Wind Cave!

Wind Cave is one of the major tourist attractions in Kuching, Sarawak. The cave is just a few minutes drive from the Fairy Cave. The cave consists of three tubes like passages which are completely enveloped in dark, and therefore, bringing a torch is a must. There are millions of bats living inside the cave. A number of notice boards can inform you about the different species of bats. There are many underground streams running inside the cave and for this reason, the caves are usually closed during the rainy months. The Wind Cave’s has been gazetted as a nature reserve not just to protect the cave and its inhabitants, but also to conserve a number or rare species in the surrounding limestone forest. Amongst the small to medium sized trees and shrubs are some very rare palms, including Arenga pinnata (called Inyok in the local Bidayuh language), Arenga undulatifolia (Opip in Bidayuh) and the gigantic Calamus ornatus (Wi jelayan in Bidayuh). Underground streams run through the cave and boardwalks are made available for your convenience. However,these boardwalks are not lighted hence bringing your own torch light is essential. Torchlight can also be rented outside the cave. Oh yea, don’t forget to bring along your cap to prevent bats' dropping from falling on your head while you are here. Also, please ensure that you have a good pair of non-slippery shoes as certain stretches of the walkway can be slippery especially it they are wet. As the weather is usually humid here, bring a bottle of water to quench your thirst. 😁 Guys, if you have never been to any cave before, you should try visit this cave as it is quite exciting to explore. 😉
