G331 Detailed Guide: Northeast Section, Arctic Village to Arxan

Day1: Arctic Village - Mohe - Mangui. The G331 from Luoguhe to Qiqian is a forest road, it is said that without enough cash you can't get through, and we just wanted to check out the Mohe dance hall, so we took the route through Mohe. Visit the Mohe dance hall in the morning, then take the S219 into the primeval forest of the Greater Khingan Range. There is often no signal in the forest, so it's a good idea to download offline maps. The Ewenki tribe's Donya tribe in the photo is right by the roadside (not searchable on the map), this place has a very weak commercial atmosphere, it only costs 10 yuan per person to see the reindeer, and 20 yuan for a bucket of moss. Dong Yuhui's description of the reindeer chasing moss can all be perfectly presented here, it's really like a fairy tale! Day2: Mangui - Shiwei. This stretch of road is newly built and in good condition, but not searchable on the map. Navigate to the Yikesama Forest Park, go inside the park gate and keep going, about 290 kilometers to reach Shiwei, basically following the rapid river, joining G331 in the middle, the scenery is great! As you approach Shiwei, you transition from the forest to the Hulunbuir grasslands, Shiwei is a Russian ethnic township, full of exotic charm! Day3: Shiwei - Ulan Mountain - Moergen River Scenic Area. The journey is over 300 kilometers, this part is the essence of the Hulunbuir grasslands. From Shiwei to Ulan Mountain, be sure to take the X904, following the right bank of the Erguna River along the China-Russia border, the scenery is picturesque. In Ulan Mountain, you can experience the unique activity of Hulunbuir - grass sliding! Since we wanted to watch the sunset at the Moergen River, we arrived at the scenic area before evening (book tickets in advance), watched the sunset, and camped by the roadside at a herdsman's home for 100 yuan (bring your own tent), the herdsman's barbecue skewers and hand-grabbed meat were really delicious. Waking up in the morning, the tent was surrounded by cattle and sheep, a full experience! (Check the weather forecast, don't rain!) Day4: Moergen River - Manzhouli. The scenery along this stretch is also particularly beautiful, with endless grassland landscapes and lakes and wetlands, where you can stop and play at any time. Day5: Manzhouli - Hulun Lake - Xi Banner. Hulun Lake is definitely worth a visit, it's super big and great for photography. For lamb in China, look to Hulunbuir, and for Hulunbuir lamb, look to Xi Banner, the lamb in Xi Banner is really delicious, especially tender, without any mutton smell, try the Xi Banner hotpot, it's extremely tasty. Day6: Xi Banner - Arxan. The great forest, the unfrozen river, wildflowers by the forest edge, beauty that intoxicates, like a fairy tale dream, definitely want to come back in autumn to see this picturesque scenery!
