Brunei's Most Iconic Mosque

Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque, located in the capital city of Bandar Seri Begawan, is a royal Islamic mosque in Brunei. It is considered one of the most spectacular mosques in the Asia-Pacific region and a major tourist attraction. The mosque is regarded by Bruneians as a primary symbol of the country. Named after the 28th Sultan of Brunei, Omar Ali Saifuddien III, it was completed in 1958 and is a representation of modern Islamic architecture. The mosque's most notable feature is its main dome, which is covered in pure gold and stands at 52 meters high, visible from anywhere in Bandar Seri Begawan. The main minaret combines Renaissance and Italian architectural styles, creating a unique design that is rare in Islamic architecture worldwide. Inside the minaret, a modern elevator allows visitors to reach the top and enjoy a panoramic view of the city.
