#slowtraveling Along the rugged southern coast of Malta, the Blue Grotto reveals a world of dramatic cliffs, hidden sea caves, and impossibly blue Mediterranean waters. 💙⛵ Sunlight slips through the natural arches and reflects beneath the surface, turning the caves into glowing shades of turquoise and sapphire. From the cliffs above, the endless Mediterranean stretches toward the horizon, while below, the crystal-clear sea gently moves through the ancient limestone formations. 🌊☀️ A boat ride through the caves makes the experience even more magical, revealing a side of Malta that feels almost otherworldly. As the golden light of evening touches the cliffs, the sea seems to shine brighter, creating a scene that feels like nature’s own masterpiece. 🌅✨ Carved by the sea, illuminated by sunlight, and painted in endless shades of blue—Blue Grotto is Malta at its most enchanting. 🇲🇹💙 #bluegrotto #malta #naturelovers #crystalclearwater #wanderlust #travelphotography #beautifuldestinations #travelinspiration #islandescape #exploreeurope

#worthitomot #Gozo #TaPinu #Dwejra I took the 9:45 am Gozo hop-on-hop-off purple line from Mġarr Harbour (€12–16 on-island only, €22–28 with Malta ferry; I’d already paid €4.50 return ferry from Ċirkewwa, card at terminal) and hopped off at Ta’ Pinu National Shrine first. The church is free, marble floors, votive model boats hanging from the ceiling—5 minutes inside is enough. Then bus 15 min to Dwejra. The Azure Window collapsed in March 2017; what remains is the Inland Sea—a saltwater lagoon connected to the open sea by a 50 m tunnel through the cliff—plus the Blue Hole dive site and the flat-topped Fungus Rock. I paid €5 for a 20-minute boat ride into the tunnel (cash only, negotiable with the boatman, no ticket desk), and sat on the remnant cliff deck where the arch used to frame the sky. No entry fee to Dwejra itself, no railings, wind that nearly took my cap. Mistake: I wore sandals—the limestone scramble from the bus stop to the Inland Sea quay is sharp and uneven; trail shoes next time. Another mistake: assuming the HOHO bus waits—it leaves on schedule, so if you linger 90 min at Dwejra you miss the next purple line and walk 40 min to the next stop. Worth it? Yes, but only if you accept the window is gone. The tunnel boat and the blue-hole light are the real show now; chasing the old postcard is a letdown. Discussion: does a collapsed icon still deserve a visit, or should Gozo redirect everyone to Ramla Bay instead?

The UAE's rapid rise is remarkable. Henley says the UAE has added 153 destinations to its visa-free/visa-on-arrival access over the past 20 years—the largest gain recorded by any passport in the index's history. ✈️ Final Takeaway Singapore 🇸🇬 — World's strongest passport Japan 🇯🇵 / South Korea 🇰🇷 / UAE 🇦🇪 — 188 destinations Europe 🇪🇺 — Dominates the upper ranks Malaysia 🇲🇾 — Asia's other major top-10 passport USA 🇺🇸 — Still top 10, but its long-term position has weakened A strong passport doesn't just make holidays easier—it can improve access to business, education, tourism and international opportunities. 🌍 One passport can open hundreds of doors around the world. #underratedspots A colorful day in Marsaxlokk, Malta 🇲🇹 Marsaxlokk is a charming fishing village known for its traditional boats, peaceful harbour, and waterfront seafood restaurants. It is a lovely place for a relaxed walk, lunch by the sea, and beautiful photos. A few tips: visit earlier in the day to avoid the biggest crowds, especially on Sunday market day. Wear comfortable shoes, check restaurant menus before choosing, and walk a little farther along the harbour for quieter photo spots. You can also combine the visit with St. Peter’s Pool nearby. What I loved most was the calm atmosphere. Sitting by the water, watching the colorful boats, and enjoying the slower pace made the whole visit feel simple, peaceful, and memorable. #Marsaxlokk #MaltaTravel #TripMoments #VisitMalta #Mediterranean

Gozo is a great place to spend a few days, with some gorgeous natural and historical sites. The top five places to see are as follows. 1. The Citadella in the center of Gozos capital, Victoria. This is the original government center and nowadays has various museums, exhibitions, courtyards, viewpoints and small alleys, tunnels and huge fortified walls. I visited twice and spent a total of six hours exploring the massive complex and there was still more to experience. 2. Ramla Beach to relax on the beach, swim and gwt into summer beach vibe. After a nice nap I recommend to check out the cliffs around the small Mixta Cave. It is possible to take a bus here but check the schedules or better yet use a taxi. 3. Rotunda St. John Baptist Church. This is one of the most identifying landmarks as you leave the port of Gozo and drive inland. It is such an appealing looking structure and well worth closer inspection! 4. Hike around the cliffs tops overlooking the sea or go inland and hike the many gorges of Gozo. Wadi Mgarr Ix Xini is a particularly interesting hike twisting below high limestone cliffs and along narrow trails, through high grasses and reeds. There are many varieties of birds here. It is possible to see the locals on a Saturday or Sunday, rock climbing or also hiking around and is a pleasant two/three hour return hike. 5. Gganti Temples and Museum Complex. This is a fantastic site and one of the Worlds oldest temples (approximately 5000 years old). The grounds are massive and have many excellent archeological finds. Inside the museum are some well thought-out and informative displays about the historical significance of the Temples. There are also many intriguing artifacts, statues, jewelry and utensils. #travel2026 #europetrip #gozo #malta #travel #ancienttemples #historicallandmarks #naturalwonders #beachvacation

Crystal-clear waters, sunshine, salty air, and a pineapple cocktail in hand 🍍🍹✨ A little slice of paradise in the heart of the Mediterranean. 💙 Malta, you’ve been unforgettable! 🇲🇹🌴 #Malta #BlueLagoon #Comino #MaltaTravel #IslandLife #Mediterranean #TravelMemories #Paradise #SummerVibes #Wanderlust

If Malta has never been on your travel list, this might be your sign to add it. Before visiting, I honestly didn’t know much about Malta either. It’s a tiny island country in the middle of the Mediterranean, just south of Italy, and somehow it still feels much less talked about than destinations like Italy, Greece or Spain. But that was exactly what made it so memorable. Malta feels like several different trips packed into one small country: golden historic cities, dramatic coastlines, incredibly clear blue water, quiet medieval streets, and little seaside towns — all relatively close to each other. 📍 Valletta Start with Valletta, Malta’s beautiful capital. The city is full of honey-coloured limestone buildings, traditional Maltese balconies and narrow streets leading towards the sea. What I loved most was simply walking around without a strict plan. One moment you’re surrounded by historic architecture, and a few streets later you suddenly get an amazing view of the Mediterranean. The Upper Barrakka Gardens are especially worth visiting for the view over the Grand Harbour and the Three Cities. Valletta is compact enough to explore on foot, so give yourself time to wander rather than rushing from one attraction to another. 🏰 Mdina – the Silent City Mdina was probably one of the most atmospheric places I visited in Malta. It’s an ancient fortified city filled with narrow stone streets, beautiful old buildings and almost no traffic inside the historic centre. Walking through it genuinely feels like stepping into another century. I would recommend visiting in the late afternoon and staying until sunset. As the crowds begin to disappear and the warm lights come on, Mdina becomes incredibly peaceful. If you love old European towns, castles, historic architecture or anything slightly cinematic, do not skip this place. 🌊 Comino & the Blue Lagoon And then there is the completely different side of Malta — the sea. The Blue Lagoon on the tiny island of Comino is probably one of Malta’s most famous places, and once you see the colour of the water, you understand why. The Mediterranean here can look almost unreal: bright turquoise, incredibly clear and surrounded by rocky coastline. Boat trips to Comino are very popular, and if you visit during the warmer months, swimming here is definitely one of those classic Malta experiences. Malta’s coastline has plenty of other beautiful swimming spots too, so if you have more time, don’t limit yourself to just one beach. 🌿 Gozo If your trip is longer than a few days, I would also recommend visiting Gozo. Gozo feels quieter, greener and more relaxed than Malta’s main island. It’s perfect if you want to slow down for a day, explore small villages, see the Citadel and enjoy the coastline without the busier atmosphere of the main tourist areas. It’s one of those places where the journey itself — driving through the countryside and stopping wherever looks beautiful — becomes part of the experience. 🍋 What surprised me most about Malta The biggest surprise was how diverse such a small destination could feel. In one trip, you can spend the morning walking through a medieval city, have lunch overlooking a harbour, swim in bright blue Mediterranean water in the afternoon and watch the sunset from a historic waterfront in the evening. There are obvious influences from Italy and the rest of the Mediterranean, but Malta still has a very distinct character of its own — from its limestone architecture and colourful balconies to its unique history and culture. ☀️ Who would I recommend Malta to? Malta is perfect if you: · love European cities but also want a beach holiday · enjoy beautiful architecture and historic streets · want Mediterranean scenery without doing the typical Italy/Greece itinerary · like destinations that are easy to explore in a few days · want somewhere photogenic but still full of history and character Personally, I think 4–5 days is a great amount of time for a first trip, especially if you want to combine Valletta, Mdina and a day trip to Comino or Gozo. Malta may not be the first place people think of when planning a European summer trip, but that is exactly why I wanted to share it. Tiny country, beautiful cities, ridiculously blue water and so much history. Definitely one of the Mediterranean destinations that deserves far more attention. 🇲🇹💙 #Malta #VisitMalta #MaltaTravel #Valletta #Mdina #Gozo #Comino #BlueLagoon #Mediterranean #EuropeTravel #EuropeTrip #HiddenGem #TravelInspiration #IslandTravel #TripMoments

#summerinonecut Malta in summer is just *chef’s kiss*—so warm, welcoming, and totally vibey. ☀️🌊 Wildflowers literally explode all over the countryside, turning hiking along the Dingli Cliffs into a straight-up fairytale moment. If you love artsy stuff, the Malta International Arts Festival is a major flex! 🎨 You get to see both local and international artists dropping their prettiest pieces, and honestly, the creativity is next level. Don’t sleep on the seaside art galleries either—they’re a whole experience, with wild views and super cool exhibits you won’t find anywhere else. Most galleries are open daily, and the Malta International Arts Festival usually runs in late June into early July (check trip.com for exact dates and tickets!). Top spots include the Dingli Cliffs (Dingli, Malta), open all hours for hiking, and plenty of galleries close to Valletta’s waterfront. Summer in Malta is my fave—it’s all about golden sunshine, blooming landscapes, and dreamy art vibes everywhere. Now that's a summer I’ll never get tired of!

#easytravelpost Dwejra (Gozo) is famous for the Inland Sea — a 100 m-wide saltwater lagoon connected to the open sea by a 100 m tunnel through the cliff. The walk I did was the cliff-top loop from the Inland Sea to Fungus Rock, 2.5 km, 1 hr, free. The mossy half is the north-facing limestone ledge behind the Inland Sea boathouse, where Syntrichia and Bryum pad the globigerina limestone and the sea spray keeps it damp year-round. I took the Gozo Channel ferry (€4.65 passenger, card), bus 311 to Dwejra (€2, Tallinja card, tap on bus), walked at 8 a.m. in February. The Inland Sea boat through the tunnel is €8 return (cash, 20 min). The cliff walk is exposed coralline and globigerina limestone — the moss lives on the shaded north face of the ridge where the tunnel's exhaust moisture condenses. The Azure Window collapsed in 2017, but the cliff geology is unchanged — 140 m vertical drops to blue water. Mistake: I visited in August — no moss (dry season), 35°C, cliff glare, zero shade, 15 min and I was done. Nov–March for moss. Second mistake: I climbed down the cliff "for a better tunnel shot" — local fisherman: "that's a 60 m drop on loose rock, 2 rescues in 2023, stay on the path or €150 fine". Third: I paid €8 for the boat but only had a €20 note — the boathouse had no change, had to wait for the next group, 20 min delay. Buy in San Lawrenz: a €2.50 pastizzi (ricotta or pea pasty), not the €12 Dwejra kiosk. Gear: 1.5 L water, €10 hat, €15 wind shell — Gozo wind 25 km/h. Local rule: walk free, boat €8 cash, no drone near the coastguard station (restricted), stay on the cliff path, the mossy ledge is not a selfie spot — 3 m from the edge minimum. The moss on the limestone is the sea tunnel's breath — step on bare rock. Opinion: Dwejra's Inland Sea is the €8 boat that's worth it, but the mossy limestone cliff walk behind the boathouse is the free 30-min half with zero boat-queue crowd. Should Ambjent Malta add a €1 honour box at the cliff path for erosion boards, or keep it free? I'd add it. Would you ferry to Gozo just to walk a mossy limestone cliff above a 100 m sea tunnel?

One of the things I love most about exploring Malta is discovering the details that make its streets so unique — and the traditional Maltese balcony is definitely one of them. Known locally as the gallarija, these colourful enclosed wooden balconies are a beautiful part of Malta’s architectural identity. You’ll find them adorning historic buildings across Valletta, Mdina, the Three Cities, and many other towns. Each balcony seems to have its own character, with different colours, shapes and decorative details. They add so much charm to the limestone streets and are a wonderful reminder of Malta’s rich history and cultural heritage. Walking through Malta and spotting these beautiful balconies feels like discovering little pieces of history around every corner. 🇲🇹💛 📍 Malta 🏠 Traditional Gallarija ✨ Architecture • History • Maltese Culture

The capital of Malta is really one of Europes unknown gems. It is nestled between Tunisia and Sicily in the midlle of the Mediterranean sea. With a perpetual sunny and warm climate it is pleasant to visit anytime of the year, although July and August can be hot and busy. There are lots of fantastic things to see, I recommend starting with St.Johns Cathedral and it's massive plaza. Across the street is the Upper Barrrakka Gardens and the Saluting Battery. Here it is possible to watch and hear the cannons firing out over the Grand Harbor. It is done most days at noon and again at four PM. The CBD proper is full of cafes, restaurants, artisans shops, pottery, clothing found throughout alley ways that lead to secluded plazas. It really is great to explore and experience the city slowly. Walking around the city is not a problem and there are ferries to Vallettas neighborhoods or a super public bus network. I do not recommend renting a car, the parking on Malta is terrible. Just taking the bus or a cab will make the holiday simpler. I can recommend, The Gomerino Hotel it is perfectly located, the staff is super helpful and the rooms are gorgeous! Also from here you can walk a few minutes to watch the sun sets majestic colors, have dinner at almost any cuisine from around the world and then enjoy the evening at one of the funky bars! #malta #travel2026 #valletta #europetrip #couplestrip #myitinerary #citydaytours #tripmoments

Stepping into Marsaskala feels like discovering the authentic, unhurried heartbeat of the Maltese coastline. Tucked away around a deep, sheltered inlet on Malta's southeastern shore, this traditional fishing village trades the heavy crowds of the capital for a serene, deeply welcoming atmosphere. Strolling along the sweeping promenade as gentle waves lap against brightly painted boats and the warm afternoon sun casts a golden glow over the limestone docks was an utterly relaxing and soul-refreshing experience. ☀️⛵ . 📅 What I experienced · Strolling the Waterfront Promenade: Walking along the long, horseshoe-shaped harbor where locals gather to chat, fish, and enjoy the refreshing breeze rolling in off the Mediterranean. · Exploring St. Thomas Bay: Venturing just a short distance down the coast to discover this stunning natural inlet, featuring dramatic limestone cliffs and crystal-clear waters perfect for peaceful coastal views. · Discovering Local Heritage: Coming across the historic Tower of St. Thomas, a massive 17th-century bastion built by the Knights of Malta that stands proudly overlooking the sea. . 🏨 Where I stayed · I stayed in a charming, modern seaside apartment with a wide balcony overlooking the entire blue harbor. Waking up early at sunrise to watch the local fishing skiffs head out to sea while sipping a quiet morning coffee was absolute serenity. 🛏️☕ . 🍴 My culinary highlights · Maltese seaside dining is an absolute treat for seafood lovers. I savored a generous plate of fresh local octopus stewed in a rich garlic, tomato, and red wine sauce, accompanied by a basket of crusty *hobż biż-żejt* and a glass of chilled Maltese white wine at a harbor-front terrace. 🐙🍷 . 📌 My tips for visiting · Rent a Car or Use Public Buses: While Marsaskala has direct bus connections to Valletta, having a rental car gives you the freedom to easily explore the hidden rocky coves and historic sites scattered across the southern tip of the island. · Enjoy the Evening Atmosphere: The village comes alive in the late afternoon and evening as families and locals take their traditional *stroll* along the promenade. Grab an outdoor table at a local café just before sunset. · Wear Comfortable Footwear: While the main waterfront is flat and paved, exploring the rugged limestone paths around the nearby bays and headlands requires sturdy walking shoes. 📸🎒 . #Marsaskala #MaltaTravel #VisitMalta #TravelDeep #MalteseCoast #MediterraneanVillage #SouthMalta #BucketList #ExploreMalta #TravelDiaries

Stepping into Marsaxlokk feels like arriving in a timeless Mediterranean haven where traditional life moves to the gentle rhythm of the sea. Located on the southeastern coast of Malta, this charming traditional fishing village is famous for its vibrant fleet of *luzzu*—brightly painted wooden fishing boats adorned with the ancient Phoenician Eye of Osiris on their prows to ward off evil. Wandering along the picturesque palm-lined promenade as the afternoon sun glints off the calm turquoise harbor waters was an utterly relaxing and authentic Maltese experience. 🌊☀️ . 📅 What I experienced · The Sunday Open-Air Market: Exploring the bustling seaside market stalls brimming with fresh local catches, artisanal honey, traditional Maltese lace, and regional delicacies. · Photographing the Luzzu Fleet: Strolling along the harbor wall to admire the colorful cluster of red, blue, yellow, and green fishing boats bobbing gently against the pier. · St. Peter's Pool: Taking a short trip out to this stunning natural swimming pool carved into the smooth limestone rocks, famous for its crystal-clear emerald waters. . 🏨 Where I stayed · I stayed in a cozy, family-run guesthouse right along the waterfront promenade. Waking up at sunrise to watch the local fishermen mend their nets and hearing the gentle splash of water against the boats outside my window was pure serenity. 🛏️☕ . 🍴 My culinary highlights · Maltese coastal dining is all about the freshest catch of the day. I savored a delicious pan-roasted lampuki (local dolphinfish) seasoned with capers, tomatoes, and olives, paired with a crisp glass of chilled Maltese white wine at a harbor-front restaurant. 🐟🍷 . 📌 My tips for visiting · Visit on Sunday Morning: The village comes alive during the famous weekly fish and open-air market, making it the most vibrant time to experience local culture and cuisine. · Wear Comfortable Walking Shoes: While the promenade is flat and easy to stroll, walking out to nearby coastal spots like St. Peter's Pool involves uneven limestone paths and rocky terrain. · Rent a Car or Take a Bus: Marsaxlokk is easily accessible from Valletta via direct local buses, though having a car gives you the freedom to explore hidden southern coves and megalithic temples nearby. 📸🎒 . #Marsaxlokk #MaltaTravel #VisitMalta #TravelDeep #LuzzuBoats #MalteseCoast #TraditionalVillage #BucketList #ExploreMalta #TravelDiaries

📍 Mdina, Malta — The Silent City That Feels Like a Movie Set ✨ Stepping into Mdina felt like walking through a medieval storybook. With its honey-colored limestone buildings, narrow winding streets, elegant doorways, and peaceful atmosphere, it’s easy to see why this place is called the Silent City. One of my favorite things was simply wandering without a map. Every corner revealed beautiful architecture, hidden courtyards, charming balconies, and breathtaking views over the Maltese countryside. Since cars are rarely allowed inside the city walls, the quietness makes the experience even more magical. If you’re visiting Malta, I highly recommend coming in the late afternoon and staying until sunset. The golden light makes the entire city glow, and as the crowds begin to leave, Mdina becomes even more enchanting. ✨ Tips: 📸 Wear light-colored outfits—they look amazing against the warm limestone walls. 🚶 Take your time exploring the side streets—you’ll find the best photo spots away from the main square. 🌅 Stay for sunset if you can. The atmosphere is unforgettable. ⭐ Rating: 10/10 ⏰ Recommended visit: 2–3 hours (or longer if you love photography and history) Have you visited Mdina? What was your favorite hidden corner of the Silent City? 💛 #Mdina #Malta #SilentCity #TripMoments #Travel #Europe #HistoricCity #TravelPhotography #Wanderlust #VisitMalta

Malta is such a beautiful country! It is just two small islands Malta and Gozo. Valletta the capital city is hundreds of years old and officially became the capital in 1571, so it is kinda old! The rocky islands are located south of Sicily and east of Tunisia in the Mediterranean Sea. One of the most famous and gorgeous hikes is on the southern tip of Malta. It starts just outside of the quaint town of Zurrieq. It begins by hiking into and through Wied Babu (Gorge) and along the southern coast to the Blue Grotto (named because of the massive cathedral like caves and the seas color), then continue past Wied Zurrieq and along the jagged limestone cliffs to Torri tal Hamrija (an old lighthouse). The last section of the trail follows above and beside the sea until Ghar Lapsi and the large parking lot for the TarRita restaurant. I recommend taking some sunscreen and a litre of water per person! #backpacking2026 #malta #europetrip

Malta 🇲🇹 is a Mediterranean dream, but if there is one place that completely steals the show, it is the breathtaking Blue Lagoon on the small island of Comino. The water here is so intensely turquoise and crystal clear that boats literally look like they are floating in mid-air. It is one of those rare places that looks exactly like the postcard, making it an absolute paradise for swimming, snorkeling, and coastal photography. How I Explored the Blue Lagoon and Beyond? 🏖 1. Since the lagoon is located on an uninhabited island, getting there requires a bit of planning. I arranged a day-long catamaran cruise that departed early in the morning, which was the perfect way to beat the crowds. The cruise not only took us straight to the best swimming spots in Comino but also included stops around the stunning sea caves of Gozo. It was incredibly convenient to have the boat logistics settled in advance so I could just focus on the scenery. 2. Exploring the Historic Capital: After a full day out on the water, returning to the main island offered a completely different vibe. I spent my evening walking through Valetta, Malta’s walled capital city. The historic streets are packed with Baroque architecture, beautiful limestone buildings, and incredible viewpoints overlooking the Grand Harbour. It is the perfect cultural contrast to a day spent at the beach. Essential Traveler Tips: Timing is Everything: The Blue Lagoon is incredibly popular. If you want to capture pristine photos without hundreds of tourists in the background, choose an early morning boat departure or visit during the late afternoon. What to Pack: There is very little shade on Comino Island. Make sure to bring plenty of sunscreen, a hat, and sturdy water shoes, as the coast around the lagoon is quite rocky. Is Malta's Blue Lagoon on your summer travel wishlist, or have you already explored this Mediterranean gem? Let me know in the comments below!😃 #bluelagoon #comino #malta #mediterranean
