Travel meals often lack vegetables, but that's not a concern in Kumamoto. Both the local dish Takana Meshi and Dago Soup (a miso soup with plenty of vegetables and dumplings made from kneaded wheat flour) are packed with vegetables. Plus, the satisfaction level is high! One serving is enough for two people to share. At the original 'Takana Meshi' restaurant, you'll be amazed by the retro items from the Showa era that are still in use. It felt like a time slip.
