A quick heads-up: many shops here don't open on weekends, and the ones that do tend to close super early. Be sure to double-check their hours! · La Veen Coffee: Our first stop was to fuel up on coffee. This cafe was right by our hotel. The coffee was amazing, and the toasted ham and cheese croissant was perfectly crispy and delicious. · Fremantle Markets: We took a stroll around the market and the surrounding town. There was another spot I wanted to try (Howard's Groove Coffee), but it was packed and had no seating left. Definitely check it out if you have time! · The University of Western Australia (UWA): We originally planned to walk around the campus, but right off the bus, we spotted black swans (which hang around the Swan River every day). #winterescape The Museum of Perth is small and focused, which honestly makes it easy to enjoy. You only need about 30 minutes, but you’ll leave with a much better understanding of how Perth developed and what shaped the city. Been here before it was renovated and the after was completely different. Love the exhibition all way round, amazing work put on for viewers. Had a lot more to show and educational for kids. I didn’t have to wait long to enter as I went there during a week day so it wasn’t that busy. Definitely recommend coming again.

With the information provided by Gordon, the experience was taken to the next level. I'm really glad I booked this tour and would recommend it to anyone. A long drive from Perth but well worth the trip when you can climb to the top of the rock and get to enjoy the view up there. Although I wish the Shire can use a safer and discreet barrier than the concrete screen at the top of the rock which is starting to collapse. Be sure to walk along the Lotterywest Federation Walkway - a bridge among the eucalyptus treetops. The view of the city centre from the War Memorial is picture-perfect. Lunch (1:30pm – 2:30pm): Head down to Elizabeth Quay. We recommend SIMPLE Italian Cucina - right on the waterfront, excellent pizza and pasta, very convenient between walks. Afternoon (3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.): Cruise on the Swan River. Take a 2.5-hour cruise from Barrack Square Pier (near the bell tower). You will see Perth from the water, sail under bridges and see Fremantle from the bay. 🍷 Dinner (7:30 p.m.): Angel Falls Grill is an excellent option. It is a Venezuelan steakhouse located 5 minutes by taxi from the city centre. It is a very colourful place with a lively atmosphere. Day 2: Fremantle and the ocean Today you will need transport (train). How to get there: take the train from Perth Station. Fremantle Line. The journey takes 30 minutes, with trains running every 10-15 minutes. The views from the window are picturesque. Breakfast in Fremantle: the markets open at 10:00, so have breakfast at a café first. Little Bird Cafe or La Veen Coffee. Morning (10:00 – 13:00): History and markets. Fremantle Markets: Open Friday to Sunday. This is the bustling heart of the city. #australiatrip DNA Tower in Kings Park, Perth, WA, is a cool spot to visit. It looks like a DNA strand and gives great views of Perth and the Swan River. The climb isn’t too hard, and the view from the top is amazing. The area around the tower is very green and peaceful. DNA is the building block of life. As you can see, it is a double helix. Crick and Watson won the Nobel Prize for discovering this. It's quite a tall tower, but anyone of average fitness will be able to make the climb. Apart from gaining the satisfaction of climbing a replica of a strand of DNA, the tower is the tallest vantage point in Kings Park.

#australiatrip I came across Matagarup Bridge while walking from Perth Station to Perth Stadium Station — it was one of the highlights of my walk. The bridge is strikingly modern and impressive in its design. Matagarup Bridge, opened to the public in July 2018, connects East Perth with the Burswood Peninsula across the Swan River. When visiting Optus Stadium recently, we chose to walk back over the Matagarup Bridge to return to East Perth and the free bus service to get back into town. It as an impressive structure to say the least.
