Changping Yinshan Pagoda Forest

Yinshan Pagoda Forest is a Buddhist holy site with a thousand-year history located in Xihu Village, Xingshou Town, Changping District, Beijing. The history of Yinshan Pagoda Forest can be traced back to the Zhenguan period of the Tang Dynasty, when the first temple was built on Yinshan Mountain. During the Liao and Jin Dynasties, the area was home to many temples and became one of the most important Buddhist holy sites in northern China. After continuous expansion and reconstruction during the Jin, Yuan, Ming, and Qing Dynasties, Yinshan Pagoda Forest gradually became the spectacular site we see today. 🌲The Origin of Yinshan's Name and Its Beautiful Scenery🌲 Yinshan, originally named "Tiebi Yinshan," was named for its steep cliffs that resemble tall walls and are black as iron, and for its snow-covered mountains that appear silver after a snowfall. The area is known for its beautiful, secluded natural scenery and its many ancient pagodas with unique styles. The pagoda forest is especially beautiful in the spring sunset. ✅Fahua Zen Temple and the Pagoda Forest On the southern slope of Yinshan, the five Liao Dynasty brick pagodas with dense eaves in Fahua Zen Temple are particularly spectacular. The Fojue, Yixing, and Huitang Pagodas have octagonal thirteen-story eaves, while the Yuantong and Xujing Pagodas have hexagonal seven-story eaves. The pagodas are all intricately carved. These pagodas are not only treasures of Buddhist architecture but also valuable heritage for studying ancient Chinese Buddhism and brick and stone architecture. 🕰️Witness to Historical Changes🕰️ Yinshan Pagoda Forest has endured a thousand years of wind and rain and witnessed countless historical changes. From the Huayan Temple of the Tang Dynasty to the Baoyan Temple of the Liao Dynasty, the Dayansheng Temple of the Jin Dynasty, and the Fahua Zen Temple of the Ming Dynasty, the area has always been an important site for the transmission of Buddhist culture. Although most of the Fahua Zen Temple and nearby temples were destroyed during the Republic of China period, the surviving ancient pagodas and ruins still provide us with valuable historical information. Blood ✅National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit Blood In 1988, Yinshan Pagoda Forest was announced as the third batch of national key cultural relics protection units by the State Council of the People's Republic of China. This is not only a recognition of its historical value but also an encouragement for future generations to inherit and protect this valuable cultural heritage. There is a parking lot at the ticket office, but there are not many spaces. However, there are two large parking lots not far away. The mountain road is a bit steep, so you can bring trekking poles.
