ⚠️ Important tip: If you're in a small group, they might seat other tourists in your jeep. We shared our ride with another group, and we had to take the same jeep back down together. So, make sure to memorize the license plate number right away and agree on a return time with your fellow passengers. At the top, you can just stroll around and soak in the views 🌿 There are beautiful walking trails, various photo spots, and a free "sky swing." We also found a cute train car 🚂—you can go inside and snap some pictures. We didn't eat at the cafe; we just grabbed a refreshing coconut 🥥 Prices here are a bit higher than in the city. But the main highlight here is, of course, the view. It’s incredibly peaceful and beautiful.

We visited the Vườn Cafe Chồn, Cafe Voi - Phú An farm in Da Lat, where the famous luwak coffee is produced. 📌 A few facts: • The animal is actually called a musang, not a luwak. • It eats only the ripest coffee berries, which gives the coffee its unique flavor. • The drink is very strong, rich, and smooth. I loved it! ⚠️ If you want to buy this coffee, only buy it from farms. There are a lot of counterfeits in Vietnam, and tourist shops often sell fake luwak. 😔 But there's a downside. The musang sits on a chain all day, posing for photos with tourists. Nearby, there are elephants and ostriches, offering rides. Honestly, I felt really sorry for the animals.
