👍️Must-see: Zhihua Temple, located in Lumicang Hutong, Dongcheng District, Beijing, is the largest Ming Dynasty wooden building complex in Beijing. Zhihua Temple was built in the eighth year of the Zhengtong era of the Ming Dynasty (1443) and was the family temple of Wang Zhen, the eunuch of the Ministry of Rites. As a favorite minister of Emperor Yingzong, Wang Zhen held great power in the court, and his family temple was magnificent and grand. Yingzong named it "Baonen Zhihua Zen Temple". Zhihua Temple is the most complete Ming Dynasty wooden building complex in Beijing. 🎟️Highlights: The caisson ceiling of Zhihua Temple was built by imperial order, so the craftsmanship is exquisite and is a masterpiece of ancient architectural wood carving. The caisson ceilings of the Wanfo Pavilion and Zhihua Hall are very spectacular. The coiled clouds, lotus petals, and offerings are set with the "Eight Treasures". Eight dragons are carved around it, and a strong and sturdy dragon is in the center, coiling and hanging its head. Unfortunately, it was stolen and sold by monks in the early 1930s.
