Magic moments at Cairns’ Esplanade Lagoon

One of the key highlights of our trip to Cairns was swimming at the Esplanade Lagoon. Located in the heart of Cairns’s City next to the waterfront, the Esplanade Lagoon is open to public and free! Simply enjoy the amazing view while strolling along the boardwalk, enjoy a picnic at the lawn next to it or even better take a dip in the water for an enjoyable swim. The view was stunning during the sunset and you would be amazed at the transition of colours during the magic hour! Along the edge of the lagoon, there is a sand area for children to play. The lagoon also has a shallow end with little fountains along the way, as well as 1.55m progressive depth for keen swimmers. After the swim, you can easily take a shower at the toilet and change area which provides warm water. It was clean and comfortable! Then you would be ready for dinner at a nearby waterfront restaurant. Be sure to book the restaurant in advance as popular ones are fully booked quickly and do not take walk-in guests.
