When you come to Amsterdam, be sure to rent a bike and explore the city. Some must-visit tourist attractions include the Anne Frank House, the Van Gogh Museum, and the Rijksmuseum. However, my favorite activity is sitting by the canal and enjoying the city's leisurely atmosphere. This trip was very spontaneous, which unfortunately meant that there were no tickets available at the Van Gogh Museum (I recommend booking online in advance). The main attraction I wanted to see was the Anne Frank House, one of the most historically significant sites in Amsterdam and a must-visit for tourists from around the world. This site documents the life of a Jewish girl who, during World War II, hid with her family and friends in a secret annex to escape the Nazis, writing her famous diary during this time. The original design has been preserved, allowing visitors to deeply experience the fear and loneliness they felt during that period. It was a heavy experience, but it also made us reflect on the importance of peace. :( Amsterdam is truly a city full of freedom and multiculturalism, with unique charm in every corner. A little funny [Diamond Museum] What surprised me was the skeleton decorated with diamonds. I think it's an animal because it has canine teeth, but it was spinning around in a small glass room with mood songs playing😅 I didn't take any photos, but the tennis racket and the crown with a big diamond were also worth seeing. 1) A’dam Lookout is a spectacular tower holding the highest swing in Europe. This is a very affordable and extremely worthwhile experience, to feel like you are flying with your friend or partner beside you! The views from the tower alone are worthwhile if you don’t fancy braving the swing. Also, if you’re a group of three, one of you will get to go twice! As A’dam is over on the Northern side of the city, not everyone realises that access is very simple. There’s a regular free ferry that crosses the canal, accessible around the back of central station. While you’re there, it’s also worth checking out the EYE film museum right next door! 2) Muiderslot castle. Muiderslot is easily missed by visitors to the city as it lies on the outskirts in Muiden, and is waterlocked, but it this historical treasure is well worth a visit. Built in 1370 by the Duke of Bavaria, it is one of the best preserved medieval castles I’ve ever seen. Although it is technically accessible by road, the easiest (and most fun) way to get there is taking the bus to Ijberg then boarding the Amsterdam Tourist Ferry's jetty. Travel there and back included, you’ll have a 4 hour trip to explore this beautiful castle and listen to the audio tour recounting its fascinating history. You can also explore the vast gardens and grounds. 3) Hortus botanicus is often missed in favour of the Amsterdam zoo, but it is actually one of the worlds OLDEST botanical gardens. Start your day with breakfast the Dutch way! An apple pie and a glass of latte. This shop is called Winkel 43 and is very famous in Amsterdam. The apple pie is about 5.7 euros, and Latte thinks it is about 3 euros. The apple pulp in the apple pie is large and clearly visible, not too sweet, and combined with the aroma of cinnamon, it is really a perfect morning. (I didn’t finish the cream at that time. The clerk looked at me worriedly and asked me if it didn’t suit the taste. Apparently they were very confident in their own cream.) Next, introduce the National Museum. If you want to introduce it, you really can't introduce it in one day. If you want to look at the collection carefully, you can't go through it in one or two days. Famous works include "The Milkmaid", Van Gogh's works, etc. In contrast, I prefer the exquisite carving series inside, especially the exquisite works carved from ivory and walnut. One of my favorite exhibits in the museum is a doll's house from the 17th century. The workmanship inside is very exquisite and meticulous. I finally left Northern Europe where the temperature was minus five degrees Celsius every day. I took a flight to Amsterdam, the Netherlands early in the morning, and the temperature instantly rose to 13 degrees. After staying in Northern Europe for a month, 13 degrees is really a warm number. The train ride from Amsterdam Airport to the city center takes about 20 minutes and the ticket price is about 4.9 euros (you can enter the station by swiping your card at the machine. In Europe, only the Netherlands has facilities for swiping cards in and out). As soon as you get off the station and walk forward you will see the famous city of Amsterdam. There are canals everywhere, and lively and unique shops everywhere. The famous foods here include apple pie, cheese, fish and chips, etc., but you can also try something new. The fries here are pretty good, but the closer you get to the city center, the more expensive they are. We also ate at an ice cream shop called Van der Linde here, and the price was about 1.7 Euros. The ice cream tastes like frozen whipped cream. Maybe some people really like it, after all, there are so many people queuing up. As for cheese, there are really many choices in the Netherlands. Cheese is sold everywhere in the city, which is very suitable for cheese lovers to taste it here.
