Overall, it was very good and the scenery was beautiful!

We stayed in Beppu for 2 nights, both at the InterContinental Hotel. The room was as shown in the picture, nothing new, but the view from the balcony was amazing. You can see Mount Tsurumi on one side, Beppu Bay on the other, and the city in the middle. The view is great both during the day and at night. When we checked in, the staff recommended upgrading to a room with a private hot spring for an additional 20,000 yen, but since several hotels in our previous itinerary had private hot springs, we were not very interested in it and did not upgrade. The hotel lounge was good and the staff were very enthusiastic. We had breakfast in the lounge once and in the restaurant on the 4th floor once. I would recommend having breakfast in the lounge, as there are more options. We also tried the Atelier restaurant, which offers 3 set menus to choose from. The overall environment was great.
