This year on January 25th, the Yamayaki Festival will be held again on Mount Wakakusa in Nara, Kansai! Before the fire lighting, there will also be a large fireworks display 🎆 very impressive~ ✨Event Schedule✨ ✅12:30 - 15:00 Activities at the foot of the mountain Including deer cracker throwing contests, food stalls related to Kasuga Taisha, Kofuku-ji, and Todai-ji temples, and more. ✅16:45 Sacred Fire Ceremony Fire seeds are taken from the Kasuga hearth. ✅17:05 Sacred Fire Procession Departure The sacred fire procession departs, carrying the sacred fire from Tobihino to Mizutani Shrine. ✅17:25 Torch Lighting The torch lighting site near Mizutani Shrine ignites the starter sacred fire. ✅17:40 Nogami Festival Monks from Todai-ji and Kofuku-ji chant sutras and pray for blessings, while the sacred fire procession advances to Mount Wakakusa to prepare for ignition. ✅18:15 Grand Fireworks 🎆 The fireworks festival launches fireworks on Mount Wakakusa, with hundreds of fireworks including the very impressive large shell fireworks. ✅18:30 Mountain Fire 🔥 Ignition Fire is taken from the Yamayaki bonfire, and under signals from the Nara City Protection Group using conch shells, trumpets, and firecrackers, the grass on Mount Wakakusa is set ablaze.
