The pavilion is like a boat floating on the lake, and the lake and mountains are like a painting.

Kuoru Pavilion, also known as Bafang Pavilion, is located at the east end of the Seventeen-Arch Bridge in the Summer Palace. It was first built in the 17th year of the Qianlong reign (1752) and rebuilt in the 14th year of the Guangxu reign (1888). Kuoru Pavilion faces south, with a building area of 384.95 square meters. It is octagonal in shape, with three rooms on each side, surrounded by corridors, with a double-eave roof and a round top. There are 40 columns in the pavilion. There are eight wooden plaques hanging on the beams, two of which are poems written by Emperor Qianlong, and the other six are written by ministers during the Guangxu reign. Kuoru Pavilion is not only the largest pavilion in the Summer Palace, but also an important building in the garden.
