Take a walk in the park and listen to the ancient temple bells.

Badachu Park is a famous Buddhist garden in Beijing, surrounded by Cuiwei Mountain, Hutou Mountain, and Qinglong Mountain, the remaining veins of the Taihang Mountains. The highest peak is 464 meters high. The park is named after the eight ancient temples: Chang'an Temple, Lingguang Temple, Sanshan Nunnery, Dabei Temple, Longquan Nunnery, Xiangjie Temple, Baozhu Cave, and Zhengguo Temple. The eight ancient temples were built in the Tang, Song, Yuan, and Ming dynasties, and have been rebuilt over the years. The ancient buildings are still well preserved. The most attractive part of Badachu is the Buddha Tooth Relic Pagoda in Lingguang Temple. Around the pagoda are the Heart Sutra Wall and the Arhat Wall. The Prajna Paramita Heart Sutra is carved on a wall more than 30 meters long, which is spectacular. Lingguang Temple was built during the Dali period of the Tang Dynasty (776-779) and was originally named Longquan Temple. It was rebuilt in the second year of the Dading period of the Jin Dynasty (1162) and renamed Jueshan Temple. It was rebuilt in the third year of the Xuande period of the Ming Dynasty (1428) and again in the 14th year of the Chenghua period of the Ming Dynasty (1478), and renamed Lingguang Temple. It was bombarded by the Eight-Power Allied Forces in 1900 and rebuilt in the 12th year of the Republic of China (1923). The Buddha Tooth Relic Pagoda was built on the site of the original Mahavira Hall from 1958 to 1960. The existing buildings are divided into the south and north courtyards. The south courtyard has the Guanyin Hall, Liao Pagoda Base, and Goldfish Pond. The north courtyard has the Worship Hall, Jade Buddha Hall, Reclining Buddha Hall, Reception Hall, Heart Sutra Wall, and Arhat Wall. The central building is the octagonal 13-story Buddha Tooth Relic Pagoda, which houses the Buddha Tooth Relic of Sakyamuni. Not far from the back door of Lingguang Temple, there is a pagoda courtyard, which is the pagoda of eminent monks of all dynasties. Above the pagoda courtyard is the Dizang Hall.
