I recently had an early morning layover in Addis Ababa and wanted to share my experience. We landed at 6.30am and got a bus to the terminal. The security check was quick and the terminal has quite a number of restaurants, bars and coffee shops as well as massage places and free wifi. There is a good pharmacy and duty free too. Closer to the gates, there are some premium lounges. The airport is currently undergoing renovations and most places accept credit card charged in dollars. #urbanexplorer #mytripvlog

Laibela is a national world heritage site located just outside of Amhara Ethiopia. Now, understand that I have been around the world six times and have visited over 100 countries…… but, I cannot remember when I have ever been so moved and rocked to the core like I was when I visited these incredible churches….. If there were ever a bucket list place to visit this would be it completely. According to UNESCO; “The churches were not constructed in a traditional way but rather were hewn from the living rock of monolithic blocks. I spent 21 hours in Addis Ababa

I arrived at 5am and was given a hotel room to rest in since my layover was long. After taking a shower and resting for two hours, I woke up to have breakfast. Later, I took another shower and went outside to explore Addis Ababa. I visited Unity Park where I saw many wild animals. Ethiopia is a beautiful country. The admission fee for the park is 10 dollars. The park is quite expansive, so be prepared to do a lot of walking.
