Stars on the Volga River - Russian Academy of Arts Exhibition

Throughout human history, major rivers have been the birthplaces of civilization, carrying the origins and development of human society, culture, and art. The Volga River, the longest river in Europe and the longest inland river in the world, is like a crystal-clear vein that not only flows through the vast Caucasus, but also runs through the long and splendid history of the East Slavs. It has always nurtured and created the rise and prosperity of the Russian nation and society, nourishing the colorful flowers of literature and art on this land. It is recognized as the mother river of Russia and is also a spiritual totem and symbol of the Russian people. Looking back at the history of Russia's national development, there is also an important cultural landmark and holy place, which is the Russian Academy of Arts, which has been established for more than 300 years and still continues to influence and shape the contemporary national spirit of Russia with its vitality. Since the official establishment of the Art and Science Academy by Peter the Great in 1724, the Art and Science Academy has laid the foundation for the development of Russian culture and science, and has also laid the groundwork for future influence and contributions to the development of global culture and art. Over the past three centuries, the Art and Science Academy has experienced the Imperial Art and Science Academy (1724-1918, St. Petersburg), the All-Russian Art and Science Academy (1932-1947, Moscow), the Soviet Art and Science Academy (1947-1992, Moscow), and the Russian Art and Science Academy (1992-present, Moscow). With the vicissitudes of life, the Art and Science Academy has undergone reconstruction and reform, and has always been the highest-level art and science institution in Russia. Behind this are thousands of academicians and artists and hundreds of thousands of fine arts, architecture, and science works. These academicians are like stars in the sky above the Volga River, shining brightly, and their works are like brilliant stars, not only illuminating the long history of Russian fine arts, but also guiding the future development direction. This year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Russia and the China-Russia Cultural Year. This exhibition, titled "Stars on the Volga River", showcases a total of 109 paintings by academicians of the Russian Academy of Arts since the 20th century. It focuses on displaying works of different themes and language styles such as natural scenery, character portraits, and formal exploration. Visitors can stroll in the quiet and elegant exhibition hall like a splendid galaxy, allowing their spirits to travel to the strange and magnificent world of Russian culture and art, and deeply appreciate its natural style and cultural charm.
