Visit the Imperial College in Beijing to learn about Confucian culture. The Imperial College (Guózǐjiàn) was the highest institution of learning and education administration in ancient China. The Imperial College was first established by Emperor Wu of Jin, Sima Yan, and was renamed as such during the reign of Emperor Yang of Sui. During the Tang and Song dynasties, the Imperial College was the national education administration, overseeing the Imperial Academy, the Taixue, and the Four Gates Academy, each of which had a doctorate and a libationer in charge of management. In the 10th year of the Dade era of the Yuan Dynasty (1306), the Imperial College in Beijing was established, initially known as the Beiping Prefecture Academy. As of 2024, it has a history of 719 years and was the highest institution of learning and education administration in the Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties.
