Angkor Wat Attractions Overview (Part 1)

Previously, I shared individual photos of each attraction. This post serves as a summary. TOP1, Angkor Wat 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟, a planetary postcard. Narrowly speaking, Angkor Wat refers to this temple, the largest and best-preserved temple of the Angkor ruins, recognized as the world's largest temple. Majestic yet exquisite, it truly deserves to be called a world wonder. TOP2, Banteay Srei 🌟🌟🌟🌟plus, a must-visit. Although Banteay Srei is far from the city, it cannot be overlooked. It features the most exquisite carvings and unique colors among the Angkor ruins, making it a must-see. TOP3, Bayon Temple & South Gate & Victory Gate 🌟🌟🌟🌟plus, a must-visit. Once you enter Angkor Thom, you will pass through the South Gate and Bayon Temple, home to Angkor's second postcard, the Smile of Khmer. Besides the Smile of Khmer, the carvings at Bayon Temple are not to be missed. If you look closely, you can find depictions of Chinese people in the carvings. Passing through the South Gate and Victory Gate gives a sense of time travel. The Victory Gate is less crowded and more suitable for photos than the South Gate. TOP4, Ta Prohm 🌟🌟🌟🌟, a must-visit. Known for its appearance in "Tomb Raider," the giant tree roots entwining the temple are its most prominent feature. Located within Angkor Thom, it's a must-see attraction. TOP5, Beng Mealea 🌟🌟🌟🌟, the beauty of decay, not to be missed. If it were within Angkor Thom, it would be a must-visit. However, considering its distance from the city, it also receives four stars. I rate it as unmissable. Beng Mealea is an unrestored original temple, with the highest degree of destruction. It is second in scale only to Angkor Wat and is said to be the inspiration for Miyazaki's "Castle in the Sky," making it a must-visit for Japanese tourists. The Naga statues here are better preserved than those at Angkor Wat. TOP6, Koh Ker Pyramid 🌟🌟🌟, worth visiting if you have time. Strictly speaking, it is not part of the Angkor ruins but a separate World Heritage site, the Koh Ker ruins. It is 100 kilometers from Siem Reap, very far, so I only give it 3 stars, otherwise, it could receive 4 stars. Its architectural style is quite different from the Angkor ruins, resembling a Mayan pyramid, and you can climb to the top. Its unique architectural style makes it worth a visit if you have time. #CulturalAttractionSharing #TravelDiary #AngkorWat #TaProhm #BanteaySrei #KohKerPyramid #SmileOfKhmer #BayonTemple
